I flapped my wings as soon as he settled into the notch reluctantly. Prepping myself before taking off. I took to the sky quickly. It didn't take me long to fly back to the settlement. Setting Jax down next to the tent wasn't difficult.
He yawned, and stretched as he went in. He'd done a lot of work today. Now it was my turn to get to work. Savannah, and Ethan weren't ready just yet. They needed another hour or two of sleep before they'd be ready.
I decided to go investigate the north again without them. I wouldn't go out of my way to look for a fight this time. I'd already ruined their farm. I just wanted to find out if they knew I'd messed up their farm yet. I leapt into the sky, and flew an hour out before rushing through a portal.
I was glad it didn't take me nearly as much mana to teleport around as long as the portal was headed somewhere on the same planet. I'd portalled myself straight over the farm. There were six wyverns below me. Only one of those six noticed me right away. This one observed me as I observed him.
He looked small. Much smaller then me. Yet he chose not to alert the others to my presence. I banked sharply, and flew away from the farm. Choosing to circle a spot a mile away, and wait to see what happened.
That smaller wyvern had shown me that he saw me clearly. He'd glanced up at me multiple times. All while pretending not to notice me. He might choose to approach me. If he did I wanted to see him coming.
I focused on my spatial awareness, and activated my foresight ability. I would see him coming if he came. I waited nearly an hour for him to come before I saw him. The constant paranoid focus on my foresight, and spatial awareness gave me a headache. He didn't hesitate to fly right up to me as I stopped to hover.
He hovered across from me. Curiosity obvious in the way he cocked his head.
*"What are you?" the young wyvern asked.
The clear confident draconic told me that this little one was more intelligent then the last one that had talked to me.
*"I am a dragon," I decided to answer his question, "Do you happen to have a name?"
*"The older males call me garbage," the young wyvern looked down in a manner that was well practiced, "What is a dragon?"
*"I am a dragon," I snorted, "Like you only with more limbs."
*"Why did you come to the pens?" he glanced up when he wasn't punished for speaking.
*"I came to stop your alpha from attacking the humans nearby," this was the first thing I'd said that drew an obvious reaction from him.
His lip pulled up into a snarl, and the distance between us increased.
*"She hates the humans," he snarled, "She told us what they did to her. Why would you protect those monsters?"
*"Not all of them are monsters," I increased the distance between us further, "I know what they did to the alphas. I'm halfway tempted to let the alphas have their way with them, but not all of them were part of what was done to the alphas."
*"Why should I believe a creature that so easily sides with humans?" he kept the snarl on his face.
*"I don't care if you believe me or not," I hissed, "What I can tell you is that the humans have decided that your alphas are to much of a threat. They intend to kill you all. I don't think you need to die."
*"Why shouldn't I kill you now?" the wyvern snarled weakly.
*"I'm the only one that can sneak you out of here alive," I dropped my snarl, "But the place I'm would send you has human allies of mine. I can't send you there if you're going to attack them."
*"Why would an ally of humans choose to save an enemy of humans?" flames flared in, and out of his nostrils as he breathed.
*"If I help you leave this planet safely you would be going to a planet that isn't ruled by humans," I started to explain, "The lizardmen rule this planet. The only humans there are my allies. They would know not to attack you." I paused, "Unless you attacked first. Basically I'm offering you a fresh start on a new world. A world where you wouldn't have to interact with humans unless you wanted to, but I'm only willing to send you to this world if you won't attack my allies." I cut him off before he could speak again, "Think it over. I'll be around if you decide you want to talk again."
A spatial portal opened up beneath me. I snapped my wings closed, and dropped into the portal. My sudden appearance above the front line snapped them all to attention. I dropped out of the sky. Flaring my wings when I was just a few hundred feet off the ground.
I landed with a thud. I had closed the portal long before I reached the ground. I flicked my tail casually as if I hadn't just dropped out of the sky. Shaking imaginary stiffness out of my limbs casually before switching forms. Landing on my feet lightly in my human form.
I rolled my shoulder casually. Glad that I'd taken the time to return my clothes back to the way I liked them. It had only taken me a minute, but I was glad that I'd taken that minute. A lot of stunned eyes focused on me as I walked out of my circle of gravel. I pushed right into the tent where my bonded were staying only to be slapped by Savannah.
It didn't hurt, but it did get her anger across quite clearly. Now I understood why she'd closed her bond enough to conceal her emotions.
"Did you really try to destroy one of the drones?" she shouted.
It took me quite a bit to keep up the triple chapters. Today will be the last triple hit for a while. I think I made up for the absence these last couple months. I'll drop back down to one chapter daily. As sad as it might be I am nearing the end of this volume so I will be absent again when I'm editing.
