Then from there all I would have to do is grow strong enough that nothing would think twice about taking our world from us. Once I got there then earth would be safe, and I would have it made. The only questions were how long would it take to get there, and would I live long enough to make it happen? I shook of that line of thought, and focused on getting stronger for the time being. This island seemed to be stunting my XP to a certain degree, but the alpha was right.
I needed to know more of what I could do with this body before I went somewhere else, and it wasn't like I'd stopped gaining XP period. It was just slow. Soren promised he was going to show me their VR pod this week though so I'd be able to gain more XP that way. Two or three hours daily just grinding XP would help boost my leveling. I figured I'd just jump into free for all over, and over again.
I could mash those students into paste one by one until I was victorious over, and over again. Twenty players each round gave me nineteen students to crush each round. At twenty-five XP per student times nineteen was nearly five hundred XP per game. If I found another game that I could pit myself up against stronger opponents I'd get even more XP. The school servers only allowed students to log in.
There could be much more powerful players on the world servers. The world servers would have everyone on there. Maybe even trying to do the same things I could. I walked Savannah, Ethan, and Jax up to the cavern since tonight was the full moon. My earth ability had improved enough that I was able to make a firepit in the middle of the cavern, and some stone platforms to place their mattresses on.
The hole in the roof for the smoke to get out was a good addition as well. I had piled up wood in the fire pit most the afternoon so there was more than what was needed drying up against a wall I'd cleared the eggs away from. I lit the fire pit before inviting them in, and they seemed a bit surprised that I'd been willing to put so much work into them.
"This should be plenty for the night," I watched the entrance almost longingly for a while before Ethan spoke up.
"Do you want to go observe their hunt?" Ethan asked.
I simply nodded. Since I'd learned to fly fairly well now I could easily escape a group of wolves that was bound to the ground. Ethan seemed to be fine with it, and so was Savannah. I didn't really care if Jax was ok with it yet so I left once I had the approval of the two I cared about more. I sealed the entrance most of the way with my earth ability.
I walked out into the night air. I scanned the area around the cavern with amusement on my face. I could tell where the wolves were with my infra red. I observed them putting the children in their own little hunting area so they could learn about the shift, and such. The alpha walked to the front of the pack.
Acting the same as an ordinary wolf pack would. They seemed so human most of the time it was a bit surprising to see them this way. I observed all the heat signatures on the island from my vantage point near the top. My body tensed as I got excited about what was going to happen tonight. I wanted to see everything.
Warning high rift activity detected. Stable rifts are more likely to form during the next 24 hours.
What!?! I stood up tensely. Is the same thing happening in rift city?
More than likely this event will be worldwide. The increase in earth's mana is causing it to attempt to stabilize. The towers will be the focal points of this event.
I rushed down to the village, and stopped in front of the alpha.
"There are going to be a lot of portals opening tonight," I snorted lightning as I worked on hyping myself up for the next day, "Warn the humans. It'll be the worst here, but it won't be focused just here."
"How do you know?" Soren was one of the braver ones when it came to me.
"I'm mana sensitive," My head jerked as I sensed the mana fluctuating in multiple places, "Its only a matter of time before it begins. Do you want to continue questioning how I know or prepare for the worst?"
I flapped my wings while Soren rushed inside the alpha's house to send out the warning. I really needed to get ready for the worst. Multiple rifts boomed into existence all around the island. Some fell apart, and closed a few seconds after opening, but three or four remained stable despite the instability of others. Beast's came through the stable ones in bulk.
One rift in particular had creatures coming through that looked like ugly, hairless, one eyed giant rats. Instead of a few dozen like the other rifts this one was spitting out hundreds of the ugly rodents.
{I want you three to use that cavern as a base for attacks for now.} I was tracking the heat signatures of all the beasts that were rushing though the rifts, {There's another portal disaster going on outside, and I won't be able to protect everyone.}
"They're coming our way," I inhaled slowly until my lungs felt as if they were going to burst.
I launched lightning through the trees to land the first strike on the rodents that were killing everything in their path. Including the other beasts. The lightning went through the trees, and hit the closest of the rodents. Bouncing between the rats, and killing most of the ones the lightning hit. They were about the size of an adult human, but their sheer numbers were going to be a problem.
