The alley became silent. The two kidnappers were pissed. Although they were dogs of the lowest rank of their organisation, they still had their own dog pride. No random person can just walk up to them and order them around.
The lizard man made a small fire ball appear in his hand. It was extremely weak for a villain-hero standard. But here, in this zone full of civilians, even more so against some kids, it was more than enough.
At least he thought that it was more than enough. When he threw it towards the glitching ghost, the girl closed her eyes in fear. It was because of her that the ghost would be hurt.
Weirdly, she didn't hear the scream of pain, but rather a creepy laugh that would make even the most hardened soldiers feel a shiver down their spines.
"Beautifully done. Since you used potentially lethal attacks against me, no matter what I do in retaliation, there would be no problem. Not that it matters since even if you had just ran, I would have hunted you down."
The girl opened her eyes in confusion. The ghost had taken no damage at all. Looking closely, she realised that the wall behind it was charred. She could see that the ghost's body had a hole, and was slowly glitching back to its original shape. It was creepy for anyone to see, but to her, it was the best thing that could ever happen to her. Someone could save her from her kidnappers.
The worst for those two wasn't how easily the ghost had dealt with the attack, but the joy present in his voice. His voice sounded happy, excited. Like a child having found a new toy. Sadly, the situation made it clear that they were the toys.
If they were pissed before, this made them snap.
"Arghh...don't look down on me you piece of shit!!!"
The horned man raised his fist and began to run in order to hit him. His quirk seemed to make him a little faster and stronger than normal. Along with his dragon-like horn present, it would be enough to intimidate normal people. Sadly for them, Shido was anything but normal.
"Trash."
Shido didn't even dodge or move. He just stood there and let the horned man try and touch him. However, it was like touching water. He couldn't grab hold of anything. The ghost would just disperse and reform back whenever his hands tried to reach him. In this form, Shido was invincible. Nothing could touch him. Nothing could harm him. Nothing could kill him.
"Alright. That's enough of playing." Another voice resounded. Only this sounded much more playful than the one before, but equally creepy. The ghost raised his left hand, and a hurricane of cold wind blasted the horned man and lizard man, separating the girl safely away from them.
What happened next was a pure and simple beat down. No matter how much they tried, they could not touch him at all, and slowly froze into ice statues.
After a few seconds, the two were completely frozen. Of course, only the exterior was frozen. He still wanted to devour them after all, and devouring dead people gave him no time. Shido had made a wall surrounding the girl so that she would not see anything happen to them, and countless white hands slowly pulled the two ice statues down into the shadows, leaving behind no traces of what had happened except for the burn mark on the wall.
When he finished with them, he melted the ice and went towards the girl. He had a satisfied smile on his face from all the time he had devoured, though no one could actually see it.
"Hello onee-san, you may know me as Phantom? I hope you aren't too scared."
The girl was so dumbfounded that she just stared at him while her tears streamed down. This stand-off lasted long enough for Shido to become a little awkward as he just stared at her while she cried. He was about to leave but his movement seemed to awaken the girl and hurriedly got up before replying.
"Sorry, sorry. Thank you very much Phantom." The girl said as she sniffed a little,"Thank you very much for saving me, my name is Yaoyorozu. Yaoyorozu Momo."
After that, she looked up to him with a glowing gaze.
"You called me onee-san? You are younger than me yet you're so strong. How did you do that? How did you dodge the fireball? How did you train? What is your quirk?"
Momo began to launch thousands of questions without breathing. Shido didn't even have the time to answer one before another was launched. Finally he had to calm her by placing his puppet on her mouth (after demosaicing his left arm of course). This brought her back.
"I'm sorry, it's just that I was too excited." Momo said as she blushed a little. Such an outburst was really unbecoming of a young lady. Her mother would have scolded her had she seen her act this way.
"Don't worry too much about it, we're just bored and wandered here after you screamed after all. So where's your home? Let us escort you back." Yoshinon exclaimed excitedly.
"Sorry if he made you awkward, he just wants a reward for saving you." Shido apologised unabashedly. He didn't care that he was being thick skinned for asking for a reward, but it was impolite to ask directly. He had already mosaiced his mouth, allowing a melodious sound to enter Momo's ears.
"So you're Phantom! The guy who was crowned the best musician ever! You're almost at an idol's popularity already! And you're younger than me! And is that a puppet talking? Where did you get this puppet?"
Once again, she rambled on and only stopped after Shido placed his puppet in front of her mouth. Momo once again apologised while berating herself internally.
After that, they left the alley and the two began to walk together as they talked. Momo asked if it would be better if they called the police, but Yoshinon assured her that they would have learnt their lesson. She didn't see the entire fight, and just assumed they ran away so she believed in him.
