Chapter 40: I Love You....
At the Riverside...
Ariena was feeling ecstatic after knowing that Evan will be there to support her for the graduation ceremony. She was squealing like a little girl around him bewitching his senses with her mesmerizing smile and voice, as she keeps on babbling about all the random stuffs
After spending quite a long time there, Evan noticed that Ariena was crunkitis, as she had had a lot of food and drank a few glasses of red wine. Her words were loosing it's meaning as she was asking some stray questions to him in a sluggish manner making no sense.
He sighed when he saw that she had dozed off on his shoulder mumbling something inaudible.
"Silly, how can you be so carefree with a man when you are so drunk and sleepy.." He smile while asking her sleeping figure, he removed a few strands of hair which were obstacle in his way to see her beautiful and calm face. He caress her flushed pink cheeks with the back of his fingers, feeling it's softness and smoothness.
He stared at her with love and yearning, as he keep questioning her even knowing that he can't get the answers from her in this state, "Why...Why didn't you wait for me.... I've tried so hard to be someone who's worthy of you. Do you know how hard it was to leave you alone here and go aboard...."
He sighed and turned to face the moon as he let a soft chuckle and continued, "Dad has put the condition that if I want to be with you I've to prove myself, only then he will allow me to ask for your hands for marriage... Haha.. He said no one gives his daughter hand to an incapable and worthless man..."
"So to prove my worth I excepted his challenge and went to country L to handle the new project launched there under our company. I've worked so hard so that I can confidently ask for your hands from your family, but see what had happened..." He helplessly looked at his own hand wondering where he went wrong in his actions.
He takes her tiny, soft, velvety hand in his large and strong hands as he rubbed them lovingly. He tilted his head to have a view of her sleeping face which was dazzling because of the moonlight falling on her.
"Ariena... my worst nightmare has come alive. Now you belongs to someone else. Even if I tell you my feeling now you can't be with me... Did I take so long.... Why you have to marry at such young age... Why didn't you tell me before marrying him... why didn't NO ONE told me about your marriage. It's all wrong everything and everyone lied to me.." His voice started to crack at the end. A single tear drop escaped from his left eye, as he pour his heart out to her. He clenched his teeth hard to control the tsunami of emotions that was building inside him. He had never thought just for the one decision in his life he had to pay such a big amount, all his happiness, dream aspirations, everything will be gone.
He turned to look at her to get a reaction from her. But to his dismay the girl beside him was still sleeping peacefully without any fear in her life.
He raised his one hands to cupped her face while still holding her hand in his other hand. He sighed helplessly and lovingly before placing a kiss on her head.
"Ariena I love you...." he mumbled softly almost in an inaudible tone, as he again steal a quick kiss on her nose.
The little movement and faint murmur of voices made by Evan around her, wake her up from her doze. She lifted her head rubbing her eyes drowsily as she yawned, "Umm I think I doze off while talking to you... why didn't you wake me up. What time is it now...?" She asked him as she look for her phone in her shimmering golden clutch to check the time and any message or call, if any.
Evan was panicked when he noticed that her body stir when he confessed. He was contemplating what to say if she questioned him back regarding his feeling. But when he heard her sleepy sweet voice he felt relieved.
"Thank God, she didn't notice my words.." he mumbled under his breath as he cleared the remains of his tear. At the same time he felt a sting of pain in his heart for being such a miserable person.
He patted her head fondly as he stands up and said, "It's already half past twelve, get up I'll be sending you home.. come" He extended his hand for her to take.
Ariena was wide awake when she heard the time. She yelped, "What it's so late, let's hurry and Brother Evan Thank you, but you didn't have to send me home as I've my ride with me.." She takes his hand to straighten up her body as she still was a little bit giddy.
"Look at you, how can I let you drive in this condition. Are you so eager to die. Hmm... You are coming with me in MY CAR, and don't worry I'll arranged the person to deliver your car to your place. So let's not debate further and make a move as it's ALREADY SO LATE... come Sleeping Beauty..." Evan told her in a stern and serious yet in a comforting tone.
He pulled her along with him as they move towards the hotel gate to get their cars.
Ariena was persistent to go on by herself. She kept on making different excuses, on their way to hotel gate, to budge Evan from his decision but all her words were falling on deaf ears.
Evan strictly rejected her each justifications and after making sure that her car will be following them to the mansion, he turned to drag her to his car.
Evan was really pissed off to see how deligently she was refusing his offer. He halted his steps and turned to face her, and ask her, literally chewing his words, "Am I such an irresponsible and despicable person in your eyes that you are so persistent to not go with me . You don't have trust me with your safety Ariena..." He was digging holes in her soul through his glaring eyes, making her gulped in fear.
"Oh no no, I just don't want to be a burden to you... I'm sorry for my behavior just now.." she said in a low apologetic voice. After listening to her, he realized that he had gone overboard.
"Hey I'm sorry for being so harsh on you .... please don't delay more let's go... or are you planning to take a leave from your work blaming me for the lack of sleep... hmm" he said jokingly while frowning slightly then letting a chuckle. He tried to make her relax as they again started chatting.
Evan was really happy today after spending such a wonderful time with Ariena. From time to time he sneak glance at her to capture each and every aspect of this moment in his eyes as he drove his shinny gray color Mercedes Benz SLC at smooth constant speed. He was not in rush. Yes he will send her back but after enjoying this slow long drive. At least that what his heart had planned so far.
Poor Lovesick Heart...
