Chapter 38: He's Busy.....
Ariena and Evan had a wonderful time, eating and chatting about their past years. They have a lot to share with each other, a lot had happened since he left the country for his higher education and also to be trained to take over the family business in the future.
After having the full seven course dinner along with some extra dessert added to the menu by Ariena, they were stuffed up to the neck.
" Ah! I'm so stuffed that I can't even move my limbs, I think I'll need some help, in walking out from his restaurant....." said Ariena lazily as she put down her napkin after patting it on her mouth.
"Hahaha..." Evan busted out a loud hearty laugh when he heard her words. He tried to get some air in between his laughter and said, "Finally you are feeling filled, I thought we will not be leaving this place before it announces that their supplies are all finished and they are closed for the day... haha..."
Ariena felt really offended by his words and clearly showed her objection by puffing her cheeks, as she said , "How mean of you to say such a disgusting remarks towards a beautiful and sophisticated lady like me. Hmph... "
"Haha... beautiful I agree but sophisticated form which angle, tell me which sophisticated lady eat like a hog... Haha", jested Evan in a cheerful mood.
"I'm highly disappointed with you. You are surely not my respectful Senior brother...I'm not talking with you... and I'm going to pay for all the food I've today, thanks for the utmost hospitality you have shown to me Mr. Evan Smith, sorry but I'll be taking my leave first.... THANK YOU.." Ariena stress on the last word, as she was now fuming in anger for been compared to a 'hog'. She quickly take out her card to pass it to the waiter for the payment as she stands up to leave.
Evan rushed to catch her hand which was holding the card as he place his own limited edition black card in waiter hand and signaled him to proceed with the payment. He then turned to Ariena and held her from her shoulder to make her face to him. He sighed helplessly as he coax her with his words, "I'm really sorry for joking with you, please don't be mad at me. I swear in the name of God I'll never tease you again for your appetite, I promise Ariena .. PLEASE,.. I can't bear your indifference toward me.. I'm really sorry ..."
After pausing for some time to think of something to appease her, he started again, "How about this I take full responsibility of my loutish behavior and ready to accept any punishment you decide or you can demands anything from me as an apology.. please let me off for this once... " he literally pleaded to her in front of so many guests, making Ariena conscious of her surrounding.
"Okay stop it already Brother Evan you are embarrassing me... I excused you this time but don't repeat it. As for the punishment let's take a stroll along the river as I'm still not tired and sleepy, and have eaten a lot. It'll be good for both of us to go for a small walk to digest our wonderful super...", replied Ariena by placing her hand around his arm while looking at the people walking alongside pathway of the river.
"Sure..." said Evan contented as he received the card from the waiter. They soon left the restaurant from the back gate , which was made especially to connect the restaurant to the pathway.
They were walking slowly along the river as the gentle wind was blowing, making the loose hair of her dance with them, playing hide and seek with the mesmerizing smile on her face. The moonlight falling on her face makes her face glow as her bright eyes glitter with warmth. It was such an heartwarming and gorgeous sight to have.
After walking for some time they spotted a bench and decided to sit there to take a rest.
"Ariena are you free for this Saturday morning. Grandma and Grandpa are coming from the countryside for a few days, we are planning to have a small gathering for them, you can join us as everyone misses you a lot and wants to meet you.." asked Evan in a soft and polite tone.
Ariena was quite excited to know that Grandma and Grandpa Smith are coming. As she and Isabella were very fond of the homemade delicacies that they brought back from their farms. She turned to face him and squealed in happiness, "Really they are coming this Saturday, I'm so happy to know that. Haha... can you believe me, my mouth is watering even while imagining the delicious stuffs they will bring with them.... " but suddenly she slumped in her spot with a sad face remembering something.
Seeing her reacting in such a way, confused Evan. He was concerned about her as he ask her, "Ariena is everything okay. You were so excited at one moment and become sad the other second. Tell me I'm here to listen to you..."
"Ah it's nothing Brother Evan, it's just that on Saturday I've to attain my Graduation ceremony, so I can't be there to meet them... " she sighed in disappointment as she said in soft voice, "Can you make sure to save some of the delicacies for me. I can definitely come on Sunday to have my share and especially to GREET the elders by SURE...", she emphasized on some words to hide her main motive.
"Haha.. you silly ...you caught me off by acting so strange a while ago, you little glutton you only think of food..." jested Evan as he felt relieved that nothing is wrong with her.
"How can you again tease me with food, this is bad, you are going against your words..." she hit hard on his shoulder to release her anger.
"Sorry I forgot, but you looked so cute when you were sulking over the delicacies brought by Grandma.... haha" he said while scrunching his face in pain as she hit him. He suddenly grab her hand to stop her from hitting as he said, "Don't worry I'll make it sure that no one touches the any stuff they brought from the countryside and will postpone the gathering to some other day, when you are available HAPPY..."
"Hmm HAPPY.. thanks Brother Evan." she showed him all her teeth literally while nodding her head vigorously.
"So who are the peoples who will be there to show support to you in your graduation ceremony.." asked Evan to continue the conversation.
"My office friends,Dad and Mom Diane and Isabella of course, Jen also wanted to come but right now he's out of country so he can't make it...hmm Stan and Brann too if they don't have any appointments on that day...." replied Ariena instantly.
"Andrew what about him..." asked Evan, as he was surprised to not heard anything about him.
"He's Busy...." Ariena replied dryly with a poker face. She continued with a fake smile on her face, "You see he had to handle such a big empire. He is not free on that day as he had an important meeting with foreign deligates. I can't disturb him for such a small event...."
"That's Okay... I understand..." Evan felt devastated seeing her hiding her feelings from him. He turned and takes her hand in him as he said, "Do you mind if I join your supporter team..."
Ariena jumped on him and hugged him tightly in her excitement, as she said, " Thanks Brother Evan.... thank you so much , you really are the best... I ..I don't know what to say right now... thanks.. and I would love it if you come.."
Evan was awe stuck by her unannounced hugged, but he was feeling great for sure.
