Chapter 12: Chapter-12 : 1st day and Potions
Waking at 04:45, Michael washed his face and changed into his tracksuit. Going towards the quidditch ground for his daily routine which includes 10 km of running with weights, weighted push ups, pull ups, squats, crunches, flexibility exercises, practicing his katas and finally half an hour of morning meditation.
Walking back to the dorms he saw that students were waking up now, the time was 06:45, he quickly got fresh and had a nice morning bath.
wearing his uniform, he got ready for breakfast which was at 07:30, he went towards the Great Hall and saw that students were starting to come down for breakfast, only Gryffindor table had least students as most of the students there were lazy. Even Slytherins had mostly arrived at their tables.
After 5 minutes, the breakfast started, children around Michael were surprised by his eating etiquette but were more shocked by the amount of food that he ate alone. Ignoring their reactions he continued eating his food.
After eating his fill he left the Great Hall quickly, because he had to utilise his each and every second at Hogwarts, there was still an hour till the classes started he got into his room and started reading all the advanced books that he had acquired in the vault, he had already finished theory upto NEWT level and was now starting to learn mastery level concepts from this 'new' books.
It would take him around 3-4 months to actually understand the concepts behind the spells of that level, even though he had eidetic memory, but still needed to grab the concepts behind. it was like having precious information but being unable to understand it. which could lead to devastating effects, that's why after NEWTs wizards take apprenticeship under a master in that particular field.
The hour was almost up, it was his potions class right now and he didn't want to be late for that class because of Snape's reputation. He took his book, a fountain pen, a parchment and his set of potion equipment kept in a potioneer's case which was a gift from his mom.
Taking all his things he needed he quickly got into the dungeons where potions class was supposed to take place, he got into the classroom, saw an empty seat at the top corner and sat there waiting for snape to come to the class.
After 2 minutes Snape came into the class, black robes, greasy hair, books in his hands and a fluttering Black cape. The first thought that crossed Michael's mind after seeing snape was 'Batman!!!' He could have bet a hundred galleons that snape's character was based upon batman.
He was somewhere getting the feeling that snape might be an unregistered bat animagus.
He walked over to his desk, kept the books there and stood next to it.
"There would be no foolish wand waving or silly incantation in this class, as such I don't expect many of you to understand the subtle science and exact art that is potion making" said Snape with a stoic face. "However for those select few who possess the predisposition, I can teach you how to bewitch the mind and ensnare the senses I can tell you how to bottle fame, brew glory and even put a stopper to death" he said in his usual tone.
"Damn, he must have practiced that one for many years" was the thought that was going in his mind.
Michael understood Snape's character from original storyline, He had great respect for his brilliant mind. His potion skills are as great as his mom, but now she was ahead due to all the 'new' books. Snape could even be a great asset in war against V-man. As he was thinking this Snape snapped at Michael's lack of focus and said "Mr. Blest, our new celebrity. Tell me, what will you get if you add asphodel to an infusion of wormwood?? "
"God!! not this shit again! " thought Michael as he said in a clear and respectful tone "Sir, powdered root of Asphodel is added to an infusion of wormwood to brew a powerful sleeping potion known as drought of the living death".
" What is difference between Monkshood and wolfsbane?? "
"There is no difference, they are one and the same, they also go by the name of Aconite. It is very useful when dealing with werewolves and in making of an extremely strong sedative that can be useful in brewing the Awakening potion."
"Where would you look if I asked you to find me a bezoar?? "
"A bezoar is a stone taken from the stomach of a goat and acts as an antidote to most of the poisons, Basilisk venom being one of the most famous exception"
There was pin drop silence in the class, Michael noticed twitching on the corner of Snape's eyes and smiled. It wasn't everyday that you get this kind of reaction out of Snape.
"Looks like you have done some reading Mr Blest, 5 points to Ravenclaw" said Snape, "However, just knowing the theory will not mean much if you cannot apply it in practice"
There was another shock that rippled through the class, it was almost impossible for any other house to gain points from Snape, it was just as possible as your chance to take a dragon egg and make an omelet out of it in from of its mother.
Even Michael was shocked, it was his first class and he had already made history in Hogwarts. All the students from Ravenclaw had a new found respect for Michael, they had heard about snape's habit of never giving any point to any house other than Slytherin.
The rest of the class went normal as Snape explained the theory behind the Boilcure potion.
Even though Michael already knew about it, the class was still entertaining watching him taking points from Gryffindor every 15 minutes. Michael had to say, even though Snape had vampire like tendencies and Batman like outfit, he was still a master at his art, he knew how to keep the class entertaining, and how to pound concepts into children's mind, if not by hardwork then by fear.
