|| LEOMORD ||
Leomord. That was his name. The loyal knight of the Fortress of Despair. He lived to serve loyally to his king, queen, and his beloved kingdom.
He was gifted with such great sword skills. He was great in everything in battle. His sword, the Oath Keeper, was his trusted friend and his horse, Barbiel, was his companion.
All was well until the kingdom he once loved, fell into chaos and ruin. The king was seduced by a witch and the queen turned into a deadly creature possessing dark magic.
The crestfallen Leomord, unable to protect his beloved kingdom, killed himself with his own sword. The sword he used in so many battles. The sword where he swore that only his enemies would be impaled by it.
Unfulfilled promises and broken dreams dread the once glorious kingdom.
Vexana, their queen, was saddened by this outcome until she threatened to seek revenge. She casted spells upon her once Royal Knights and people, turning them into the one thing everyone was horrified of, the undead.
Leomord's spirit was still too determined that even she, could not control it. He was still determined to protect her and the kingdom.
"I have read about the maiden stuck in a deep sleep. The only maiden who could restore Order in everything, my queen," he said.
"The Enlightened One, you mean?" Vexana answered him.
"Yes, your Majesty. I believe that she will be able to help us in this matter."
"Nonsense! Her story is a myth. She does not exist!"
"But it is not a crime to at least try, my Queen."
Vexana sighed before walking close to the knight kneeling in front of her and touched his shoulder.
"Alright."
She called for the kingdom's mage, hoping that he would know the spell to communicate with the maiden in the Twilight Orb.
"You only have a few moments to talk to her for my magic isn't as strong."
Vexana watched as Leomord talk to sleeping maiden of the Twilight Orb.
"This is hopeless! The Enlightened One is only a story. She does not exist!" she exclaimed when she heard no response. Yes, she wanted to regain the pride of her kingdom. But this is unacceptable. Lunox's story was only a myth. And it will always remain that way.
With a hopeless face, the mage and Leomord left the room.
---
Leomord went out of the kingdom with Barbiel, his horse, to clear out his mind.
The Enlightened One. The title the maiden held is stuck in his head like a broken record.
Not far from where he was currently standing, he hears joyful cheers.
He sighs, remembering his happy memories from the old Fortress of Despair. He wished to feel them again. Even just for a tiny while.
Even if it's just temporary, he wanted to feel that feeling they all call happiness. But he knew, there is no way he'd be able to.
From afar, he sees a maiden with golden aura around her small body. Her skin was milky white and her hair was partly blonde and partly black.
'Could she be...?' he asked himself, hope sparked in his dark heart.
He sees her put up a wonderful, magical smile and in a beat, all the worries he had had washed away. Her smile was enlightening. So innocent. So beautiful.
Little did he know, he was also already smiling himself. Her smile was contagious. Her smile could wipe out every worry one has. Her smile could already bring peace to ones soul.
He walked towards her in small steps, bringing Barbiel with him. No matter how hard he tries to approach her quietly, his feet's armour seemed to not cooperate with him. For every step he took, they would always clang with each other. He somehow regretted not dressing up in his best armour for this sort of occassion.
She seemed to have heard the tiny noise he made for she turned slowly to his direction.
Finally, their eyes meet.
The moment their eyes met, he knew. He knew that SHE was the one.
The Enlightened One.
He stood there, frozen. He didn't expect her to look at his way... nor even return his stare! His heartbeat quickened when he saw her smile softly at him. That smile...
He saw how her eyes twinkled with happiness. How her skin glowed under the bright embers of the fire.
He was stuck under her enchanting when, "Hello!"
The maiden ran towards him with arms spread apart, a huge smile on her face. She stopped in front of him, the smile still on her face.
"Do you have any idea where I am, soldier?" her voice sounded like a siren's sweet, mellifluous song. Her voice was as gentle as her features.
He stared at her face for what seemed like an hour to him. As if he was trying to remember a face his heart was trying to let him forget.
'Why do I feel this sort of feeling?' he asked himself, but even his head could not answer his question.
"Hello?" the girl in front of him, waved her hands before his face, trying to get his attention.
"W-what?" he stuttered. How surprising, the proud head of the Holy Knights of the Fortress of Despair, stuttered! And for a girl he just met!
She giggled, "do you have any idea where we currently are?"
Goodness, this girl is not good for his health!
"A-ah... W-we--."
'For God's sake, Leomord, stop stuttering like an idiot and answer this fair lady properly!'
He cleared his throat before meeting her gaze with a formal look he was trying to keep on, "honestly, fair miss? I have no idea. But the kingdom I'm currently serving is just a couple of miles from here."
She nodded, seeming curious with the kingdom he was talking about.
"Really? I wonder why I was teleported to this place. There seems to be no living mage in this are--"
"Teleported? You were teleported to this place?"
"Yes. Out of all the possible kingdoms that have mages of their own, I was teleported to this place. Why must it be?"
He couldn't speak nor even look at her for more than a second. Is she really the one?
'But she seems so young!' he told himself.
'But not that young for you, eh?' his mind whispered at him. How ridiculous!
"Do you have any idea why you were teleported to our world, miss?" he asks, hope lacing in on his low voice.
---
'Why does his voice sound so familiar?' Lunox asked herself. She swore she heard his voice before.
The voice that her head was trying to bury through oblivion.
She shook away that thought. Impossible, the Twilight Orb has taken some of her memories!
'Ah! I know where I heard his voice!' she thought to her self, victoriously.
"Yes. I was sent to your world because Evil has won against Good again. And so, I am sent to restore the Order in the world," she said, still with a smile on her face. Though looking so ecstatic and comfortable in front of this strange man, she knew that the emotions she's clearly showing him were fake. In fact, she was trying so hard to keep a straight face while her heart thumped so loudly in her chest.
Aside from that heavy beating in her chest, she was also hoping and waiting for him to reveal his identity as the mysterious man who helped her rise from her long slumber.
He stared at her face, making her feel more uncomfortable. His stares were so... familiar? Why so?
It's like... she felt some unknown feeling for this man before? Was it from her past life? Or was it from the memories that the Twilight Orb and time, stole from her?
"A-are you..." his deep voice trailed off.
'Am I, what? What am I?' for the first time, she questioned her existence.
He shook his head, "nevermind," and he diverted his vision to the background behind her. For some unknown, strange reason, she wanted his attention on her. Only on her.
'What is happening to me?!'
"Eh? What am I?" she asked, bothered by how he left her hanging on the edge.
"Nevermind."
For the first time in her life, this life, she glared at him. And he noticed it.
"Alright! Alright!" he exclaimed with both arms in the air in surrender.
"I thought so," she smiled again before crossing her arms over her chest.
"Are you, what they all call, the Enlightened One?"
"Uh... yes. Why? How do you know about me?"
She just had a feeling, but he smiled when she did not deny his question. But did he, really?
This man seems to be the type of person that is cold to everyone who is a stranger to him. Oh how would she love to see that small smile in his face once again!
"Really? Well then, what's your name?" he said, genuine happiness was lacing in his voice, with a small smile.
'There goes that smile!' her heart whispered to her.
She stared at his smiling face. She loved how his red eye-- wait. Red eye?!
"H-huh?" this time, it was her turn to stutter.
"What's-- ah. Nevermind. A gentleman would never let a lady introduce herself before him," he said.
Releasing a small breath, he says, "my name is Leomord. What must I call you, young miss?"
This time, his smile was bigger. His red left eye glowed brighter. His usual dead look, now seemed livelier.
He bowed in a joking manner and took out his hand for a shake, but she only stared at him.
'Leomord...?'
'Why do you seem so... familiar?'
"Young miss?" he called out to her once again, the smile still on his face and his hand still outstretched for her to shake it.
She dragged herself out of her reverie before returning to him a huge smile.
"Lunox. Call me Lunox," she said before shaking his outstretched hand.
---
Lightning shocks and sparks were felt when her hand met his.
It was as if they've both waited for this moment to happen for a very, very long time.
Like a puzzle piece that was finally placed on its designated place, like a painter and his muse, their hands fitted well as if it were sculpted for each other.
And just like that, the memories that both their minds and hearts tried to bury through time and oblivion, flashed through their very eyes.
He remembered how he is for her.
She remembered how she is for he.
