/ Fantasy / The Selection
Synopsis
Roughly two millennia ago, Mana and monsters appeared in the world of Eiruta overnight, forcing all organisms to undergo a selection process; those who could not adapt to the Mana died while the remaining reproduced and lived on. This catastrophic event was recorded in every race living on the continent of Sholoth, a land mass covering half the planet, except the Humans, who seem to harbor a secret. Beyond Sholoth lay the 'Cursed Territory,' where anyone brave enough to venture has never returned...
In a safer part of the world, a young Kai recently turns 11 years old and can finally enroll at the Academy. It has been his life-long dream to become an adventurer, alongside friends, exploring the world and fighting monsters. How could this innocent boy end up abandoning his childhood ambitions and instead end up working for Cascabel, an infamous organization that commits the most atrocious crimes?

Write a reviewThis author has spent over 1000 hours planning and writing the story. I have personally spoken with the author and he has confirmed that he'll spend at least the next 20 years writing this. With that dedication totally deserves 5/5.
Long time lurker here. The story is nicely written and it's cool to see the evolution of the author's writing over time. It has a rough start. I don't know when I was absorbed into the story and couldn't wait what happened next I wish the author updated the story more as time between updates are long, but the chapters are very long compared to most stories on this website. I can't wait to read how the main character joins the evil organization.
I've read the org one and this is such a cute adaption that all I want to do is to keep reading it. 😂 Can you blame me haha cause it's just cute

I saw this novel by accident because I like many other readers probably don't look at novels that don't have many reviews. When I read the intro for The Selection I was hooked and immediately started to read the story. The story is written well and there is a lot of good character, plot and, world development. Out of those 3, the only thing I wouldn't rate a 5 is the character development which seems to not give a lot of solid background for the characters and doesn't let us glean any information about many of the machinations going on around the story. I am not a big fan of the update times from what I saw from the table of contents but, if the author is taking that much time to make sure the novel is well written then this story is a rare gem that I am blessed to be reading. Overall it's not perfect but is a polished piece and is one of the most well-written novels I have ever found on webnovel.com if I grade it on a technical writing level. The only thing is the communication of the story and an imaginativeness for the story that seems to be comparatively unpolished. Overall I think a 4.4 is an appropriate rating for this novel and am very sad that this writing isn't more popular. P.S. Thank you for writing a great story! I look forward to reading the rest, it has been a wonderful enjoyment that I haven't had in a long time.
