A little drama never hurts, as long as it's not too dark and explicit, so far things have only gotten depressing, but I'm sure they'll get better, plus there's always that bit of humor to lighten things up. TFTC

Kenshin certainly needs combat skills, without them I can't imagine him alive for long, he doesn't need to fight if it can be avoided, but he should be able to defend himself. Plus if he's going to have a harem of girls with supernatural powers, he's going to need to stay in shape or gain power somehow.

It's true, I don't think the Kamisato clan is a blacksmith clan either, so I shouldn't be objective. Although I'm sure Kazuha's father will die in a few years at the hands of Scaramouche. If Ayato is 8 years old, Kasuha should be around 12 years old.

If I remember correctly, the clan leaders were killed by Scaramouche in his revenge against the shogun for rejecting him. Although I don't know if this is the case with Ayato's parents. TFTC
