I watched Otis from the shadows as he consistently hacked his sword in endless downward vertical slashes, releasing bursts of black energy that travelled toward the mindless creatures in front of him.

'That's his signature move,' I thought to myself, having witnessed it a couple of times in the past. 

Although it was a far cry from how powerful it was from my last memory, Otis was not doing badly for someone at the initial stages of mastering his signature technique.

I couldn't help but keep observing as he relentlessly tried to execute the technique over and over again. From my viewpoint, it seemed to me like he was not just attacking a bunch of foes, but also trying to familiarise himself with the technique.

'Midnight Slash,' I recollected the name of this technique. 'It seems pretty weak at this level.'
