*Gulp*
"Hmm?" Houryu turned over to the direction of the sound and saw Wang Qui'er looking at him, almost drooling at the scent of the ramen wafting through the air.
"What is that? It smells so good…" Qui'er asked.
"...Oh this… It's ramen… limited edition tonkotsu cup ramen to be precise." Houryu replied.
"Cup ramen?"Qui'er looked confused.
'Oh… I forgot this world's current technology is not focused on food.' Houryu thought as he wondered why Qui'er would ask such a basic question.
"Cup ramen is literally just dried noodles inside cups, and they are preservable for quite a while. All you need to do when you want to eat it is to just add some hot water, wait for a few minutes, and voila, you have this," Houryu held up the cup of ramen.
"I have some more… You want some?" He asked.
"Y…"
"Nope… you can't have any." Houryu cuts in while she's replying.
"You!" Wang Qui'er picked up a rock and threw it at him with great force. The rock hit Houryu on the head and he fell backward, but suddenly shattered into pieces of glass that split up even more to become butterflies that flew away in different directions, greatly confusing Wang Qui'er.
"Try to aim better next time, haha." Houryu's voice suddenly came from behind her. She quickly turned around to see Houryu sitting on the ground, leisurely eating his ramen, with a bottle of wine beside him. She turned back towards where she threw the stone and then back to Houryu once again, "How…? When…?" She blubbered in absolute confusion at his sudden displacement.
Houryu just sat and enjoyed her look of absolute confusion without bothering to explain. A couple of minutes later, Yuhao came back with some berries that he offered to Wang Qui'er, who while no longer having that confused look on her face, now had a thoughtful one.
"So sour!" Wang Qui'er said with a cute expression, having her tongue out after eating one of the berries that Yuhao offered to her.
"Haha." Yuhao laughed in response and even Houryu smiled at the cute expression on her face.
"Huo Yuhao, you did it on purpose didn't you?" Wang Qui'er cried out in annoyance at being tricked twice in just a few minutes by two different people. She was about to start chasing him when the sour taste in her mouth disappeared and a cool and refreshingly sweet taste replaced it.
"The nutritionist professor once said that berry is just like life, it's both sweet and sour," Yuhao said to Wang Qui'er with a smile.
'That depends… on if a cranky ass celestial doesn't feel like ruining your life for no reason.' Houryu suddenly thought as he heard Yuhao's voice, causing him to remember some things and dampening his carefree mood.
He was about to call out to Yuhao and Qui'er that they should continue their search when he saw Qui'er swing her golden spear toward Yuhao.
*Schwiiing* The golden dragon spear cut through the pouch that was in Yuhao's hands, slicing through all the berries that were in the pouch.
"Hey! You?! They've all been crushed!"
"Wang Qui'er, what are you doing?" Yuhao asked surprised at her outburst.
"I won't give someone something that I like," Wang Qui'er stated very clearly.
"You're… just a lunatic," Yuhao said visibly trembling with rage at her reason for her actions.
"What? Wanna fight?" Wang Qui'er stood her ground.
"..."
"I'll demand an explanation from you when we return to school," Yuhao said and then walked off.
'...'
'I'm happy that we're finally getting a move on… and I also agree with not giving something I like to someone else… But what is the reason for this whole fiasco?' Houryu scratched his head in thought as he wasn't paying attention when their quarrel began. Houryu got up and started following them again as they began to look for Yuhao's companions.
They searched and searched until the sky began to darken and annoyingly enough, they saw marks and footprints to indicate that they were also being searched for, but somehow, they kept missing each other like it was some cruel joke.
It was now dark out and Yuhao and Wang Qui'er stopped for a rest, intending to continue searching for their companions later. Houryu's irritation was now at its peak especially after seeing signs that they had just barely missed each other's locations, and the annoying fact that he still couldn't use his powers to their full extent annoyed him to no end, so he decided to go away from Yuhao and Wang Qui'er's current location and get some air and some time alone to himself.
Houryu stood up, ignoring the looks he got from Yuhao and Wang Qui'er at his sudden movement, and began to walk towards the nearest groove of trees when he suddenly heard a rustling from the bushes causing him to pause and immediately activate his Sharingan.
With his Sharingan, he saw 6 wolves closing in on their location. Behind him, Yuhao and Wang Qui'er also stood up abruptly, as Yuhao had also noticed the incoming threat and had shared his vision with Wang Qui'er.
The wolves finally came out of the bushes and faced them directly. Yuhao seemed to be getting an intense dangerous reaction from his eye of destiny so he quickly struck first, sending a mental attack at the wolves that should have weakened them, but instead,
"AWOO!!" The wolves suddenly howled and then what followed was cracking and breaking sounds of bones popping as the wolves suddenly started transforming, turning into a more humanoid shape and standing on their hind legs.
"Hmm? I didn't know this world had werewolves?" Houryu wondered with an eyebrow raised, ignoring Yuhao's rant of how they were mutant spirit beasts that were very rare and whatnot.
The wolves had transformed into werewolves, yet they just stood there, without attacking as if waiting for the right time to attack. One of the werewolves suddenly opened its mouth and spat out a greenish fog toward where Yuhao and Wang Qui'er stood.
"Wang Qui'er, be careful!"
"There's poison in the fog!" Yuhao called out as he noticed Wang Qui'er already running toward the green fog. Wang Qui'er charged into the green fog, her body emitting a golden aura that dispersed the fog upon contact, but while Wang Qui'er was doing that, the werewolves took that time to surround both Houryu and Yuhao in splits of three.
Houryu looked at the three werewolves that surrounded him with intrigue as he wasn't explaining such a display of tactics from spirit beasts which were supposed to be without much intelligence.
Suddenly the werewolves surrounding Houryu released their spiritual energies, causing a great shock to Houryu because the moment he sensed their spiritual energy, he immediately noticed that they were matching each other.
"What the hell…!"
