章節 19: Keiran
After the Fight:
When Aren saw that the fight was over, he quietly stood up. Without rushing, he walked straight toward Keiran. He felt a slight tension inside, but it was unfamiliar to him. Trying to ignore this strange sensation, he spoke with a blank expression:
"Hey, it's been a while, pink head."
Keiran turned his head when he heard the familiar voice. The person approaching him was dressed in strange clothes, with a stuffed spider on their back. He smiled slightly and nodded.
"Looks like you've grown," he said, keeping his eyes on Aren. "Or did your Vex ability awaken?"
Aren looked at him steadily.
"How do you know?" he asked.
Keiran chuckled lightly and shrugged.
"I noticed the first time we met. Back then, your aura was weak, but now... Even if you're trying to hide it, it's obvious. Vex users can sense each other's energy. Yours is like an uncontrolled spark," he said, his tone mocking.
Aren's eyebrows furrowed slightly.
"So, you're a Vex user too."
After a brief pause, Keiran smiled.
"Yes," he replied calmly.
Aren slowly moved his hands into a fighting stance in response. Keiran raised his hands in the air, shaking his head side to side.
"Don't," he said in a cheerful tone. "I just got out of a fight, calm down. Come on, let's get something to eat, we can talk."
Aren's gaze lingered for a moment, then his shoulders relaxed. He nodded slightly.
"Fine."
Keiran suddenly quickened his pace and threw an arm around Aren's shoulder. They were almost the same height.
"We're going to get along just fine," he said, as if starting a casual conversation.

At the Restaurant:
When they entered the restaurant, there was a faint smell of food in the air. The dim lights over the tables gave the place a peaceful atmosphere. Without saying a word, Aren headed to the table in the far corner and sat down silently. Keiran followed, looking around before settling comfortably across from him. He picked up the menu, the usual lazy smile on his face.
"What are you having?" he asked. "The meat here is good, it'll take the edge off your tiredness," he added with a teasing tone.
Aren didn't even bother looking at the menu.
"I don't care," he said, his eyes fixed on a corner of the table.
After placing their orders, Keiran leaned back in his chair and took a deep breath. He stared at Aren, tilting his head slightly.
"Your Vex ability awakened, but you don't look too sharp. What's wrong?" he asked, a hint of curiosity in his eyes.
Aren looked directly at him, but his expression remained unchanged. He wasn't sure what he was feeling. There was something undefined inside him, but he didn't know what it was. He didn't answer the question. After a moment of examining Keiran's eyes, he lowered his head slightly.
"Do you know the Genetic Control Office?" he asked in a low, emotionless voice.
Keiran's smile faded slightly, but his face remained relaxed. He shrugged casually.
"Of course, I know. They came after me once, but couldn't catch me. Then they put me on the red list. They were pissed off at their own mistakes. Pretty funny, huh?"
Aren watched his casual and carefree attitude.
"The red list, huh?" It didn't really matter to him. Without hesitation, he asked another question.
"Have you heard of the 13th Ship?"
Keiran raised his eyebrows slightly.
"The 13th Ship? No, never heard of it. What's that?"
Aren took a deep breath and spoke without lifting his gaze from the table.
"It departs in a month. The Genetic Control Office's men will be on board. I'll be hunting them there."
Keiran leaned forward, his interest piqued by this information.
"Really? Wow, that sounds fun. Why didn't you tell me before? Mind if I join?" he asked with a playful tone.
Aren gave him a brief look. Keiran's constant teasing and relaxed attitude were annoying, but at the same time, he sensed a dangerous power behind it. He thought for a moment, still not taking his eyes off Keiran. Finally, he made a small nod before rolling his eyes.
"Fine. But don't be a burden."
Keiran responded with a small smile.
"A burden? You'll be glad to have me by your side. You'll see," he said confidently.
Aren didn't acknowledge his carefree attitude. Keiran's presence was still somehow unsettling, but having him around for a dangerous mission might actually prove useful. Either way, they'd be side by side on the 13th Ship.

At Keiran's Place:
Keiran's place was exactly what you'd expect from him; random items scattered about, half-empty pizza boxes, strange posters on the walls, and practically no sense of order. Aren walked in, gave the room a brief glance, and silently went into the living room. When he found a place to sit, his shoulders dropped slightly as he took a deep breath.
Keiran closed the door behind him and kicked off his shoes.
"Welcome to my place! Don't let the mess scare you," he said in a cheerful voice. Noticing Aren's impassive face, a faint smile appeared on his own.
"You'll get used to things like this once you get to know me."
Aren didn't reply as he looked around. The disorganization in the room was a clear reflection of Keiran's chaotic energy. Still, Aren tried not to focus on what he was feeling inside. His mind was clouded, and he couldn't yet predict what spending the next month with this man would be like.
Keiran threw himself onto the couch, arms behind his head as he stretched out.
"So, you're after something big, huh? It takes guts to go after the Genetic Control Office. But hey, we've got a month until the 13th Ship. You need to relax. You won't make it if you don't."
Aren turned his eyes toward him, his face as emotionless as ever.
"I'm relaxed," he said, his voice just as monotone.
Keiran turned his head and gave him a playful grin.
"Relaxed, huh? Okay, if you say so. But you need to learn how to have a little fun, or this whole thing will get real boring."
