Even if they were alive, they could only follow Dong Zhuo's whims which infuriated them, especially Huangfu Song who already had a beef with Dong Zhuo. When they agree, Xu Kai with the help of Mi Zhu's contact begins to prepare to smuggle 3 clans out of Luoyang which is not a small feat.
While Xu Kai was preparing to smuggle the generals and their families out, Dong Zhuo began to do whatever he wanted. After promoting himself to the Excellency Of Works, the officials who opposed him were either deposed or killed by him.
Dong Zhuo's conduct towards the Imperial court and the imperial officials was bullying, oppressive, and frequently bloody. This prompted influential nobles such as Yuan Shao, Yuan Shu, and Cao Cao to oppose him, which Dong Zhuo held back from killing due to Li Ru's persuasion.
Li Ru then suggested to Dong Zhuo to depose Emperor Shao that's is Liu Bian, and change the Emperor to Liu Xie Prince of Chenliu Liu Bian's brother, and named him Emperor Xian.
Dong Zhuo agreed with this plan, so he approached Yuan Shao who is the leader of the Noble to discuss his plan with him. Yuan Shao who was enticed by the prospect of having more power at the time disagreed with Dong Zhuo's suggestion.
This refusal caused the relationship between the two to deteriorate even further, Yuan Shao saw this and feared for his life to escape to Ji Province and Yuan Shu followed suit fleeing to Nanyang Commandery.
At the time, Yuan Shao had just gotten through the city gates, Dong Zhuo thought about sending men after him, but Zhou Bi, Wu Qiong, and He Yong secretly helped Yuan Shao by convincing Dong Zhuo to let him go.
As suggested by the three men, Dong Zhuo appointed Yuan Shao as the Administrator of the Bohai Commandery in a bid to appease him and Yuan Shu as the Administrator of Nanyang.
Losing two of their political heavyweight, Cao Cao resumed the position of Yuan Shao representing the Noble at the Imperial Court. When Dong Zhuo saw there was no more opposition, deposed Emperor Shao and replaced him with Liu Xie or Emperor Xian, Empress Dowager He could only watch this happen without any resistance.
Dong Zhuo then declared himself Chancellor of the State, becoming the head of the imperial court in Luoyang causing massive protests and chaos. This caused much opposition from inside the Imperial Court itself, abusing his power and even daring to put the younger Liu Xie on the throne decorating himself regent.
The opposition was purged, and Dong Zhuo then threw a lavish banquet to celebrate his rise to power. Wang Yun keep leading the officials that dared to oppose Dong Zhuo's reign of terror, but their resistance to Dong Zhuo's reign is futile.
Xu Kai and the Orioles were going in and out of the palace every day, while preparing to smuggle the old generals and their families out they also collected information about Dong Zhuo and the states of his army, how much and how experienced.
2 weeks passed by, and Dong Zhuo's reign became more and more tyrannical. He goes in and out of the Imperial Harem like it's his own, sleeping with the ladies and concubines of the deceased Emperor Ling.
Many people tried to kill him this past 2 weeks, but Lu Bu Dong Zhuo's foster son and bodyguard are always at his side. With his Martial might and prowess, all assassins, spies, and mercenaries were wiped out by Lu Bu before they even reached Dong Zhuo.
When Xu Kai's preparations were done, he and the old generals were waiting for the right moment to smuggle themselves out of Luoyang. Suddenly there's news that Cao Cao tried to assassinate Dong Zhuo but failed, he is now on the run with his cousins fleeing Luoyang.
The entirety of Dong Zhuo's forces are focused on chasing Cao Cao and his cousins, this created the perfect moment for the old generals and their families to be smuggled out. As Cao Cao is fleeing through the eastern gate, heading toward Yan Province Xu Kai told Mi Zhi's contact to get out from the western gate.
From there they will go to Hongnong, then go with Wan, then go east passing Runan and Shouchun, and lastly go north to their destination Xiapi. They will spend more time but it's safer than walking through the eastern gate, where Dong Zhuo's forces are focused on there right now.
Xu Kai: "General Zhu Jun and the others, rest assured that my people will be watching you from the shadows to keep all of you safe."
Zhu Jun: "Thank You, Xu Kai. Are you sure it's okay for three clans such as ours to disappear without any traces whatsoever and causing suspicion?"
Lu Zhi: "Old Zhu, I think this is the only way we can leave even if it's suspicious. Don't you see how Yuan Shao's clan will be treated, if not because of the persuasion of those old foxes all of them will be dead by now."
Huangfu Song: "Fortunately the one guarding Hongnong right now is a subordinate of mine, we can pass safely and I think Dong Zhuo will not realize we are gone until we pass through Hongnong."
Xu Kai: "As General Lu Zhi and Huangfu Song said, it doesn't matter now, and don't worry it will be safe, My Lord still has a say in the military matters of the Han Dynasty so when you pass through Runan a detachment of soldier will be there waiting to protect you."
That night following their plan, Xu Kai and the oriole disguised as City Guards take control of the western gate. There, Kong Hao Mi Zhu's contact acts as a leader of a big Merchant Caravan that will bring their merchandise to sell in Liang Province.
Even though Xu Kai and the Orioles managed to infiltrate disguised as the City Guards, there were also Dong Zhuo soldiers guarding the gate. Fortunately, with a little bribe, they passed through easily, and from there Zhu Jun, Huangfu Song, and Lu Zhi alongside their family began a long drive to Xiapi.
Just like Xu Kai and Lu Zhi predicted, when the party managed to pass through Hongnong, Dong Zhuo, and Ki Ru realized that the influential generals alongside their families were gone.
Dong Zhuo was angry and even ordered the execution of the soldier guarding the western gate, alongside some Court Officials whom he thought helped the generals escape from Luoyang causing another blood spilled in the Imperial Court.
All of this news and information about what happened in Luoyang, arrived at Lie Fan's and Jia Xu's table as a report from Oriole. In the future when people find these letters, Lie Fan and Jia Xu will be called The Political Puppeteers with their presence everywhere guiding the downfall of the Han Dynasty as they let all of this happen.
