章節 23: Chapter twenty three- first crew member and heavy explosions
Miss Monday was speechless as she heard the offer, this was completely out of the blue for her, she had never expected to be defeated. She had always prided herself on her strength and was always able to shut any man up that dared to mess with her, but this guy was completely different it would seem. She was used to men always looking down on her because she was a woman, that was why she had trained as hard as she had to become as strong as she was, but this guy, despite what he said she could tell there was no heat behind his words he had been goading her into attacking him and she had fell right into it, he was strong there was no doubt in her mind about that now. And now he was asking her to join him, to become a pirate, she didn't know what to say.
Gabriel watched on not knowing what thoughts were going through miss Monday's mind as she looked up at him. In truth he had always thought that her defeat at the hands of Mr five in the anime had been a waste of an interesting character, yes he knew she somehow lived after the attack but at the same time he could see she had potential to grow to become even stronger and it was that kind of strength that he wanted for his crew, leaving her to peak here in paradise would be a waste.
"Why?" Miss Monday asked after a few moments thinking, "why would you ask me that, you clearly beat me, if you landed that last attack I would be dead now, why spare me and ask me to join you?"
Gabriel tilted his head as he pondered her question before replying, "you lost that is true, but you're a good person, you're strong and have the potential to become even stronger, you are exactly the kind of person that I want on my crew."
Hearing his answer, she was confused, "but you're a pirate, what dose any of that have to do with joining your crew?"
He smirked at her retort, "just because I'm a pirate doesn't make me that kind of a pirate, I'm not the kind to pillage towns and hurt innocents. And neither is the crew I'm currently traveling with. I became a pirate because of a dream that I have. I fight marines because they attack me, and I fight other pirates because that's just things pirates do. I don't take lives unnecessarily, killing is pointless to me" he stated.
She frowned even more when she heard that, this was even more confusing now, "but you have a bounty of twenty-three million?"
Gabriel shrugged, "that's because I helped bring down a pirate with a bounty of twenty million who was lording over innocent villages, right before I beat the shit out of this corrupt rat faced marine who was taking money to look the other way and tried to come in and take all the money that belonged to the towns folk and the marines at headquarters all got their panties in a bunch over it"
Listening to him she could tell he was speaking the truth and she knew from her own experiences that the marines had their fair share of corrupt bastards in their lot, she didn't doubt him for a second that he had come across one such individual.
Slowly she got to her feet and took a breath wincing from the pain in her ribs thanks to his blow before looking him in the eye, "you said you had a dream, what is it?" she asked.
Gabriel smiled and told her. She just stood there and stared for several long seconds before letting out a loud bellow of laughter clutching her ribs but continued despite the pain, he let her because he could tell that she wasn't laughing at him.
After a minute of full laughing she stood up again and gave him a smile, "Damn, you don't dream small do you, the only thing bigger than that is going after the one piece"
Gabriel shrugged, "that's Luffy's dream, I couldn't care less about some treasure that far away, I just want to be recognised for my strength and turn the world on its head while doing it." he said smirking back at her, "so what do you say, wanna join the crew of the future greatest Yonko?"
Her smile turned into a grin as she gave another chuckle before shrugging herself, "Sure, why not, it sounds like a hell of a ride, and being recognised as one of the strongest on a crew like that sounds like something right up my alley"
Gabriel smirked, "welcome aboard then miss…" he asked as he held out his hand to her.
She took it smiling, "call me Keren, captain." She said as they shook hands.
Gabriel nodded, "glad to have you" just as he heard a ding in his ear telling him that the first quest was complete but didn't look at the notification for now as he ended the hand shake, "come on, I have a promise to a princess to keep" he said and gestured to her to follow.
"Hn?" Keren said confused by what he meant but followed anyway.
It didn't take them long to find the others, Igaram was currently on his knees with Zoro standing in front of him with a sword either side of his head, Vivi was frozen to the spot a few meters away with her eyes wide.
"I see you're all finished up too?" Gabriel said as they walked over to them, "Don't kill him,"
"Hm?" Zoro said as he looked back at Gabriel to see Keren behind him, "What's going on?" he asked suspiciously.
"Keren here has joined my crew, she's a friendly now," he explained as they stopped a few feet away before looking at Igaram, "as for this one, I have a prior arrangement with miss Wednesday, she's an ally of hers and no enemy of ours" he stated.
Zoro was confused but retracted his swords as he stepped back, "what do you mean?"
Igaram looked confused as well but Gabriel shook his head, "I'll explain later, right now we have company," he said as he gestured ahead of them to two figures approaching from down the road, "looks like I was right princess, you've been discovered" he said with a glance at Vivi.
Hearing his last comment Igaram's eyes widened, 'he knows' before he looked to the figures coming towards them and instantly felt a cold sweat on his brow as he realised who they were.
Zoro looked to Gabriel, "want to fill me in?" he asked not liking being left out of the loop.
Gabriel shook his head, "Just watch the girl and goldilocks here, I'll go deal with these two" he said before looking over his shoulder, "Nami get your fine ass out here, there's money to be made" he called.
Nami who was keeping hidden behind a wall instantly blushed heavily when he heard the first part of his comment about her ass and was about to yell at him for it before hearing the magic word, "Money" and the next second she was beside him so fast it was like she teleported.
"Money?" she asked with beri signs in her eyes.
Gabriel chuckled, and gestured to Vivi, "princess in need of escort back to kingdom, negotiate for your crew before Luffy wakes up, I've got people to fight" he said in a brief explanation before he turned to face the two and began to walk forward.
"Captain," Keren said with concern, "that's Mr five and Miss Valentine, they are much stronger than the officers here, are you sure you don't want some.." she began to offer her aid.
Gabriel shook his head and cut her offer off, "it's fine, I can handle them, just hang back and keep Vivi safe, I already promised I'd help her so this is me keeping that promise" he stated and continued to walk forward.
Keren watched him for a minute before sighing and nodding before looking to Miss Wednesday aka Vivi and smirked, "so you really are a princess after all"
Nami just looked at Vivi with beri signs in her eyes.
Vivi could not help but chuckle a little nervously at the pair of them before looking at Gabriel's back with worry, would he really be okay facing two officer agents of that strength alone.
A minute later Gabriel he came to a stop a good distance away from the group and stood in the middle of the road with his staff resting against his shoulder as he stood with his arms crossed as he looked at the approaching pair with a blank look on his face considering the pair as they approached.
Mr Five and miss Valentine came to a stop a few meters ahead of him before stopping both considering him as well.
"just what is this supposed to be," Mr five asked with a frown, "you supposed to be some kind of monk, or something"
"Looks like some sort of street performer if you ask me" miss valentine giggled as she twirled her parasol.
Gabriel just remained silent still, his expression never changing as he looked at them. After a few seconds of no response Mr five started to get irritated, "get out of the way, we have business in that town behind you"
Gabriel shrugged, "that's precisely why I will not let you pass, I made a promise you see, and I don't like not keeping my word once I give it"
"Tsk" Mr five rolled his eyes behind his shades, "so you're some kind of bodyguard is that it,"
Miss valentine giggled, "he wants to protect the princess how cute"
"I'll give two options" Gabriel said, "one, leave now and we can forget we ever crossed paths" he stated as he grabbed his staff while still keeping his arms folded before drawing a line in the dirt in front of him and stepping over it, "or two, try and cross this line and regret it"
That seemed to piss mr five off even more than him remaining silent, "is this some kind of joke"
Gabriel shook his head as he flexed his shoulders and shrugged off his kimono top letting his haori fall to the ground behind him on the other side of the line, only to be joined by his hat, "I don't joke about these kinds of things" he said as he gripped his staff, "last chance"
Mr five gritted his teeth looking at Gabriel with annoyance bordering on hate thinking he was being looked down on, while miss Valentine was having other thoughts as she looked at him.
'oh yummy, he looks good enough to eat' she thought as she eyes his abs, and muscular arms, 'such a shame he's not going to move and we have to kill him, what a waste'
Seeing them not turning away Gabriel nodded, "Very well then, you leave me no choice" he said as he let out a sigh, while various thoughts went through his head about the pair.
That pushed Mr five over the edge, "you punk" he spat before rushing toward Gabriel with his arms outstretched, "I'll teach you not to mess with…" that was all he got out before Gabriel made his move.
As soon as Mr five was within range he took a single step forward and thrust his butt of his staff forward towards Mr fives head, Mr five being so overconfident in his devil fruit powers didn't even think to dodge it expecting to cause an explosion as soon as it touched him but the second the sea stone end of the staff came into contact with his skin it nullified his fruits powers making him unable to explode and ran face first into the staff and was knocked backwards off his feet.
Seeing his first attack successful Gabriel took a second step forward as he spun his staff around brought it down end first into Mr fives gut and slammed him to the ground hard making his mouth open as spittle came out and the wind was forced out of him.
Taking a step back Gabriel spun his staff and resumed his first position waiting for Mr five to make a move.
Mr five scowled as he got up, "bastard," he snarled and threw a punch at him ready for it to explode on contact and being warry of his staff this time, but Gabriel didn't move to use his staff and let the punch come and for an explosion to consume him.
Mr five smirked as he saw the explosion happen as expected and took back his fist, "all talk" he said only to be surprised when the end of the staff came out of the smoke and caught him in his throat making him gag and stumble back and fall to one knee.
The smoke cleared a second later revealing Gabriel to be completely unharmed, unseen to everyone watching he had phased the second after the punch had touched him making his opponent believe his attack had landed while hiding his abilities.
"what…" Mr five gasped out only to be silenced as he was once more struck much harder by the butt of Gabriel's staff across his forehead this time and knocked out as a result.
Pure silence filled the air in the seconds that followed as everyone looked on having seen Gabriel practically demolish Mr five.
Gabriel himself ignored the notification of his victory over mr five for the moment and looked to miss valentine who was looking at him with her mouth agape.
"last chance miss, leave or end up just like him" Gabriel said plainly.
Miss Valentine looked at him and one thought crossed over her mind as she did, 'strong' she thought before narrowing her eyes, 'but how strong is he, I bet even he won't be able to take me at my full weight' she thought confidently as she reduced her weight with her devil fruit powers and jumped up into the air.
"Don't underestimate me, I'm not some weakling like him" she yelled as she climbed higher and higher into the air.
Gabriel watched her go and shook his head, 'one trick pony, what a waste of potential' he thought before taking another step forward to stand his ground.
Miss Valentine grit her teeth, 'just because you're good looking doesn't mean you can look down on me you prick' she thought to herself, as she brought her knees up under herself as she got into position, "try this on for size, ten thousand kilogram press" she said a second before she began to hurtle towards the ground and Gabriel.
And as everyone is probably expecting by now. Gabriel phased.
Miss valentine continued straight on not knowing what was about to happened and drove herself straight through him and right into the ground.
Gabriel shook his head as the bell sound echoed in his ear twice telling him that he had beaten her on top of completing the second mission. Stepping back, he picked up his hat and haori and began to walk back towards the others, each of whom were openly gaping having witnessed everything that had just happened.

PsyChotiX556 Just a quite note before any of you start complaining about Gabriel being OP all of a sudden, it’s just that in my opinion Gabriel’s devil fruit powers are the absolute perfect counter to both Mr Fives and Miss Valentines, think about it before you leave a flame review
