章節 258: Chapter 258: Daily Life: The Official Welcome Gift for Joining the Crew

Baltigo was an island surrounded by yellow sands and scattered with boulders, giving it a barren appearance. It was also the current secret base of the Revolutionary Army, a highly concealed location.

Takumi hadn't expected to head to the Revolutionary Army's hideout so soon...

It seemed that the next mission would most likely involve Dragon.

Oh, and there was one more person...

Thanks to a certain someone, Takumi felt a headache whenever he thought of Sabo.

"All done," Enel returned, shaking off dust from his hands. "This place is pretty boring. Are we staying here any longer?"

Snapping out of his thoughts, Takumi shook his head. "No need. Let's head to the next destination."

"Wait a minute," Kaku asked in surprise. "So, why did we even come to Enies Lobby? Was it just to destroy the Gates of Justice?"

"Of course," Enel said smugly, as if he had figured it all out. "We came here to give the World Government a slap in the face by breaking the Gates of Justice. Although, I didn't expect to accidentally reveal your cover as a spy. I bet Takumi didn't expect that either."

As Enel and Kaku both turned to look at Takumi, he calmly turned his back to them, using Observation Haki to locate where their ship was hidden earlier. He started walking toward it, casually saying, "I knew all along."

"Huh?" Enel and Kaku were both stunned.

"Wait!" Enel quickly followed. "What do you mean 'you knew all along'? Are you saying you knew Kaku was with the World Government from the moment he boarded our ship?"

Takumi responded simply, "Yes."

Kaku rushed to catch up, disbelief in his voice. "That's impossible! When I arrived in Water 7, I didn't show any signs of being a spy. Captain, how did you know?"

Takumi replied indifferently, "Sixth sense."

Kaku: "..."

"Tch! So I was the only one who didn't know Long Nose was a spy?" Enel asked, clearly annoyed.

Takumi casually responded, "Seems like it."

Enel glared at Kaku.

Kaku awkwardly chuckled, "Don't look at me. Back then, I was just a low-level assassin. I didn't have a choice about where I was sent to infiltrate."

"Are you regretting it now?" Enel asked, gritting his teeth.

Kaku waved his hands. "No, no. Honestly, things turned out pretty well. All my life, I've been in situations where even a small slip-up could mean death. I've always had to push myself to get stronger just to survive, and no one ever cared about me. I never had any friends. After what happened today, I've come to realize that staying on this ship is a blessing. Thank you both for not giving up on me. It's good to stay on board."

"Do you think I'll forgive your betrayal just because you said that?" Enel scoffed. "I finally understand why Takumi wanted to come to Enies Lobby. It wasn't just to destroy the Gates of Justice—it was mainly to make you willingly stay on the ship."

After a moment of silence, Enel continued, "When you were revealing everything in that cowardly officer's office, Takumi was already outside the window, listening the whole time. He didn't come in until after you apologized to me. You should count yourself lucky. If you hadn't seized that chance, you'd probably be dead by now."

As Enel's words sank in, Kaku thought about it and realized it did seem to be the case...

"Hey, you two, hurry up," Takumi's voice echoed in their minds through telepathy, urging them impatiently.

The two of them exchanged a glance and immediately quickened their pace to catch up.

Once they were back on the ship, Enel, familiar with the controls, quickly used his abilities to get the ship airborne.

"So, where to next?" Enel asked, looking at Takumi.

Takumi glanced at the system's navigation, then pointed in the direction of Baltigo. "Next stop is Baltigo. It's a bit farther this time."

"You said the last place was close, and we drifted for three days. If this one's far, how long will it take? Half a month?" Enel asked skeptically.

Takumi answered nonchalantly, "Maybe. If you keep going without rest, we might get there in about that time."

"Baltigo... Never heard of that island," Kaku muttered, rubbing his chin. "But it's impressive, Captain. Navigating the Grand Line, with its unpredictable weather and magnetic fields, without a Log Pose, and still being able to pinpoint where we're going and how long it'll take... That's amazing."

"Heh, Long Nose, you're only realizing now how impressive Takumi is?" Enel laughed. "Who needs some useless Log Pose? Our captain is a walking, talking, 100% accurate compass!"

The moment Enel finished speaking, Takumi leaped up and delivered a solid punch to his head.

Enel stumbled, losing his balance and collapsing onto the deck, though he didn't crash through it this time.

"What's the deal? You don't usually hit that hard!" Enel complained, jumping to his feet with a larger bump than usual on his head.

"If you keep talking nonsense, I'll throw you into the sea," Takumi said coldly.

Enel blinked, then burst out laughing. "Ya-ha-ha-ha! I don't believe you'll actually do it! And even if you do, Long Nose will fish me out."

Kaku, rubbing his own nose, chimed in, "I'll only do what the captain says. If he says to save you, I'll save you. If not, then I won't."

Enel: "..."

"Haha, I'm going to patch myself up. But I'm not a doctor, so I can't fully set these broken bones myself. When we pass by a populated island, can I see a doctor?" Kaku asked, smiling despite his injuries.

"Sure," Takumi replied without hesitation.

After all, he had already said he wouldn't heal Kaku as part of his punishment. That was just the price Kaku had to pay.

But punishment aside, there was still a reward to be given.

Without dwelling on it, Takumi retrieved three Devil Fruits from the system's storage and placed them in front of Kaku. "Pick one."

"Huh? Are these... Devil Fruits?" Kaku asked, shocked.

Enel was also taken aback. "What's going on? You've got three of them?"

Takumi's expression remained indifferent. "No weaklings are allowed on my ship. Consider this your official welcome gift for joining."

"A Devil Fruit as a welcome gift for joining the crew..." Kaku was speechless. "Captain, you're too generous to me."

"Wait, hold on," Enel interrupted, clearly displeased. "An official welcome gift? Then why didn't I get anything when I joined? I object! This isn't fair!"

章節 259: Chapter 259: Daily Life: Something's Not Right With You

Takumi took out three Devil Fruits: the Clear-Clear Fruit, the Silent-Silent Fruit, and the Bounce-Bounce Fruit.

Although, according to the original storyline, Kaku was supposed to eat the Giraffe Model of the Ox-Ox Fruit, Takumi believed that the three fruits he had chosen would be more suitable for Kaku.

He didn't plan on telling Kaku the abilities of these three fruits right away. Instead, he decided to let Kaku pick one at random and leave the rest to luck.

As Enel continued to complain, Takumi completely ignored him.

Kaku, however, tried to comfort Enel, "The captain said earlier that he doesn't allow weaklings on the ship. This means he acknowledges your strength, so he didn't give you anything unnecessary."

Enel: "..."

"Is that true?" Enel turned to Takumi.

Although Takumi didn't really want to engage with him, he thought for a moment and then nodded.

Only then did Enel's expression soften.

Kaku scratched the back of his head with a smile. "Captain, what abilities do these three Devil Fruits have?"

Takumi remained calm, "Pick one first."

"Blind choice, huh?" Kaku rubbed his hands together, smiling mischievously. "Well then, let's leave it to luck. I'll choose the one in the middle!"

"Good luck," Takumi said as he tossed the selected fruit to Kaku. "That's the Silent-Silent Fruit."

As he spoke, he put the other two Devil Fruits back into the system storage.

Kaku caught the fruit, curiosity gleaming in his eyes. "What ability does the Silent-Silent Fruit have?"

Enel, picking his ear, scoffed, "Doesn't sound very powerful."

Takumi replied simply, "It's a counter to Observation Haki."

"A counter to... Observation Haki?" Kaku was stunned.

Enel was equally shocked. "You've gotta be kidding... How can anything counter Observation Haki?"

"If that's true, this Silent-Silent Fruit suits me perfectly," Kaku said, grinning. "Enel, maybe your lightning attacks won't hit me anymore."

"Ridiculous!" Enel retorted. "Even if you can dodge my Observation Haki predictions, there's no way you're faster than lightning. Don't get ahead of yourself, Long Nose."

"Hahaha!" Kaku laughed. "Once I finish developing my lightning-proof device and pair it with the Silent-Silent Fruit's ability, I won't fear your lightning anymore."

Enel: "..."

"Then I won't be polite—thank you, Captain, for the gift." Kaku immediately peeled the Silent-Silent Fruit and took a big bite.

The moment the fruit entered his mouth, his face twisted in disgust. Struggling against the urge to vomit, Kaku forced himself to swallow the bite. Afterward, he clutched his chest and began coughing violently.

"It tastes awful..." Kaku said, his face pale.

Seeing that more than half of the fruit was still left, Kaku was filled with dread.

Enel, noticing his misery, grinned mischievously, "Don't waste such a good thing. Hurry up and finish it all."

"Do I really have to eat the whole thing? Just one bite and I already feel like I'm dying..." Kaku groaned.

Since he was still injured, the disgusting taste had amplified his physical pain several times over. Eating more might be lethal...

"If you don't finish it, you won't gain the power," Enel said with a smirk. "To gain strength, you must pay a price. If you can't even handle this pain, you don't deserve the Devil Fruit's power. Stop dreaming."

In truth, eating just one bite of a Devil Fruit was enough to acquire its ability. The rest of the fruit was just tasteless, useless waste.

Both Enel and Takumi knew this.

Kaku, however, had no idea...

He actually believed Enel's words.

Staring at the remaining half of the Silent-Silent Fruit, Kaku gulped nervously and took a deep breath, bracing himself to take another bite.

But before he could, Takumi casually smacked the rest of the fruit out of his hand.

With a splash, the discarded fruit plunged into the sea, sinking out of sight.

Kaku was left dumbfounded.

Enel: "..."

Takumi calmly stated, "One bite is enough."

Enel protested, "Come on! I was having fun messing with Long Nose. Couldn't you just let me have this one?"

"If he passes out, are you going to cook?" Takumi asked.

Enel went silent.

Kaku sighed, exasperated, "So you were just messing with me..."

"Tch." Enel scoffed, "Fine. I'll be generous and let it slide this time, Long Nose. But don't forget you promised to make apple pie. I want meat too, boiled is fine. And don't skimp on the desserts. Oh, and we're out of juice in the fridge, so squeeze some fresh when we eat."

Kaku: "..."

After a moment of silence, Kaku sighed softly, "You really don't treat me like an injured man... Fine. It's still a while until mealtime, so I'll go patch myself up first. You'll have to help me out later."

Enel grumbled, "I'm not helping."

Kaku chuckled, "That won't do. I can't manage it all on my own. If you don't help, no desserts."

"You dare threaten me, Long Nose?"

"I wouldn't dare," Kaku replied innocently. After a pause, he asked, "By the way, how do I use this Devil Fruit ability?"

"Hahaha! So clueless," Enel laughed. "You just ate it, so not feeling anything right away is normal. Give it a bit, and you'll start to sense it. Then you just figure it out."

"Oh, okay. I'll go now. You focus on steering the ship," Kaku said, making his way to the cabin.

"That Long Nose is getting bolder and bolder!" Enel muttered, turning toward Takumi, who was walking to the ship's bow. "Captain, aren't you going to do something about him?"

Takumi replied while walking, "He's still not as bold as you."

Enel: "..."

"I'm bold because I've earned the right to be," Enel boasted. "Long Nose is weak. Acting tough will only get him beaten up."

Takumi chuckled, "And yet you get beaten up all the time."

Enel twitched, "That's different! You're the captain, and you're stronger than me. It's normal for me to get hit..."

Takumi: "..."

Seriously, does this guy ever reflect on why he's always getting beaten?

Takumi sighed, "You get hit because you run your mouth."

"Huh?" Enel blinked, watching Takumi prepare his fishing gear. In a flash of lightning, Enel appeared beside him. "Wait a second. You're talking more than usual today. And you, who never gives anything, actually gave a Devil Fruit as a gift. Something's not right, Takumi. You haven't come down with a fever, have you?"

Takumi turned to look at Enel, a chilling smile on his face. His tone was deceptively calm as he asked, "What did you just say?"
