Suddenly Ryu saw Hiruzen's deepest desire which is to make Konoha village to be safest village and strongest village in the world and the other one is to keep the will of fire going.
After looking at Hiruzen. Ryu looked at Danzo and he was shocked because he saw was a pure darkness.
He saw Danzo's deepest desire is to exterminate the uchiha clan and to make Konoha the ruler of the whole world.
As he finish looking at Danzo's desire, he turn his head and look at Orochimaru.
He saw Orochimaru's deepest desires is to become hokage and to learn all the jutsu around the world and there is also a desire to revive his dead parents.
After peeking at Orochimaru, he turn his head towards Jiraiya, you will see Jiraiya sticking his one finger on his nose while making an bored expression.
Ryu saw Jiraiya's deepest desire is to married Tsunade and have a happy family with her but the reality is too cruel that he died while not only making his dreams come true but also not receiving the affection he want from Tsunade.
After checking Hiruzen and the other's deepest desire he finally listened at Hiruzen wonderfull speech.
When Hiruzen finished his speech Ryu immediately leave and start preparing himself at the upcoming war.
