Chapter 48
Jennifer's POV
I slumped into a chair at the kitchen table, my mother bustling around the room as she prepared dinner. The weight of my frustration was evident in the downturn of my lips and the furrow in her brow.
I didn't know if I was the one imagining things, but I was suspecting that my mother and Richard were having an affair. At first, I felt I was just being paranoid, but lately, I was beginning to feel I wasn't.
Mother seemed to be involved in everything that Richard does and it was really getting me worried. I had attempted confronting her, but I knew it would only make me look stupid before everyone. Mother was old enough to be Richard's mom, and it wouldn't make sense to anyone who'd hear that I was accusing my mother of having an affair with my boyfriend.
"Jenny, what's wrong?" my mother asked, turning to face me with a concerned expression.
