To my surprise, there are a lot of free martial techniques available to the public. Of course, their grade is only rank 1, but still a pleasant surprise nonetheless.
I downloaded a body strengthening technique called 'Rock Wall' and a movement technique called 'Feather.'
The naming is a bit over the top, but I can't complain. I studied the two techniques, fully understanding them, and started to train.
'Rock Wall's' method is quite barbaric and painful. But according to the people who tried it, it was rewarding. All you need to do is keep hitting yourself and heal afterward.
So I put it aside for now. 'Feather' is just a combination of boxing footwork and dancing. But it gives fast movement and helps the body to be more agile."
As I began to train my footwork, I was getting harassed by some gang members. At first, it was just name-calling.
"HEY BALLERINA, COME LET ME GET YOU HOME."
"LOOK AT HIS MOVEMENT, YOU'RE KIND ARE ALREADY RANK 2 OR 3."
"I remember him, he was the guy that just lost weight," said one of the gang members to his friend.
"Ah, so he is just a newbie," commented the other.
If it were only words, I wouldn't care, but after I started to get good at the technique, and there was nothing to laugh at. They began to be violent.
"Hey newbie, you look too handsome for martial art; come home with me for some fun," asked one of the gang members, she was a girl. She put her hand over my shoulder, but I waved her away.
"Please let me be," I asked politely, not because I'm that kind or respectful, but if I did something more, they would gang up on me.
But it wasn't worth it. "She asked you with respect and you still refused? Are you gay or something?" claimed one of them from behind.
They kept this harassment on and on for the whole month. I was so tired of it. I changed parks and still found them. It's like they were after me.
And I snapped " Hey fuck off before I kill all of you." I said coldly.
I wish I didn't
'AH...OH, I messed up.' And that was the second time that I was chased by gangs.
This time, however, I was determined to survive.
"I was cornered in an alley, with 3 coming at me from the left and 2 from the right.
The girl was the leader, apparently, so she didn't dirty her hands.
I didn't wait for them to come closer. I grabbed the nearest trash basket and threw it at them. As their field of view was covered, I lunged at the closest one to me. With a punch in the face, I sent him flying.
I was surprised by my strength, but I didn't have much time to be fascinated. The other two next to him grabbed me from both hands, leaving my body exposed.
A third guy came at me. I kicked him hard with all my power, but to no avail; he effortlessly dodged my kick.
And the beating section starts. All kinds of kicks landed on me, leaving me unable to think or have time to scream.
"Is that what you've got, you piece of shit?"
"Be happy we didn't kill you, you bastard."
"If I see you again-----"
'Why, why, why is this happening again.' I was left there crying in a dark alley. I don't know if they knew what I was thinking about. Will they let me live?
"Do you need help?" I heard a girl's voice but didn't see anything."
"What do you want?" I asked.
"I'll help you, but you must help me too."
"Do I look like I'm in a position to help?" I whispered.
"Not now, you silly. In the future, you could help me easily," she asserted.
"Fine, please help me."
A pill appeared in my hand. I looked at it and swallowed it without thinking. And that's all I remembered from that nightmare.
"When I opened my eyes, I was on a hospital bed. I sighed in relief.
"Morning."
I heard the same voice again. I looked around but didn't find anything.
"So I started to hear things now, great."
"No, I'm real. Did you forget already?" The voice asked, disappointed.
"So you were real, hahaha. Thank God, I thought I was hallucinating."
"Thank you for your help earlier. What can I do for you?" Even though I can't see her, I feel like I'm talking to someone in my head.
"Make a contract with me," she answered directly.
"What kind of contract?" I started to feel anxious.
"Easy, I'm a system. To survive, I need a host. The said host will give me some sort of energy, and I will give him/her gifts and help them become stronger." She explained what she does, and I understood it quickly.
"Are there any side effects?" I inquired.
"No, but if the host is useless, I usually leave them."
"Is there more of your kind out there?"
This is a great power, and if there are more, it will be troublesome.
"Not in this universe. Every system is given a universe."
I had a sigh of relief. "Why did you choose me?"
"Because you are interesting, and I can feel that your desire for power is the greatest."
I smiled. "Alright, let's sign this contract."
And on this day, May 23, 2012, my life changed.
