"What do I call you?" I still didn't know her name.
"You can call me 'system' or give me a name," she answered indifferently.
"Alright, I will call you Reve."
"Alright, the pill you ate two days ago was 'Immortal Spirit Cleanse.' And—"
"Two days? I was in a coma all that time?" I panicked because I didn't have money to pay for the hospital.
"Yes, you were in really bad shape."
"Huh, I'm screwed." I let out a sigh and tried to calm down.
"Sorry to interrupt you. Please continue."
"Anyway, that pill is one of a kind, and no one knows about it on this planet," she began to explain. It was a pill that cleaned my body from all impurities and helped me advance more quickly. It also made my body more suited for martial arts.
The more she talked, the more excited I became. If I had this pill, and I was only 12 years old, by the time I'm 22, I would be king or even Emperor rank.
"That pill was my welcome gift. If you want something like that again, you would need to buy it from me," she explained.
"What currency do you use? I don't think a powerful being like yourself needs money."
"Yes, we don't," she sighed. "It's all because we need something. My mission is to gather data about the universe. That's why I will have to be with you until you die or go to another planet." She explained to me the purpose of the systems.
Apparently, the creature is some genius from somewhere called the Supreme Realm. But he can't move or travel, so he created those systems and sent each of them to a different universe.
At first, he just sent them there and used one of his abilities to help the person who got the system live a good life. But that didn't help the creature learn anything about the universes. So he modified the systems and made them demand compensation for the help.
That worked fine, but sometimes the host would refuse to do what they were asked for. So he started to punish them.
But this created new problems. After years of errors and repairs, he finally found a way. He made systems independent and gave the systems themselves missions so they could choose the most suitable host.
That brings us to my system. She didn't mention the mission, but she did mention that, by giving her money, that money would be saved in the system for future hosts. Then when she goes to a different planet or a different host on the same planet, she will have money to give to them as a reward for whatever she will ask from them in the future.
So all the pills and techniques or any kind of help I will get from her are the work results of the previous hosts.
What's more important is I'm the first host on this planet, and to my luck, this planet is too weak, and the weakest pill in the system is a treasure here.
"I understand, so all I need is money." I sighed and stood up from my bed to look at my reflection, still handsome as always, but my body is lighter and more muscular.
"I advise you to check your status," Reve reminded me, and I did just that.
Name: Noah Neemr.
Rank: Peak Apprentice.
Money: $2000.
Shop.
Power: 98.
I was shocked. I was sure that my power level was still in the early stage of rank 1.
Before I could ask, Reve reminded me, "It's because of the pill. The energy of the pill was more than enough to clean your body, so the remaining energy strengthened your body."
I nodded. This is really interesting. I opened the shop and was dumbfounded. The lowest level technique is $100,000, and the lowest pill is $500,000.
"Don't worry; as I absorbed earlier martial artists, I made a lot of money. So you won't need to worry about that," she assured me, which made me calm down a little bit.
As I was observing my body, the nurse walked in. "Oh my, you are awake!" She was startled. "Please sit back so we can do more exams." She took me by the hand and made me sit on my bed. She called the doctor, and they started to check my body. All I could hear from their whispers were, "Wow, how can this be? We need more tests."
"I'm surprised; you recovered too fast and also improved your body," the doctor asked suspiciously. I thought for a moment and answered him, "I tried the 'Rock Wall' technique; maybe all that beating helped me," I joked.
"A blessing in disguise, hahaha."
They laughed, and to my surprise, I didn't have to pay much, only $1000. I walked out of the hospital and went to a hotel. I was afraid to meet them again. Even though I'm a peak rank one, the weakest there was rank 2.
"What are you going to do about those gangs?" Reve asked suddenly.
"Kill all of them. No, from now on, I will make it my responsibility to kill any gang members I come across," I answered with a cold smile. I really hate gangs; for two lifetimes, they made my life miserable.
"Hehe, I see," Reve chuckled and stayed silent. I liked her personality; she is straightforward and honest. What I like most is that she doesn't annoy me.
After I checked into the hotel, I opened my phone and looked for some jobs to do.
"Hunt three criminals. $100,000 for the head.
Required: 4 rank 2 or 1 rank 3."
"Become a bodyguard for my daughter.
Required: rank 3 Female."
I came across hundreds of job offers, but none of them asked for a rank 1 or rank 2 martial artist.
"Be my daughter's sparring partner.
Required: peak rank 1 or early rank 2.
$5000 for the hour."
That's it.
