"Alright then, explain yourself. How did you turn into a vampire? How are you still here if your body has turned into a vampire? And what do you have to do with this particular place?" Orion calmed himself down, knowing that he needed to gather as much information as possible from the man.
"I don't mind explaining, but what happened to manners? You don't even introduce yourself and come demanding answers." The vampire-turned-human wizard replied, his tone shifting from his usual casual demeanour to a more complaining one.
Orion felt a twitch in his eyebrow upon hearing this, but he needed answers, so he just sucked it up.
"I'm Orion D. Ambrosius," he replied, irritation clear on his face. The man in the image almost choked when he heard Orion's name.
His eyes widened, and he immediately shouted, "Don't lie to me, boy! That name has long been buried with the history of time. There hasn't been an Ambrosius since..." He was saying more or, rather, wanted to say more, but he held back.
"Hey, that's my name. If you don't like it, then just don't call me that. You asked, and I told you. Now answer me—who are you, and why are you here?" Orion shouted back, clearly irritated.
'Why are all old men so irritating?' Orion thought, with a look that suggested a headache was coming.
Which was completely wrong, by the way, because he already had a pounding headache rocking inside his brain.
Seeing the powerful magic leaking from Orion, the picture fell silent. After a moment, he finally opened his mouth to speak.
"I'm Eric," the picture finally replied.
"And as for what I'm doing here, well, this is my mansion. Or, to be more exact, it used to be my mansion. Now I'm just a picture, nothing more," Eric replied with a shrug.
Orion had nothing to say to that. He remembered that he found this place while looking for those damn vampires, and Eric here also claimed that he turned into a vampire. Though this technically had nothing to do with Merlin, he was still interested in it.
After all, he might learn something about those vampires.
"I see. Let's talk about the elephant in the room directly," Orion diverted the conversation to the main point.
To this, Eric blinked. "Elephant in the room? Is that some phrase you youngsters like to use?" he asked in confusion.
Orion rolled his eyes at this. How old does someone have to be not to understand this age-old phrase used by God knows how many generations?
"What I'm asking is why and how you ended up turning into a vampire in the first place?" Orion asked after sighing.
"Ah... well, it was a curse, a long-standing curse that almost made me lose my mind. I withstood this curse for ages. I don't even know how long it's been since I turned into a vampire, let alone how long I fought against this curse.
I only know that I tried everything, anything and everything, to stop this from happening, but I couldn't do anything," Eric replied with a small, self-deprecating smile on his face.
Orion knew that the dead man in front of him wasn't telling him everything. Though he particularly had nothing to do with vampires, he was here to bring back Merlin or at least find a way to bring back Merlin. But he was again interested in knowing more about vampires.
If he wanted to eradicate this race, then he had to learn about them first. Now, if there was anything he hated more than not blasting those idiotic people who continued to annoy him—even though he had the power to turn them all to dust with a flick of his finger—it had to be those darn vampires.
Currently, calling Orion a Tobirama when it came to vampires wouldn't be wrong either.
"Okay, but that's not what I want to know. What I'm asking is how you ended up turning into a vampire in the first place," Orion asked again, not giving any leeway to Eric.
"Hmm... that's a long story. Not worth explaining everything," Eric replied, shaking his head.
"I don't think so. I, what you can say, have a personal vendetta against those vampires. I wouldn't mind knowing your story. I've got all the time in the world," Orion replied, trying to hold back the yawn that was threatening to escape.
Eric just stared at Orion, as if trying to see something in him, and after some time, he finally nodded.
"Fine, but get ready because this is going to take time."
"Great, my favorite pastime," Orion muttered, rolling his eyes.
