That night, Claudia stayed for dinner with Caroline. Besides, she also gave her a hand in bathing the baby and getting him ready for bed.

Leaving the laundry and the other chores to Emia, they finally got to rest after the baby fell asleep.

Claudia laid on Caroline's sofa. "I didn't expect that bathing a child would be such a tiring task."

With a smile, Caroline replied, "That is why mothers are the best."

After a while, Claudia sat up solemnly.

Caroline was still looking at the baby although she knew that Claudia wanted to say something.

They were in the bedroom, and the door was shut. If they were to talk in low voices, Emia wouldn't hear a thing from outside.

"Caroline, you and... I mean, you and the baby's father, what do you plan to do about it? I ran into him earlier downstairs," Claudia asked.

Caroline was still looking at the baby in the crib. She patted his arm gently and said, "Did he tell you anything?"
