I left his embrace but didn’t take off my eyes from him and quickly answered back, "I just graduated and my life had just started. I just want to work well, because my birth parents wished me to become a film actor. I want to pursue this dream not just only for me, but for my parents as well. But now that I'm pregnant, I can't go to work anymore. I can't do now what I wanted to do. I really don't want to get pregnant and have a baby this early. I'm not mentally prepared at all and I've heard that having a baby really hurts a lot."
After saying that last sentence, I cried even more.
He let me sit first on a bench. I sat down with my hands covering my face while I was crying too much. I felt his hand tapping my back and he was trying to calm me with his words,
"You don't have to worry about work. You can stop working first for a while and take a good rest instead. And when the child is born and you decided to continue working, I can also help you arrange with that. I am going to hire a nanny to take care of our baby. You don't have to worry about anything; you can still do whatever you want. And if you thought about of not working anymore, don’t worry about it as well as I will give you a fixed monthly allowance so you can live a rich life. As for your claim that childbirth hurts, I will help you find the best hospital and I will also find ways to ease your pain as much as possible."
I then continue sobbing. I really didn’t expect his words to be so much matured as this. He nothing thinks about but just my overall wellness and the baby’s.
His tone was free of the sharpness; his voice was lowered, sounding as if he were gently comforting me.
I found this surprising because I didn't expect someone like Haden to be able to soften his tone and soothe people. And as he continued,
"You don't have to be afraid, I'll do everything I can to help you. And we’ll gonna face all of this together as I promise", He bore his eyes into mine.
The warmth of his voice was very convincing and I really felt his sincerity. Hearing such words coming from him would really blow up your mind. He seems to act like as if he’s wasn’t my adopted brother and I feel like as if I was really her partner. And then I nodded again and asked,
"What should we do next?"
After hearing my thought, he answered me without further hesitations, "I'm going to tell my family that we're getting married.”
The thought of marrying Haden always made me feel weird.
I was absent-minded for a few days, how was I supposed to open my mouth?
But suddenly a conclusion came up again to my mind. That telling this to his family will make them confused and they will be shock as well considering that I am used to be a baby sister to him and then suddenly he will be marrying me? Of course, I am expecting that this were going to be their reactions. And to go further, they might even ask him why is it so sudden? So I dare to ask him,
“What if they ask you what is the reason why you’re suddenly marrying your used to be younger sister? Is there something that you guys have hidden to us? We should prepare with this possible questions they’ll going to throw us.”
He just stared at me with still having a calm face. Seems like he was ready for answering the possible questions and was so ready to confess the truth to them. He answered me directly, “then we’re going to tell them that I impregnated you. Because even if we hide it now, there will always come a day that this thing would be revealed”
And after this long conversation we have had, we finally went out of the hospital where the car was parked and go home already.
Then weekend came by, no one was at work, and Haden's car was parked outside.
"Why is my brother back? Could it be he's on another blind date? “Sara asked curiously.
I stiffened and immediately went back to my room and lit a cigarette.
Then suddenly I didn’t notice that Haden had followed me. To my surprised as I saw him standing next to my door with his arms crossed to his masculine chest and was just staring at me. I strangely asked, "What are you doing here?"
He didn’t answer my question instead he asked me back, “Why are you smoking knowing that you're pregnant?" My heart fluttered and immediately looked around and saw that no one was there, so I breathed a sigh of relief. And said wisely, "You should pay more attention in the future."
I kept on turning my head around to make sure that no one is there beside Haden.
His voice reduced to coarse graveling his throat and seems worried about me.
But thinking that maybe he was only worried about the baby in my belly, which was his child after all. I then immediately quench the cigarette butt and said, "Okay, I know."
His fingers brushed against my ear.
"Why are you always avoiding me?" He pulled me over with a grim face.
I looked to him up and down, he was just dressed casually today. Just having a short sleeved business style shirt, casual pants and casual shoes.
As I gave a look to his looks he then added to say, "Don't avoid me next time."
He then turns around and left.
Meanwhile, Sara also went to my place and we made some conversations. I fell into a deep thought, and my mind was snapped out when she said.
"You know what Elena, my mother assumed the reason why my brother went home here is to see Elizebeth. They will be meeting later. This time, I’m quite sure that marriage will be set already when he sees her. "
I was drinking water by then when the water from my mouth suddenly gushed out because of what she just said.
"What's the matter with you, are you ok? " Sara patted me on the back
"Nothing, I just choked.”
After a while Sara's phone rang, it was Aunt Serina,
"Elizebeth is already here, you young people, come here and greet her."
Sara dragged me into the living room.
Elizebeth was talking and laughing with Aunt Serina happily. She handed her a gift and said, "Aunty, this is a small gift I bought from Australia, I hope you like it."
Sara’s mouth widened to amusement. Then Aunt Serina called her, "Sara, come and meet Elizebeth."
Sara immediately proceeded and greet Elizebeth, "Wow, sister Elizebeth, I heard that you started a new drama. You are so smart and excellent, you will surely have a great future." As she delightedly uttered.
While they were talking, I saw a few more people come through the door. It was Lee and his fiancée.
Lee came in and laughed, "I heard we were having guests, so I came over to join in the fun." Lee's eyes fell on me with a complicated look. His fiancée Bery wrapped her arms around Lee.
Then, with a steady step, my heart skipped a beat, and now there was Haden.
