Haden saw Elizebeth, and his face fell as if he doesn’t want to her. In his surprised he instantly asked her, "What are you doing here?"
Knowingly, Elizebeth is a movie star that was usually surrounded and idolized by many people. She smiled back at Haden and politely answered, "Aren’t you happy to see me? I just came back from filming in Australia and decided to pass by here to bring some little gifts for auntie."
Haden glanced to the necklace that Elizebeth gave his mother. It wasn’t just a simple gift, this was the Ocean mermaid that worth 50 million dollars. Elizebeth really spent a lot of money for this.
And then Lee intruded and said, "Elizebeth has such good eyesight, mom, we can say that our family will soon have a special event."
I don’t know why I suddenly felt a tinge of sadness upon hearing these words. Maybe the family just really likes Elizebeth to be Haden’s partner for life.
But then, Haden seemed not to be impressed. He brings out his check book and wrote into it then immediately pressed it into Elizebeth's hand and said,
"That’s my payment for what you have expensed. It's getting late, you can now go home.”
Elizebeth was too embarrassed to say a word.
Haden turned his glanced to aunt Serina and said,
"Mama, I happen to have something to tell you.”
The place was then completely surrounded by silence and all of the eyes turned to Haden. Everyone is curios of what he is going to announce. But for me, my heart became extremely nervous of what I have heard. From that very moment, I just wish I could disappear and left the place.
Haden lifted his eyebrows and in a low-tone of voice he uttered,
"Mama, I am going to be married."
Aunt Serina's eyes widened in astonishment, can’t believe of what she just heard. She got startled for a while but later asked him in stuttering manner,
"Yo-you already had a girlfriend? Since when, then ho-how come you never talked about her before?" The whole room was glowed with surprise and fear.
My heart beats even faster, a chill ran down my spine and I didn't dare lift my head. I slowly closed my eyes, wishing that he was not going to say it directly. But apparently, I am really in deep despair and just continue listening to what he’s going to say.
"It hasn't been very long; we're still knowing each other. But she doesn't want me to mention it."
I took a deep breath and exhaled in sigh of relief.
The room remained silent; apparently this news shocked everyone in the room. But it was an expectation indeed, knowing that Haden wasn’t really updating them regarding his current status and hasn’t even introduced one to them, because he was not used to. So I would definitely say that this would really bring surprised to everyone’s face that was there.
Aunt Serina awkwardly pulled up the corners of her mouth,
"Well love takes time anyway and girls are always shy to be introduced early to their guy’s family. But after a while you can bring her home and let us know her. "
Haden nodded and agreed, "Good. "
Then suddenly, a voice breaks the silence of the room and snapped everyone out of their thoughts.
"I didn't expect that there’s going to be a lot of good events in your family." Elizebeth stood up, glanced at me giving a smiling face tiger, with our eyes encountering each other for a moment. My heart suddenly leapt. And nervously felt strange asking myself if this lady has any idea of my condition.
And Sara to her curiosity, asked, "What other good event?"
She smiled at Sara but didn’t answer her directly. She then walks towards my place while staring at me and began to ask, "Elena, you're pregnant too, right?"
I really didn’t expect of what just happened. I was completely in deep state of shock to the words I just heard. Seeing that everyone gazes their eyes towards me makes my whole-body freeze for a moment. My hands were completely trembling and I was sweating to nervousness. With a confusedly thought in my mind, how could Elizebeth know about my pregnancy?
Sara and Aunt Serina were half stunned, I knew I was screwed and can’t escape to this anymore.
"Elena's pregnant?" , everyone put on an incredulous expression.
Haden suddenly turned his attention to Elizebeth. He stared her with one eagle eye and in inquisitively manner, "How did you know Elena was pregnant?” I can’t believe he uttered these words to her with a threatening tone of voice. But for me, I just wanted to know an answer.
Elizebeth didn’t show any fear towards him, instead she answered him with a poker face look, "I went to the Citi group one day and was looking for you to discuss some important matters, but unfortunately your assistant personnel told me that you weren't there. And suddenly on the same day, I had an upset stomach and couldn’t bear the pain. So I decided to immediately go in the hospital for consultation. " Elizebeth stammered these words thoughtfully and everyone looked curiously at Haden and then to my tummy.
Elizebeth obviously had something to say more but she just deliberately kept her silence for a while and that made everyone seemed more curious. But regardless of which, I don’t know what is going on to her mind concluding if she wanted to make a show and embarrass me in front of these people.
And then Aunt Serina moved her gaze to me and intrusively asked, "Elena, are you really pregnant? "
I knew I couldn't hide it anymore. Knowing someone had already caught me on action. I decided not to deny it to her as I nodded “Yes” using my head.
Aunt Serina unintentionally put her hands to her head with creased eyebrows, I saw her disappointment. And with such gestures, she again asked, "Then why didn't you tell me? Did you have a boyfriend? When did it happen? Who's the boy? "
I buried my head down and can no longer control my tears. Drop by drop, it started to fall down into my hands and not quite knowing how I will defend myself. But later on, I still choose to remain silent and just let them express their thoughts.
But then Elizebeth gloated, "Tell us Elena, is it an extramarital affair?"
"Don't worry; we'll take care of it." Beverly added.
Lee thrust out his elbow and glared at Beverly angrily.
Beverly didn’t like what Lee had just did to her so she rolled her eyes back on him and muttered in a mocking tone, "Who knows who the mongrel father is!"
"Keep your mouth shut!" Lee angrily huffed.
Elizebeth was really deliberately embarrassing me in front of everyone. But I didn’t plan of scolding her. Hence, I just ducked my head, not knowing what to do.
Elizebeth really didn’t stop and strenuously asked me to speak, "Elena, tell us who the baby's father is."
"The baby, the baby." I stammered. Knowing I would not hide it anymore. As I was about to continue, a voice suddenly obtrudes, "The baby is mine." Haden firmly announced and gaze each and every one with a sharp look.
And when he said that, everyone was so shocked that even Aunt Serina covered her mouth and looked at him with a look of disbelief.
Sara and Elizebeth looked as if a cold wind had suddenly swept over them, and they were completely frozen.
"Brother, you've got to be kidding, how is this possible with you and Elena?" asked Sara.
Haden without further hesitations said to Sara, "Didn't I just tell you that I have a friend that I'm seeing, that's her. Elena"
Aunt Serina was immediately hit with a wave of anger, she lunged at Haden and screamed, "You annoying child ... You and Elena ..."
Aunt Serina coughed, unable to contain her rage she then suddenly fell into the sofa. Everyone immediately went towards her and give her water to drink. I felt so guilty and everyone was staring at me with scolding eyes.
Aunt Serina held her temple for a while, "Why didn't you tell us, this is such a big deal. If weren’t told by Elizebeth, would you hide it? “Aunt Serina turned around and asked me as everyone was astonished.
In few moments, aunt Serina gained her strength and was totally calmed down. She waved me to her side and held my hand, “Do you really like Haden, Elena? Please tell mama.”
I turned my gaze to her with tears in my eyes flowing down to my face; I nodded my head to her.
Serina continued, "Since you're pregnant with his child, I think you two should get married as soon as possible."
And there was now a strange vibe in the room.
Then Sara blurted out happily and patted me on the shoulder, "Oh, I am now going to be an auntie. I'm not ready yet Elena, you've given us such a big surprise."
And for Elizebeth's, her face was blue with anger. Obviously, it’s really her purpose to embarrass me in front of them, and she hadn't dreamed that the baby was actually Haden's.
