Graduation
" I knew someone is really behind him" Vivian said
" How come he said it was him" Jackson replied
" The bad guy must really know you very well. He doesn't want his identity revealed" Sophia said " let's wait a bit, the truth would come running to us".
The following day in school just after Mr. Nduka's confession, students who hates him began gossiping about him.
" I heard he went against the almighty Jackson"
" Which Jackson ?"
" The one his father owns an Oil company,the only boy amidst the Three feathers of a bird"
" Oh that cute guy, what exactly did he do?"
" Girl, you seem to be the only one in the entire school that doesn't know about this, like seriously, don't ever ask this question outside"
" Just tell me"
" He forced our prince charming into sports that he's allergic to"
" Awwn. My baby mist have gone through alot"
" Your baby ? He doesn't even know someone like you exists"
" I know right. I really don't know what to do to get close to him"
" I'm leaving" the student stood up to leave with her books.
" Leaving to where?"
" The library of course, I heard the Three feathers of a bird are always there during free period like now"
" Wait for me"
The school made an official announcement to dismiss Mr. Nduka from the school for biased behavior towards his students, irresponsibility and indiscipline. There were more gossips as some students began to take sides with Mr. Nduka. Some said the misfortune happened to him because he was a poor man.
" If Jackson's father wasn't rich do you think the school would have taken an action against him"
" But he was wrong on his part" Praise said.
" Imagine the type of embarrassment he was given just because of one student" Mike said.
" Mike, you feel sorry for him because we're not in America where students like us know their full rights, he actually got what he deserves.
" For me, I think they took it seriously because Jackson is the heir to his father's company" Belly said
" Says who ? Jackson has an older brother"
" He does?"
"Of course"
" Don't you know these days, the heir of a company doesn't go to the oldest but the smartest. I heard Jackson is really smart when it comes to business that's why he moved from science class to commercial class last term".
Many and more gossips keeps climbing the walls of the school until it finally left the school.
The GCE results were released in the midst of all the chaos. Jackson was nervous as well as Sophia and Vivian. When they went to get the GCE results checking cards, they were almost shaking physically. After getting the cards, they headed to the secret lodge to check them together.
" This is so scary" Vivian said
" I'm literally shaking" Sophia replied.
" How can you be this nervous with us, you are bravest among the three of us" Jackson told Sophia.
" Nigerian examination results will humble you" she said and they laughed.
" Who will check the results ?"Vivian asked.
" Sophia" Jackson suggested
" No no let's play Rock, paper, scissors"
After the first round, Jackson won while Vivian and Sophia were left to battle against each other. After the second round, Sophia lost to Vivian.
" You could have done it when we asked nicely" Jackson said.
Sophia proceeded with checking the results. She downloaded the results from the official website to the computer. She told them to check it out.
" I got all A's, Vivian got eight A's and a B while Jack got seven A's and Two B's, that's it for your almighty GCE results"
" I can't believe it"
Vivian rushed towards the computer to see for herself. She screamed on seeing it. Jackson couldn't stop jumping on the bed. They kept shouting in excitement.
" OMG"
" Is this real? When my dad told me about this exam I was so scared that I had to read my brains out." Sophia said amidst the excitement. Soon enough she noticed that with all the heated atmosphere in the room and the excitement, Jackson's breathing was beginning to change as he slowly sat on the bed.
" Hold on, Vivian help me with cold water"
She sprayed cold water on him,she also massaged his forehead with towel and chilled water.
" How do you feel ?"
" Better, sorry I was too excited"
" Shouldn't we visit your doctor, it seems your body became more sensitive after the Inter-house sports incident" Vivian suggested.
" Okay ma I will"
When Jackson got home and gave his father his result,his dad was smiling sheepishly at it. He told Jackson that he would have to graduate with his seniors since GCE can stand in place of WASSCE and other External Examinations.
" But dad I can't leave my friends behind"
" Of course not, since you grew up with them, I guess the bond is very strong. I will make arrangements for your graduation next week"
" Next week ?" Jackson asked looking shocked.
" Sophia told me the other day that you rarely check the school bulletin or website for information. They would be graduating next week but I will make sure to add you people to the list okay"
" Daddy, won't that be stressful for you?"
" Don't worry , if your mum was alive she would have advised me to do this"
" Okay then"
The next day in school during break, Jackson went to Vivian's classroom to talk to them about his discussion with his dad the previous night.
" Vivi how did you parents react"
" My dad just got back yesterday and was really tired but I told my mum first before she encouraged me to tell him. They were really happy for me . My dad even told me to drop out of school and apply for UTME( Unified Territary Matriculation Examination)".
" What's about you Sophia" Jackson asked
" My parents asked if I want to continue with Secondary school but I told them I will like to think about it"
" Well, my dad said..."
" Who's that ?" Sophia asked pointing at a lady who with their homeroom teacher is walking towards their class.
" My dad wants us to graduate with the seniors" Joshua said
" What !" Sophia and Vivian chorused in shock.
" Wait what did you just say" Vivian asked
" Jackson James, oh you are here. I guessed so since you are not in your classroom" the teacher called out as soon as she stepped into the class.
" Yes ma"
" You follow me and you too Vivian and Sophia " the teacher said.
" Yes ma"
" Hope we did not commit any offence ?" Vivian asked
" Have you ever committed any offence since got into this school" Sophia replied
On getting to the principal's office, the three got registered under the guidance of the lady who's name is Cynthia and the homeroom teacher.
" May I ask who you may be ?" Jackson asked Cynthia.
She smiled and looked at him.
" You are just one smart kid "
" That doesn't answer my question ?"
" Hey Jackson don't be rude " Sophia interfered. " Sorry ma'am he's just being cautious"
" I understand, well how do I say this. I'm Cynthia by name , a brand owner and Model"
" And ...?"
Cynthia recalled what Mr. James told her before she went to Jackson's school.
" Jackson is the hard shell, he's really cautious of the women that comes around me and would ask alot of questions. Just be nice and patient once he approves then we can get married"
She then looked at him for awhile and said;
" I'm your dad's friend"
" Come out clean ma " Jackson said.
" Actually your dad's girlfriend"
" Huh ?" Vivian said. Without uttering a word Jackson left.
Few days later, the school held their graduation ceremony. Vivian, Sophia and Jackson went to grab a drink on the night of their graduation. Jackson was tipsy but Vivian and Sophia weren't because they were being careful. They were excited to have finished their secondary school ahead of time. Just when Jackson was about to cross the road a truck tried to run over him but Vivian was fast enough to use her super power. Although they were so many eyes watching, her priority at the moment was to save her best friend. The thunder she drew down tore the truck in two as Jackson ran out of the road. Everyone was shocked and stood in awe of Vivian.
