摘要
An international high school teenager named Shouichi Desterling often idled away his time, letting his thoughts run rampant with a wild imagination. However, those intrusive thoughts were well-contained within his mind.
Following the recent passing of his father, Shouichi was transferred back to his hometown, Kurohashi, to live with his long-separated mother — the only family he had left. Kurohashi is a secluded small town, surrounded by mountains on all sides. Despite its seemingly ordinary appearance and a minuscule population of just 5,000, the village harbours an oddity: the only way in or out is via a gloomy steel bridge.
Not long after his arrival, Shouichi quickly bonded with his classmates, experiencing the semblance of a normal high school life and even finding love. Yet, amid this ordinary existence, he began seeing and feeling inexplicable “things.” Were these strange occurrences mere tricks of his mind, or was there something truly sinister lurking in the shadows?
As events unfolded, Shouichi found himself increasingly unable to suppress his mounting insanity and the dark urges creeping into his thoughts.
Each day, the air around him grew denser and heavier, as though the very atmosphere bore the weight of an unseen menace.

寫檢討This story is incredibly well-written, drawing readers into the eerie and mysterious town of Kurohashi. The protagonist, Shouichi, struggles with his intrusive thoughts, and as the plot unfolds, the tension builds masterfully. The suspense keeps you on edge, making it hard to put down. A gripping and immersive read! Great job, author!
Spooky, funny, and super fun read (Need to read at least 2 chapters to really get things going, each chapter is quite long tho, lmao, I binged 4 chapters in one go!) The writer ain't just some broke, he, the man with a plan for real, I stumbled on his light novel by mistake, but overall i enjoyed the set-up that weirdass town, people, tone, the char designs, foreshadowing? the story which center around Rom-Com at first, but tinged with Horror or whatever. (We wouldn't know yet.) A lot of potential for this novel, also, love your complimentary images. Feels like reading a light novel. Can't complete without some photos then and there. Keep up the good work, Joe-ing! Give me some sweet tragedy fufufu!
Wow! That's quite a compelling and fun story, featuring romantic comedy with a hint of horror! Although the story focused on the first part, it didn't lack the horror department, some scene is real disturbing! The trio (Shinji-my favourite!, Shouichi, and Ayane) are absolutely interesting with multi-layer depths, and likeable characters. Also, I can't believe what happened to Misaki too. What a shocker! The town, Kurohashi, is definitely going to be Silence Hill or some!? Why is everyone acting so weird? Surely the author has more in store for us. Imagine reading 'Oshi No Ko' + (Zombie or maybe not?) on steroids! Hahaha!
Oh, my👀surely not something to read at night, (get your crucifix people) I like the spacing between horror and romcom, 🙃it doesn't spook that much
I’m completely hooked on this novel! It’s an incredible mix of horror, slice of life, romance, and so much more. Honestly, it’s sensational. The protagonist, Shouichi, has such a unique and quirky personality—it’s hard not to love him, haha. The author does an amazing job of pulling you into the story with every single paragraph.
I really enjoyed 'The Subconscious of The Damn Mountain'! The story’s unique, with great twists and vivid scenes. Totally recommend!
I got hooked on his novel; it's a mix of horror, slice of life, romance, and everything in between. It's just sensational; the protagonist, Shouichi, has a very peculiar personality, hahaha. The author manages to deliver the essence of immersion in every paragraph. I highly recommend reading it! try it out!
I love the way the story is described, it is so tense and immersive. The way the people talk the dialogue and everything is amazingly written. The authors use of detail is great, and some of the dialogue is sus ;) Overall, a very cool story, though the terms are modern and im old, so things like bagging someone look like this to me:
I actually read a short one and read a lot in a short amount of time. I don't know how everyone feels about it, but I liked it so I came here to write.Good, not bad.. give it a try ☺️
The author does a great job of bringing the reader right into the world of eerie elements taking place throughout Shouichi's return to Kurohashi. The writing is smooth and fluid, and it's overall incredible. No overly describing to bore out the readers, and just enough to satisfy your imagery. Well done author!
Intriguing book. I love that it's taking on a More realistic and relatable note while then adding things of the supernatural. I love the narrative, the characterization is peak and the descriptions of the city, the place they live and family life. I will definitely continue reading this.
The story is intriguing. I needed at least a few chapter to read get things going. I love how Shouichi is struggling with his intrusive thoughts. Well-written. The author cooked and served without leaving crumbs
As an author, I’m impressed by this novel. The way you’ve created a small, isolated town with its haunting steel bridge and eerie atmosphere is brilliantly unsettling. It immediately draws the reader in, establishing a sense of foreboding that builds throughout the story. Shouichi is a well-crafted protagonist, and his internal struggle with grief and the slow unraveling of his sanity feels incredibly real. The tension between his everyday life and the strange occurrences he faces keeps the reader on edge, wondering whether he’s losing his mind or confronting something far darker. I also appreciate the way you’ve woven in the romantic subplot, which provides a brief moment of light before the growing sense of dread takes over — it adds a nice emotional layer to Shouichi’s journey. Overall, this novel is a captivating psychological horror that masterfully balances character development with suspense. It’s a compelling read that keeps you guessing, and I can’t wait to see how it all unfolds. Excellent work.

The Damn Mountain is a Rom/Com light novel with an implication on Horror, Mystery, and subtly 'Tragedy'. The premise of the first instalment is a boy, living his seemingly ordinary life in a secluded town but soon he encounters strange phenomena with everything residing within, ex. a strange stare from his long-departed mother, a weird girl at the bookstore, drunk people without a single alcohol store, a psychotic injure man that can walk despite his broken leg, etc. The longer he stays, the worse it becomes! Also, I'm the author, Joe-ing! Thank you for reading! Fufu~!
