Chapter 50: Obito's Arrival, Plan Fails!
"Roar!"
The moment Three-Tails Isobu entered full Tailed Beast Mode, its power was completely unleashed, no longer constrained by Yagura's small body.
Once free, Isobu roared in fury. It had spent too long under mind control, its will suppressed, reduced to little more than a puppet. This betrayal filled the beast with rage.
After all, it had painstakingly formed a bond of trust with Yagura, even lending its chakra willingly. Yet humans had deceived it once again. The anger boiled within Isobu, fueling its desire for revenge.
It rampaged wildly, determined to destroy everything in its sight. Watching this massive beast wreak havoc, Genshiro felt both sorrow and bitterness. He knew that he'd likely have to sacrifice his life here…
Meanwhile, Uchiha Yi, as Zetsu had predicted, had indeed set his sights on Kakashi's Kamui Sharingan.
Originally, Yi had intended to be an observer, a spectator to the chaos within the Mist Village, gathering strength quietly on the sidelines. But as he watched the events unfold, a new thought struck him.
Why was he so set on following the plot? Why not use his knowledge of future events to eliminate threats early on? True, doing so might lead to unforeseen consequences, but right now, there was a golden opportunity.
Obito was preoccupied with controlling Yagura in the midst of this chaos, his hands tied with no quick end in sight. Meanwhile, Kakashi, the possessor of Obito's other Sharingan eye, was locked up and heavily restrained. With his captors spread thin, Kakashi was practically a lamb to the slaughter.
Why not seize this moment to take Kakashi's Kamui eye for himself and use it against Obito? With one eye gone, Obito's power would be cut in half, rendering him far less of a threat.
The thought was too tempting to ignore, and Yi quickly sprang into action. Although he couldn't use his Fire Path to teleport directly to Kakashi due to the absence of nearby flames, he found a workaround. Locating a fire source nearby, he used it to transport himself closer.
Yi swiftly moved through the empty corridors of the Mist's prison, brushing past any obstacles until he stood before Kakashi.
Without a word, he reached out, intent on taking Kakashi's Sharingan. But just as his hand approached the eye, a strange ripple appeared in the air.
"Already here?"
Yi was genuinely surprised by Obito's sudden arrival. He had acted quickly, cutting out any unnecessary steps to save time, yet somehow, he was still too slow.
With no time to remove Kakashi's eye, Yi grabbed Kakashi by the collar. Flames erupted around them both as Yi used his Fire Path once more to teleport them away.
For an ordinary person, traveling through Yi's fire-based space technique would be deadly; the longer the exposure, the more fatal the effects. Knowing this, Yi quickly selected a new fire source and emerged in an unfamiliar area, carrying Kakashi with him.
In that brief moment of teleportation, Kakashi's entire body had been scorched black, leaving him looking like a soot-covered miner. His once-silver hair had burned off entirely, leaving him bald—a far cry from his usual appearance.
"Dammit!" Kakashi cursed, regaining enough awareness to feel the pain and confusion of being burned so badly.
"Enough nonsense," Yi said, ignoring Kakashi's outburst. "I'm just here to reclaim what's mine."
"What?" Kakashi's eyes widened in shock. "Are you… Obito?"
This possibility hit Kakashi like a thunderbolt. He had come all the way to the Land of Water in search of his old friend but had found nothing but trouble. He had been imprisoned repeatedly and even suffered through this new indignity, his latest "welcome package" from the Mist. Now, the one person he'd been searching for had appeared before him, demanding the very eye he'd gifted to Kakashi.
Conflicting emotions surged within Kakashi. He felt relief, sadness, and a pang of regret, unable to tell which emotion was stronger. Perhaps it was for the best, he thought; after all, this eye had always belonged to Obito.
Yi's hand was nearly on the eye, ready to reclaim it. But just as he touched it, a sudden surge of powerful chakra burst forth.
In an instant, an invisible force twisted Yi's entire arm, shattering it.
Yi stared in shock, unable to comprehend how a chakra-sealed Kakashi could activate his Mangekyo Sharingan to the point of triggering Kamui.
"Ah-Huo, you wretched fool, stop right there!" a voice roared. Moments later, Obito himself arrived, looking worn and breathless.
A surge of emotion had triggered Obito's Sharingan, creating a resonance with Kakashi's eye. By instinct, Obito had channeled his chakra through their connection, temporarily awakening Kakashi's Mangekyo Sharingan.
The unintended activation of Kamui had thwarted Yi's plan, shattering his arm and giving Obito the time he needed to catch up.
