Meanwhile, a couple of miles away, a figure could be seen appearing and vanishing constantly as he got further and further away from the Konoha Camp.
It was Kazuo who used his whole chakra reserves to arrive at the location as fast as he could.
The scenery around him constantly changed, and with him not having the visual prowess of someone like Shisui Uchiha, he couldn't even survey if an enemy was around him at all.
However, unlike the Uchiha genius, Kazuo had no need to worry about an enemy.
If he died, then he could just go back in time.
Finally, after around thirty minutes of constantly using shunshin until his reserves were about to be completely drained, Kazuo arrived at the edge of the clearing where the full-blown battle between the two military villages would take place.
Taking out a soldier pill from his ninja bag, Kazuo quickly threw it into his mouth and waited.
Five minutes later, his chakra had already reached comfortable levels once more.
Making a single-hand sign, Kazuo thought.
'Earth Style, Hiding like a mole jutsu.'
With that thought, the earth below his feet quickly turned damp and soon enough became soft enough to where it started swallowing his body, this entire process happened almost in an instant, and merely two seconds later, Kazuo had disappeared from the surface.
Using his chakra, Kazuo maintained a constant form so that the jutsu could be performed even when he removed the hand sign.
At that moment, Kazuo headed to the middle of the clearing, he had already memorized the entire place during the five minutes that he had waited for his soldier pill and now he knew the exact number of steps and the distance he needed to cover to arrive at the places where he would put the explosion tags.
'Five, four, three, two, one. Here' Kazuo thought as he stopped in place and using a miniscule amount of chakra that he split off from the majority, he summoned the explosion tags from his scroll.
To do this he had first made a small clearing underground which proved easy with how soft the earth around him was while doing the jutsu.
Once the tags appeared in front of him, Kazuo stopped using the jutsu immediately.
The earth around him hardened quickly and returned to its usual endurance levels.
'Thankfully I don't combine with the earth whilst using the jutsu and merely form tunnels that I pass through otherwise canceling the jutsu whilst still underground would cause me to die instantly.' Kazuo thought and rushed to quickly place the explosion tags in the small round hole he had created in front of him.
Once one hundred Tags were placed, Kazuo took out a sheet of paper that he had with him and during his way here had elongated until it became similar to a string.
This was the way he had devised to activate all of the seals whilst holding a comfortable distance from them.
Since he had gotten the paper shuriken jutsu, Kazuo had thought of ways to gain the paper kekke genkai however he had failed miserably.
His efforts however weren't completely futile, he had at least learned how to carry his chakra through paper even if the paper was completely normal and not made of some special tree or anything of the sort.
Clasping his hands Kazuo used the earth release jutsu once more and headed away from the explosion tags, his next destination was twelve seconds away to the right. The paper string was being engulfed by the earth as he went further away and the tunnel he had created collapsed from the soft malleable earth.
He repeated this process four more times before turning around and heading to the location he had been at when he first arrived at the clearing.
During this time he had to stop on multiple occasions to create more paper string which he tied to the one connected to the explosion tags and then continued moving under the ground.
The entire process took one hour and by the end of it Kazuo was left with almost no chakra and completely exhausted, his entire body drenched in sweat, both from being underground as well as from the stress of the entire situation.
Back at the spot where he had first gone underground, the ground opened out and Kazuo jumped out.
Taking deep breaths as he held his knees, his unfocused eyes gaining clarity little by little.
'I almost died of suffocation from not having enough oxygen' Kazuo thought to himself before walking behind a tree and sitting down.
All that was left now was to wait for seven hours in enemy territory and then head back underground to finish off the job for tomorrow.
Seconds turned into minutes and minutes turned into hours as Kazuo remained seated on the ground, his mind slowly starting to play tricks on him from the deep exhaustion and stress it was going through.
At the slightest movement or sound made by the wildlife, Kazuo entered an extremely guarded state, anticipating the worst however finding out that it was just a rabbit or a deer.
*Sigh*
'Me and my big fucking mouth, I can do it, commander.' Kazuo thought however he didn't regret his decision one bit.
This plan could earn him a lot in the village, it was something he was willing to do so that he could get a big enough return from the leaf.
'Maybe an A-rank or B-rank jutsu?' Kazuo thought as he started going through all the Jutsu he could ask for before landing on one.
'The Shadow clone, with my current chakra I would only be capable of making one but even that is more than enough, I could use it in so many strategies it's insane.' Kazuo thought as he watched the sun rise above the horizon.
The time was near, now he had to get back underground and wait patiently for the enemy to arrive.
'All right let's get this started' Kazuo thought as a shallow smile appeared on his expression.
