Alex and Mira exchanged a tense glance, both of them on edge.

The void outside the airlock was supposed to be empty — just like the lifeless remnants of the Red Demon fleet.

And yet, something was there, even if their perception said otherwise.

Alex's grip on Virtue's Edge tightened, with the edges shimmering faintly with his aura around it.

"You still not picking anything up on the scans?"

Mira shook her head, with her own blade materialising out of thin air in her hand.

"Nothing… Whatever it is, it's not registering in any way we can detect!"

The knocks came again, slower this time,
