章節 11: Mission Accomplished

Children who can receive initial Pokémon from the professor are descendants of prominent trainers within the League's lineage.

They are either of high status themselves or their parents have made significant contributions to the League.

These two factors alone exclude most people in the world from this privilege.

In other words, if you don't meet either of these conditions, even if you're wealthy, you won't be able to obtain an initial Pokémon from the professor.

The initial Pokémon from the professor are usually the League's specially bred "Trio Starter" and their aptitude is typically exceptional.

Although members of the Trio Starter can occasionally be found in the wild, their aptitude can't compare to the carefully cultivated ones from the League.

The most a regular person can hope for is to strive and become a prominent League trainer, providing their descendants the chance to receive an initial Pokémon from the professor.

However, Yuga belongs to the category of ordinary people who wouldn't have the opportunity to receive an initial Pokémon from the professor.

Fortunately for Yuga, he's luckier than most ordinary people. His parents managed to acquire a Flabébé for him that's no less capable than the Trio Starter, even though its aptitude surely falls short. Yet, after consuming an aptitude evolution pill, the difference isn't stark.

As for the two children who came to the shop, they are the epitome of ordinary families – the very definition of it. They lack the chance to obtain an initial Pokémon from the professor, and their parents lack the means to provide them with a Pokémon like Flabébé.

Hence, they had to resort to a small shop like Yoyo Day Care to purchase a regular Pokémon to serve as their starting companion.

Their future progress depends entirely on their own efforts.

Since both children aspire to become trainers, Yuga recommended Pokémon eggs with yellow aptitude for them.

Aside from the Lotad sold to Grandma Lanca, there remained a Taillow, a Skitty, a Shroomish, and another Lotad.

Ultimately, the boy chose Shroomish, and the girl chose Taillow.

Initially, they had wanted the Lotad, but due to its higher price compared to Shroomish and Swellow, they sensibly opted out.

After these two children left, a young girl arrived the next day. She was quite young, likely just reaching the age to embark on her journey.

She expressed her desire to become a coordinator, which led her to this place to purchase a Pokémon suitable for participating in Grand Contests.

As the birthplace of coordinators, Verdanturf Town had a significantly higher number of coordinators compared to other regions. Furthermore, it was one of the locations where Grand Contests were held.

Yuga recommended yellow-aptitude Skitty to her.

Skitty was adorable and lively, and as a Normal-type Pokémon, it could learn a variety of moves, making it a great fit for Grand Contests.

While Grand Contests didn't judge solely based on a Pokémon's appearance, having an attractive Pokémon did carry an advantage.

With three successful transactions in one day, Yuga's mood improved considerably, leading him to enjoy an extra bowl of dinner.

However, after dinner, it was once again time for Flabébé's training session, a time Flabébé dreaded.

The following day, when Yuga went to wake Flabébé up, he found it sprawled out in its nest, unresponsive no matter how much he nudged it.

In the end, Yuga had to pick Flabébé up and carry it out of the nest.

Once it was awake, Flabébé reluctantly resumed its grueling training session.

Seeing Flabébé in such agony pained Yuga, but he couldn't afford to go easy on it.

Consistency was crucial in training, and giving up midway due to discomfort would render earlier efforts futile.

Once this phase passed, and Flabébé adjusted to the training routine, its distress would lessen.

For today's training, the focus wasn't on physical stamina but on skill training.

However, a warm-up was still necessary.

After making Flabébé fly around the yard with a stone in tow, Yuga moved on to skill training.

Flabébé had a premonition that it would be confined to its bed, motionless, for the next few days aside from training.

Currently, Flabébé needed to improve proficiency in two skills: Vine Whip and Fairy Wind.

These two skills, one Grass-type and the other Fairy-type, may not have significant power as basic skills, but they are vital for a Pokémon's future growth.

They serve as precursors to many powerful moves and aid in early familiarization with the Pokémon's elemental energy, crucial for mastering energy control.

Yuga crafted a wooden target and placed it in the yard for Flabébé to practice Vine Whip and Fairy Wind on, shattering the target with each attack.

Flabébé's Vine Whip lacked force, possessing no offensive power, while Fairy Wind dispersed without focus, akin to a scattered breeze lacking cohesion.

Skill training is a gradual process. Despite a morning of effort, Flabébé hadn't made significant progress, leaving it breathless rather than triumphant.

After breakfast, Yuga resumed his routine of opening the shop.

However, with Flabébé too exhausted to move, the shop remained quieter than usual for the next couple of days, a situation Yuga struggled to adapt to.

Yuga found himself increasingly idle during this period.

Just as Yuga was drifting into his usual state of daydreaming, a group of voices suddenly emerged from outside.

"Is this the place?"

"Looks like it."

"The sign says 'Yoyo Day Care.'"

"Then we're in the right place."

...

Walking to the door, Yuga was startled to see a group of grandmothers chattering away on the porch.

"May we ask if you're the owner, Yuga?"

One of the grandmothers brightened upon seeing Yuga.

"Yes, that's me. What can I do for you?"

"That's wonderful, then we've found the right place. We were recommended by Lanca and would like to purchase a Pokémon."

Yuga was overjoyed. He hadn't expected them to be potential customers instead of troublemakers.

Although Yuga hadn't taken Lanca's promise to introduce customers seriously, it turned out she had truly come through.

Quickly, Yuga invited all of them inside the shop.

The sale of Pokémon eggs went remarkably well. These grandmothers genuinely wished to purchase eggs, and Yuga provided diligent guidance, leaving them all satisfied.

All 14 eggs were sold without a single one remaining, and the mission assigned by the system was inadvertently completed.

Due to insufficient eggs, a few grandmothers requested that Yuga inform them when more were available.

After bidding farewell to the grandmothers, Yuga promptly summoned the system.

"1314520, come out. I've completed my mission. What about the rewards?"

[ Please wait a moment, Host. The system is currently calculating the mission rewards."

Calculation complete.
