Avalon couldn't contain his excitement, leaping up from his seat inside the booth.

Avalon had been worried when he saw how low Atticus was in the rankings initially. Unlike the others in the coliseum who had been watching only the top tankers, Avalon, Anastasia, and Freya had been following Atticus the whole time.
