章節 7: (Chapter 5) Forest and Training
{Shima no ryu}
'Ryuu could you pass me the garlic' Hisho asked as she was cutting up some onions for tonight's dinner
'yes ka-san' replied Ryuu as he went to one of the cabinets to retrieve the mentioned food item
*slice*
As soon as Hisho turned back to cutting up the onions she realised she accidentally had cut herself, she winced slightly as she held her bleeding hand
As soon as Ryuu saw this he quickly rushed to his mother's side and grabbed a towel on his way
'here wrap this around your hand' he said as he pressed the towel on his mothers bleeding hand.
'thank you ryu-chan' she thanked him before he ran off quickly and brought back with him a sake bottle and a dry towel
He soon poured some of the alcohol onto the towel before exchanging it with the one his mother was holding
Hisho winced slightly before ruffling Ryu's head 'Oh my little Ryu's growing up too fast, your already taking care of me' she said while tears ran down her face
'don't be sad ka-san' he hugged her before she told him 'No Ryu these are happy tears' She wiped her tears before saying
'you can go out and explore the forests I can handle making dinner by myself' he looked back at her and asked
'Are you sure ka-san, you're still hurt' he asked but a voice from behind him spoke up 'She will be fine ill handle the rest'
He looked back to see his Jiji standing at the doorway, he soon nodded and ran out of the front door of the house.

[Ryu's Pov]
"I should go and look for some herbs to help Ka-san heal faster" he thought before starting to run towards the forest
To normal people, Ryu looked like a blur, but to him, it was like taking a normal jog, he soon arrived in the middle of the forest and spotted a few herbs, he decided to take a closer look before something loud caused him to fall over and land on a bush.
It sounded like laughter coming from the side of the hill nearby, he decided to take a closer look so he sneakily walked over before looking towards the side of the hill where a medium-sized cave lay
His eyes widened as soon as he spotted the person that was laughing so loudly, It was a boy... But he was very large as he only looked around 12 to 14 years old, the boy stood at around 9 feet and had a body of a warrior
But what was most surprising was the horns protruding from the sides of his head.
The boy was in front of a campfire and was cooking what seemed to be a lion?!
Ryu was shocked, how could someone never the less a boy only 10 years older than him be able to kill and cook a lion
The boy suddenly shifted slightly, as he looked towards where Ryu was hiding,
'Oi! Who there?!' before he stood up and grabbed a spiked wooden bat from behind him.
Ryu just stood up before walking out wearing a sheepish grin on his face, he raised both his hands in a sign of peace
'could you please not hit me with that club of yours' Ryu asked, as the large boy just raised his eyebrow before sitting back down
'Who are you and why are you in my territory he asked
"territory? As in his home?" ryu thought before he replied
'sorry I was just looking for some herbs for my mother, she got hurt recently' he said before looking down with a sad gaze
'hmph, are you strong?' asked the large boy as he took a piece of meat off the cooked, he soon started eating
'well I'm good with a sword, so kind of yeah' As he said this the large boy gestured to him to sit next to him as he asked
'if your strong then I challenge you to a fight he declared' before Ryu shot that idea out 'I'm sorry but I'm in a bit of a hurry, do you know any places I can find some medical herbs?' he asked
'if you promise to fight me later then I can point you to some weird-looking leaves I found' he said.
Ryu looked at him before promising 'I promise I'll come back later and spar with you but for now do you know where I can find those herbs'
The boy just shrugged and pointed behind him 'On the other side of the hill you should find some over there' he said before he continued to munch on his food
Ryu bowed thankful for the boy helping him 'I promise I will find you later ' he said before he ran off
"he's fast" thought the boy before he just snorted and continued to eat his food.

{home}
Ryu soon arrived back at his home and ran inside, it was already becoming dark so he quickly walked into the kitchen where he saw his grandfather just finished making a back of dumplings
'oh ryu your just in time, also what is in that basket your holding?' he asked as he looked towards the closed picnic basket Ryu was holding with both hands.
'Oh I brought some herbs for Mother since she got hurt, I planned to grind them into a paste before applying it to her wound' he said as his big black eyes bore into his grandfather's own
Minamoto just smiled before he ruffled his grandson's hair, but internally he was gushing at how adorable his transcribed looked holding that basked
'I'll apply it to your mother later but for now, could you help me prepare the table?' he asked
Ryu just nodded before he took a few plates and started heading towards their living room.
{Later that night}
Ryu knocked on his mother's door before she told him to come in 'You can come in the doors unlocked' The door soon slowly opened as Ryu could be seen holding a mortar and pastel grinding what seemed to look like green paste
'oh what's that you have with you?' she asked Ryu as he soon placed the morter down.
'It's some herbs I found in the forest, it should help you feel better and hopefully not leave a scar on your hand' he said before he scooped up a bit of the paste on his hand and applied it on his mother's.
Hisho just ruffled his wild red hair before she said 'thank you ryu for taking care of this lazy mother of yours' she said
His eyebrows just furrowed before he said 'your not lazy ka-san, you're just hurt it's my job as your son to help you when you are hurt' As he finished saying that he wrapped a cloth around the ointment
As soon as he was finished he hugged his mother before kissing her on the forehead
She just smiled as he left the room "he's so cute it's just too much" she thought to herself and then sighed and snuggled into her futon before dozing off.

As soon as he left his mother's room he almost planted his face into his grandfather's leg as he was standing right behind him.
'good job ryu' he said as he ruffled his hair, Ryu just pouted as he got his hair ruffled.
'I have a surprise for you' he said before a ended his hand to Ryu.
Ryu held on to his Jiji's hand before he lead them outside of their home and a bit deeper into their compounds training ground.
They soon reached a field and he saw a huge boulder in the middle of the clearing, 'Now ryu what do you know of our family's lineage'
The question seemed to come out of the blue before he quickly replied 'I know that our family was known as Bureizu clan before most of our members died out' [Bureizu means blaze] he said, as he tried to think some more about their clan's history
'That's correct ryu, but why are we named Bureizu' he asked, as Ryu tried to contemplate the meaning
Minamoto just decided to show the young lad as he unsheathed his prized sword the kyōgoku Masamune one of the 21 great-grade swords
Ryu's eyes widened as he paid close attention to what his grandfather did next
Minamoto seemed to take a lung full of air before he vanished out of sight, the next moments became engraved into the young boy's mind.
His grandfather his blade set a blade rushed towards the large boulder before he struck.
A gash ran down the bolder and not only that it continued 50 meters behind it, the ground seemed to be scorched as if it had been struck down by Amaterasu himself.
Ryu was mesmerized by the sight not noticing his grandfather sheathing his sword before walking towards him
'This is what our family calls breathing techniques used to strengthen a person's body tenfold' his grandfather said before he put a hand to his shoulder.
'I have seen that you are mature enough to learn about and start practising these techniques, from tomorrow onwards I shall be training you to handle a real sword and strengthen your body' he said
He soon took out his pipe and lit some of his favourite tobacco 'But for now go on to bed, your training starts early in the morning' as he took a drag and puffed out a cloud
Ryu just nodded before he started walking back home, Minamoto just stood there for a few moments eying a tree before he started walking back himself
