章節 26: Chapter 26: The Gorgon Sisters

With his new, happily dubbed "God armor" on, Ares and his trusty steed Pontes, along with his ever loyal companion Praeco, are setting off from Olympus to create what Ares will call, "Arestia".

Yes, after many sleepless nights, not that he needs to sleep, Ares finally thought of a name for the island he will be claiming.

At first he was going to name it "Themyscira" however, he decided against it, mainly because he wanted Achilles to be King of Arestia.

Ares had no intention of making a civilization solely of warrior women.

They will be apart of Arestia for sure; but not as its ruling party.

Speaking of civilization, the people who will be apart of Ares' island will be known as Arestians.

"So, master. Do you know where this island is, or even what it's called?" Praeco asked in the most respectful tone she could muster.

"Hmm, again with the negativity." Ares chuckled, "But yes, I do know where the island of Sikelia is. After all, I wouldn't propose to annex it if I didn't know where I was going." Ares said as he and his companions passed the last gate leaving Olympus.

"Pontes, this will be your first time traveling such a long distance. If you need to rest just-"

Before he could finish, expelling a stream of flame from his nose, Pontes shook his head fiercely and neighed, cutting off Ares.

"I see." Ares said, somehow getting Pontes' actions. "We'll if you say so." He continued, stroking Pontes' fiery mane, not bothered or burned by its heat.

"Could you understand him master?" Praeco asked curiously.

"Not really." Ares honestly answered. "However, he understands me. And from his gestures, I can somewhat understand what he's trying to convey. Even if it's only a shake of his head." He finished.

Arriving at a cliffs edge, Ares looked out at the calm seas, and the setting sun on the horizon.

"This is it guys. I don't know what Arestia will bring. Perhaps the paranoid Zeus might think of it as treason, or perhaps maybe he will welcome it with open arms. If I'm honest though, I really don't care what Olympus has to say. I have plans for Arestia. For now it will be a kingdom. But one day, I hope to make it a world. Now Pontes, if you will." Ares said, gesturing to the horizon.

Acknowledging his master call, Pontes sprinted off the cliff, at first free falling, his fire nonexistent.

Then, feet before hitting the sea, his fire ignited once again, and Pontes immediately shot diagonally upward, his visage like lava spewing from the ocean's depths.

"HAHAHA!!"

Ares was thrilled, he hasn't felt this free since, ever. The wind in his face, the sound of the ocean rushing pass.

Ares felt freedom.

Stretching out his arms, Ares embraced the feeling he was currently reveling in, and not before long, the trio arrived at their destination.

Or so they thought.

"Wait. Pontes, did you go the right way?" Ares asked his steed, dismounting him, and looking him in the eyes.

Multiple neighs were heard by Pontes, and not having a clue, Ares looked to his trusty interpreter.

"He says your the one who showed him the map. It's not his fault it was the wrong island."

"What?! Did you really say that?" Ares asked.

A neigh was all he got in response.

The scenery they were surrounded by was not the lush forest, and giant caves they were supposed to see on Sikelia.

Instead, they arrived in a marshland with a temple in the distance peeking over dead trees, and broken half submerged human statues littered about.

"This can't be what I think it is." Ares muttered aloud.

"If you mean the Gorgon sisters, then your answer is correct master."

Ares was silent.

Praeco was about to ask her master what was wrong, but then he spoke.

"You think they're here?" Ares asked his companion excitedly. "Maybe they are. Maybe they aren't." He continued, shrugging his shoulders smirking. "But, I might have one way to find out."

Taking a deep breath, Ares let out a battle cry worthy of his status, a battle cry of ten thousand warriors.

Like Zeus with his lighting, this is also a power of Ares' divinity. And although he hasn't used it at all previously, calling upon it is like breathing; it's natural.

"AGHHHH!!"

Ares' battle cry reverberated throughout the entire marshlands.

Water churned, and birds flew from their perch in the violently swaying trees.

While admiring his first attempt at using his battle cry, Ares excitedly waited for whoever showed up to greet him.

May it be the Gorgons or someone else, it didn't matter.

Ares wanted to fight them.

No matter who answered his call, his blades will taste flesh.

Not long after the final echo of his voice, the earth trembled, and trees parted.

Rising from the ground was a mossy stone path that lead directly to the now fully visible temple.

"Come, young God of Olympus. I haven't feasted in decades." A woman's voice sadistically purred.

Without thinking twice, Ares re- mounted Pontes, and once again with a gesture, they were off in a fiery blur.

Colored murky green and black, the temple was relatively small with ornate stone pillars equally spaced around its walls, and a large staircase leading to a courtyard with a singular path leading to an open-arched doorway.

"Well, this is inviting" Ares said eyeing the stone statues standing guard, their faces frozen in terror.

Dismounting Pontes and removing Praeco from his head, just as he was about to set foot in the courtyard, A violent shout assaulted his ears.

"YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO STEP ON OUR LAND FILTH!" A different women's voice screamed.

"What? You invited-"

Ares sensed something coming his way and immediately dodged, rolling to the right.

*BOOM*

After the smoke settled, looking back to where he previously stood, Ares saw stone rising from within the crater the blast created.

'So it's like that?' He thought.

Holding out his hands, in a red cloud of smoke, the blades that Brontes forged were produced.

"It's too bad I don't have a name for you guys yet." Ares said out loud sighing, gripping the handles of his swords tightly.

He doesn't want to call them the "Blades of Chaos" even if they're an identical copy.

He wants them to be unique.

Although they're a copy, they don't have to be named as such.

'I'll think of something later.' Ares thought.

"I thought I was to late to fight the Gorgon sisters." Ares said brandishing his blades, slowly walking toward the temple's entrance. "And then I realized your immortal. It's a shame Medusa is dead." Stopping feet away from the door, unable to see inside, Ares spoke one again, a smile splitting on his face. "I would have liked to dance with all three of you."

"YOU FILTH! YOU WILL DIE SLOW!"

Slithering out the temple, her face twisted in rage, was an obese woman with a snakes lower body and woman's upper half.

At 18ft tall, her skin was mold green with wrinkles, matching the scales on her back, and the writhing, hissing snakes atop her head.

Opening her mouth, she let out a scream that produced a red wave of energy that pushed not only Ares, but everything in front of her back.

Not receiving any damage, and only slightly off balance, Ares swung both his arms, his blades extending on ethereal chains attempting to cleave the woman in two.

Noticing the oncoming attack, the woman slammed her tail into the ground causing the already fallen rocks and statues to fly into her path, blocking Ares' blades.

Deciding it best for a close quarters fight, Ares moved through the debris amidst the dust and once he close enough, began to button mash circle.

Unleashing a flurry of strikes, some original and some stolen from the legend Kratos himself, Ares gave the obese snake woman no reprieve as his blades produced cut after cut, resulting in anguished screams, red energy releasing everywhere.

The courtyard looked post apocalyptic.

Attempting to gain some space, and subsequently some rest, the snake woman swung her wounded tail wildly, hoping one swing would knock the filthy God away.

Seeing her desperation, Ares smiled and relented his onslaught, allowing the snake woman's tail to connect with his torso, but not before impaling his blades into it also.

'I hope this works.' Ares thought.

*BOOM*

The snake woman smashed her tail and the filthy God into the temple, causing many to fall and the ground beneath them to shake.

Panting heavily, cuts adorning her obese body and face, the woman looked around and noticed the filthy God was no where to be seen.

Smiling to herself, she then looked to her tail which was under some debris and pulled.

But nothing.

Pulling again, a little harder this time, the snake woman still could not dislodge her tail from under the debris.

"The filth is gone Stheno. Come help your sister, I'm stuck." the obese woman said haughtily.

"Oh really Euryale?" A voice called out from the rubble Euryale's tail was under.

All Euryale had time to do was look back with wide eyes, and then her world seesawed.

Still underneath the rubble holding on tightly to his blades, Ares exploded out, whipping his chains like the reigns of a horse, causing the obese Eurayle to rocket into the air before being violently smashing into the ground.

Ares didn't stop there however.

Now fully out of the rubble, he held his chains together, and like Hulk did to Loki, smashed her body from side to side.

What was once an obese snake woman, was now paste and bones on the courtyard's grounds.

"Come Stheno. Avenge your sister." Ares said proudly, green blood covering his body, making his twisted smile even more so.
