Erda is quite literally the better parent instead of the emperor hope they reconcile.
She’s banished from the imperium for committing maybe the biggest in all of 40k. Helping the ruinous powers split the primarchs because she didn’t want her sons and daughter to be war machines. The emperor instead of killing her banished her, a sign of compassion maybe.

Erda is what we would call a the primarchs good parent. I think somewhere it said she was responsible for them being transported everywhere because she didn’t want them to only know war like the emperor planned.
