That's called description, serving to give the reader a better picture of what's happening/the scene/the emotions, as opposed to just going from "You just got stronger by X" to "you just got stronger by Y"
But then, the clerk's face devolved into a much less profound and much more honest look of silent but not absolute desperation.

No, no way in hell. With every day that I'm not writing the story, I'm growing more and more desperate to just get back to it but... Ugh, I really don't want to be making excuses, but in over five years of writing on webnovel (most of which, I was writing daily and A LOT more than I did recently) I can't recall ever struggling as much as I did to write recently. But hey, finally managed to push through and write a chapter (albeit, for another story) so I really hope I will get some sleep and then finally break the curse that held me captive the last few days. Tl:DR - I'm burned out like never before, but I'm growing desperate enough to just push through it anyway, hopefully, new chapters should come up by the end of today.
Shush :D

The folding method used in making of Japaneese katana's wasn't a revolutionary or specially effective method. It was the only option they had to work with the poor quality metal that was present on their island. The rest is pretty much nerdish culture doing its magic of mystificying everything that's related to Japaneese history. It sounds cool, but actually had little to no effect of the quality if you can get yourself good quality steel to begin with. Then again, who am I to say that MC reached the peak of his ability to craft? :3
'Is it just me or is the act of hammering something down using pretty much the same motions as punching out?' I thought, only to shake my head and then use the tongs to pull the finished half of the scythe's blade's body from the wreckage of the mold…

Read to find out :D What I can tell is that this part wasn't written randomly just to sound cool, but is a legitimate part of the story :3 (although, if you check your last paragraph comments, you might start seeing some connections)
"And Qi is nothing more than an echo of shared consciousness, isn't it?"

Thanks for the good word! The cover is ai-made, so I wouldn't be surprised if there were others like it
This part is intentionally convoluted and not really clear yet.
"After all, since Qi, mana, spiritual power, or however else you would like to call it, is just a shadow of shared consciousness. And that means, if I can infuse this power into the air, how else would its impurities manifest if not as dirt, pollution?"

I do that at times >.> But trying not to if I don't really have to
Soon.(TM)
Yeah, I'm aware. Sadly, I came to realize that I infused a BIT too much romance into the story by the time it was no longer plausible for me to change it. Worry not, though, there's a fair bit of crafting later on too! :3
'Let's not get ahead of myself,' I thought, desperately striving to calm myself down while trying not to let the awkward silence between the two of us get to me. 'She's not coming to my place, she's coming to check the device up and then help me out with my cultivation. That's all there is to it!'
