Cracking eggs, using a spatula, and anything else that required fine motor control was caput. Eggs were stuck to the ceiling, a spatula broken in half with the other half penetrating the metal refrigerator, and the scrambled eggs were full of little pieces of eggshell. The two girls, still groggy, wandered down the stairs trying to see what was going on only to see a scene of total carnage.
"Wa-What happened," Maya asked, confused.
"Oh, sorry I woke you guys up, I'll go pick up something for breakfast," Alistar, who hadn't made a mess in the kitchen for years now, said in embarrassment.
"... caffeine…now," Mari said, looking half-dead.
After a few more accidents, they all went to Akane Academy together. The girls saw that something was off about Alistar, but they knew he would tell them if it was serious. Other than him twitching here and there, and a new style choice, he seemed completely normal.
The walk to class was an arduous one. It felt like his balls were smacking his leg just a little too hard with every step he took.
'It's all for the grind, it's all for the grind, it's all for the grind-'
He repeated this mantra over and over in his head all the way to class. He was constantly making sure his legs didn't buckle under the pressure.
"Ahh, you made it, can you settle an argument?"
Shizuno asked, a little annoyed.
'Hmm, I feel a bit better now…'
"OOOI, don't drag someone else into this! I deserve to be in the Strikers too!" Pinky screamed.
Alistar had to hold himself back as he almost backhanded her on instinct.
"No, you're weak," Alistar said shortly.
"Who are you calling weak you lazy bum!!!"
Pinky sprinted at him, fist cocked back, completely covering herself in Prana. This seems very familiar…
"Brute strength, no technique, your footwork is terrible, get rotated, and you a ho," He deadpanned at her attempts at violence.
'As a master of violent activities, this tsundere is paltry. Come back when you have reality-bending powers.'
She, again, faceplanted, her underwear on full display. Her face slightly buried itself in the floor due to being covered in aura.
"Oh, it's a panda today, huh?"
Shizuno commented as usual.
"I'll…I'll get you next time you bastaaaaaaaard!"
Pinky ran out of the classroom, kicking up a fuss. The students laughed a bit at her expense then carried on with their random morning conversations.
"You look miserable as ever today," Alistar said.
"Speak for yourself, you look like a total mess," Shizuno said with a slightly worried tone. She had never seen him look anything but perfect as far as appearance goes, and this is coming from the guy that has no fucks to give about the opinions of others.
"Mhm, pot calling the kettle black ay?"
"...go to hell," she deadpanned and promptly fell asleep at her desk.
Class went by without a hitch other than a pencil or two flying from Alistar's hands. Training with the Striker unit went decently well other than a few people being sent flying, similar to the pencils. He saw some jerk-offs playing with some weird black ball of magic off to the side, and a notification from the system grabbed his attention.
[Black Arts LV 1]
'An absolutely useless skill…my favorite!'
Black Arts required long chants and writing in an otherworldly language in magic glowing letters. Let's just say the learning curve is steep for someone with no memories of a past life. However, Alistar always had a habit of picking up useless skills and maxing them out. It may be considered stupid to others, but it was his hobby and favorite pastime.
Alistar didn't care to be tied down by government agencies like Moroha in the future so he kept this development to himself, for now anyway. He was more confused than anything. Seeing his mom use her teleportation magic for years now didn't make him acquire this skill, so what changed?
[Main Character Energy LV MAX] and [True Luck LV MAX].
Apparently, they also help with skill acquisition.
After practice, Moroha, Shizuno, Alistar, and later Pinky meet up and walk home together. It didn't last long as Shizuno laid into Pinky, telling her that Moroha was tired from training and couldn't hang out with her. Pinky ran off yelling as usual and Moroha got mad at Shizuno for "biting the bullet for him," and then told her some cringy middle school pickup line.
"I would rather see you smile!"
Moroha, more like moro-tifying. Get it, because Moroha and mortifying? Nevermind…
To Alistar's surprise, his Shishi was blushing and sputtering in response. Typical sheltered rich girl.
"Wow, that was some grade-A cringe right there," Alistar scoffed.
"Don't talk about my hubby like that you virgin," Shizuno bit back.
"You're one to talk, miss 'I sleep naked with my pillow pretending it's Moroha.'"
"How do you know about that!!!" She screamed.
"I have my ways…say, let's make a deal," he said with a sly smile.
"...What do you want?" she said warily. Shizuno obviously didn't want to accept whatever deal he had to offer, but he had some damning blackmail material she couldn't ignore.
"Teach me the glyph thingies you use in your spells.".
"You…you want me to teach you?"
Shizuno was very confused. She was one of the few people that knew how ridiculous Alistar's strength was. She wasn't surprised in the slightest to watch him beat up that third-rate bully. Although he wasn't on the level of Shu Saura, the King of The Netherworld, he wasn't that far behind. This was further cemented by the weird things he would say and do during their play dates as kids.
"Why me?" she asked for clarification.
"My mom is busy and my little sister is ten and terrible at explaining things."
"Umm, okay? Come to my place after school I guess? Just make sure to text first."
"Oh? Afraid I'll walk in on another spicy encounter with your pillow?"
"You better start running!"
Write!
Darkness of ice, spirit of snow, lend me your breath.
Freeze them to silence deeper than death.
(AN: From the Wiki)
" Freezing Shade!" She chanted and wrote the spell faster than the normal human eye could perceive. She lightly flicked the floating glyphs hanging mid-air with her index finger, sending a wave of frost that would easily kill a normal person on impact.
The white wave passed by Alistar. The only damage however was his hair being frozen, making him look like a Super Saiyan. {Rest In Peace :( }
'I knew it wouldn't hurt him but nothing? Seriously?!'
"So, tomorrow?" he asked nonchalantly.
"I seriously can't with you…yes, I'll see you later," she walked away, exasperated.
And so began the odd relationship of childhood friends turned tutor and student.
