Chương 91: Battle Trial (Strategic Meeting)
"Let's see what you newcomers are made of! It's time for the battle trial!!!"
Yagi looked through his student, reviewing their costumes and seeing in which point the put their focus on, style or functionality and even though most of their costumes were a bit flashy and designed to their taste, their costumes indeed helped them with their quirks.
At least most of them had a decent head on their shoulders.
"I'm liking everyone's styles! Very cool!!"
That was until he saw Izuku's costume, the moment he set sight on it he started to sweat. It was kind of obvious who he was imitating, but he couldn't say anything to it.
Suddenly Akane stood beside him and pulled his strange hood down and ruffled his hair.
"Keep it that way, it looks way better than your strange All Might imitation hoodie."
He started to blush at her comment, but quickly gave her nod. That was dealt with.
"Anyways! Back to the topic, we will do an indoor battle trial, boys and girls!"
Akane once again internally screamed, her body was still stiff from recovering all the damage she gave herself yesterday and even though she said she would risk everything for her ideals, it's not as if it were fun injuring herself for absolutely nothing, so she didn't see how she should defeat her opponents...
...if it was about raw strength. Yes, admittedly, the quirks made everyone here have an outstanding area of expertise, but she was sure she could deal with it as long as she wouldn't get hit.
"Villain-cleanup is usually seen out in the open, but statistically, the better part of it is an indoor job. Most acts of villainy are committed indoors."
"Duh, no shit sherlock. As if gangs openly would deal with human trafficking in broad daylight, or outside of that damn district to be honest."
"Chara!"
"What partner? You just unsealed me after lunch break and are that surprised at that comment? You know that I am right, first and foremost, the illegal stuff brings in the majority of revenue and most of it can only be done indoors if you don't want to get busted in seconds, so I don't know what the point is in saying that."
"You know that some heroes these days are just in for the fame."
"True that is."
Akane shook her head then and hoped that she didn't all too much on the explanation Yagi just gave, but even then it should be recorded somewhere in her brain in cases of emergencies.
"For this test, you'll be separate into villain and hero groups. For a two-on-two battle!"
The class starts asking questions, All Might tries his best in answering them, but ultimately relies on a note he made beforehand. Tenya questions the decision, but Izuku answers that question for him.
Well, now she knew what happened from the moment Chara interrupted her to the present, but there was still on glaring problem.
"What's with me? How do I get assigned, we are 21 students here with me, so it will disrupt the pairs of pairs that will get put together with me!"
"Well, as the honorary seat of UA you have a special role here! Great responsibility will come with great positions. Your task is going to assess each student here and to give them pointers to do better! This will be done once before the battle and after the battle, additionally we will be adding some special slots into the box and whoever draws them will get teamed up in a two to three match, with you with the three against you, understood?"
Akane coughed after hearing that explanation, wasn't that too much?
"And a little message from our headmaster, ahem."
He just turned on a voice recording.
"Hello Akane, this task might have come unexpected, but DOn't YoU thiNk, tHAt as THe hoNOrary SeaT yOu ShoulD be aT leaSt be ABle to DO tHAt?"
That mouse was showing his true colors, but Akane wasn't scared. She will face the challenge head on.

And so, the battles were as followed (mostly like canon though):
1. Midorya Izuku & Uraraca Ochaco vs. Bakugou Katsuki & Iida Tenya
2. Hagakure Toru & Seigi Akane vs. Ojiro Mashirao & Shoji Mezo & Todoroki Shoto
3. Tokoyami Fumikage & Asui Tsuyu vs. Kirishima Eijiro & Sero Hanta
4. Kaminari Denki & Jiro Kyoka vs. Yaoyorozu Momo & Mineta Minoru
5. Aoyama Yuga & Ashido Mina vs. Sato Rikido & Koda Koji
"Huh, so my battle is directly the second and I am put against a martial artist, a guy on with way too many strengthened senses and a dual elemantalist that has ice and fire under his grasp."
Akane sighed, this was basically the dream RPG team. A mage with his powerful long-range attacks, a tank that could also play the role of a damage dealer and a dedicated DPS. The only thing that was missing was a buffer and a healer if that were the case she would have called bullsh*t on this and straight up quit this battle trial.
"Meanwhile my team partner is a normal girl that was a former exhibitionist."
"HEY! I wasn't nude to show the whole world my body! Heck you are basically the only one that can see me with a clear image! So why do you have to embarrass me like that?"
Akane just patted her on the head.
"It's because I like getting a raise out of people. Anyways! The first two teams come here. I will be giving you some advice. First team A."
Izuku and Ochaco nodded before huddling to a circle with Akane.
"Well, Izuku the team and enemy choices couldn't have went better for you, after all you are against Baku and Tenya and while you don't particularly know much about Tenya and his quirk, yet. You do know all the more about Bakugou. When encountering him, try luring him out of the building, if he sees you he surely is going on a rampage! Your priority there is to keep him as far from the building as possible, understood?"
He nodded, yes he knew what to do and he was the proudest he was ever in his life, because Akane basically suggested to get into one on one with Katsuki. He was sure that Kastuki was going to force him to one, but he basically forgot the most important rule Akane taught him.
(Flashback start)
Izuku was carrying something on the beach. He fell into the hole.
"Pay attenTION TO YOUR SURROUNDINGS!"
(Flashback end)
A shiver went down his spine, he won't forget that lesson.
"Good that you get what I was saying. Now onto you Ochaco. As you already heard, Izuku is going to be busy to keep Katsuki as far as possible from the bomb, so you have to understand that you have one of the most important roles here."
"To protect my location."
"Right, but think about who you are up against, it's Iida. A speed type hero. I don't have much to say, but..."
Ochaco was worried that she was going just leave her with a good luck. She wasn't really confident in warding off Tenya.
"...try to use your quirk in another way other than lifting things up. How about trying to lower the friction under Tenya's feet, but still letting him on the ground?"
Well, at least no-good luck, but it would have been nice if she formulated it better.
"Now team D! Come here!"
Izuku and Ochaco left the circle and went to their assigned position, both of them were still nervous. Now Tenya and Katsuki went to their circle.
"Well, first off all, Kats, do you even want to listen to me?"
He growled, but she could see a nod coming from him.
"Keep your pulse steady and don't rush into battle immediately. The goal of this assignment is teamwork, but if you aren't into that thing, don't lose yourself into your rage. Rage is a strong strengthener, but only under control, try to direct your rage at something specific and don't lash out on other things, otherwise you will find yourself in a quick loss."
He just scoffed at her suggestion, before he turned around and walked away. She could feel that Katsuki still had A LOT of mixed feelings about her, but he was working through them. She was happy that he made some kind of improvements.
"As for you Tenya, don't restrict yourself too much on the two dimensional plain, sometimes a short three-dimensional maneuver will bring unexpected results."
He just nodded, thinking about her words. Gosh, was it so difficult to say more than nothing?
And so, this continued. Team B.
"Mashirao, never forget to pay attention to your tail, it's your greatest strength, but also your greatest weakness."
"Well, there isn't much to say for you, other than that you are very versatile, be creative, oh and also pay attention for the people that are faster than you."
"Todoroki, I already FEEL that you don't want to listen to my advice, so I'll spare you from it, but let me tell you something."
Akane lifted one half of her mask up, showing him her red eye.
"You'll regret underestimating me."
He was scared for a second, shoving her away, before going on his way.
Team I.
"Well, I am going to give you advice when our fight comes, but you might want to strip your shoes and gloves early."
Toru blushed fiercely before shoving Akane away. Why did she had to do that?
Team H.
"Tokoyami, you basically already have the edge in this battle considering that this is a pretty dark building, just take care that the ceiling above your head isn't obliterated and you get exposed to too much sunlight"
"Asui, just be yourself, I am sure that nothing can go wrong with Tokoyami on your side here. Well, but just to be safe, I would pay attention to Hanta and his tape if I were you. He can catch you off guard with his long-range attacks, just pay him back with your tongue if you have the opportunity."
Team J.
"Haha, smash a hole in the sky, so the guiding light defeats your adversaries. Understood Eijiro?"
"What the hell kind of advice is tha..."
"Just destroy the ceiling above Tokoyami if you want to HAVE a chance, understood?"
He nodded fiercely.
"Got it."
"And Hanta, try to avoid tongues from above."
"Seriously, what kind of advice are you giving us?"
Team G.
"Denki, your role here is to protect Kyoka as good as you can. Throw even your life on the line if you have to!"
"Yes sir!"
"Akane, why the hell would you think..."
"Kyoka, your role here is to try and find the location with your ear plugs as fast as possible to blitz them. You must put all your concentration to find them as fast as possible, else you give Momo too much time to create item, causing your inevitable defeat. That's why you have to put your all into finding the hideout. Trust Denki with your life that he is going to protect you with his life, else you stand no chance against the prodigious heir of the Yaoyorozu house, understood?"
Kyoka just nodded at that outburst, she once again understood that she isn't taking things serious enough.
Team C.
"Perish heathen."
"What?"
Minoru just evaporated suddenly.
"Are you sure he is alright?"
Akane just ignored Momo's question and gave her attention.
"Anyways, because of the nature of your quirk, Denki and Kyoka will try their utmost to find you. You are a beautiful, bright, and intelligent girl Momo. Try thinking up some objects that will help you tremendously if you are up against them. Try to win with the least sacrifices of your body fat as possible understood?"
Momo nodded and started thinking up tactics against her enemy team, but not before starting to blush intensely, because her quirk required her to be a bit chubby all the time.
"Akane!"
She just ignored her.
"And what is with me?"
"Dunno, try to make a sticky trap or something with your grapes. Avoid pulling Momo down by getting taken as a hostage. Honestly, just get creative. You are in a narrow space after all, there gotta be some ways to use your quirk effectively. Basically, the same advice as Momo. Try to achieve the most with the least as possible."
Akane gave him a smile and his nose started bleeding.
"Oh and be less of a pervert or I'll castrate you."
Team E.
"Well, Yugo, you should make sure to use your ability in short bursts, if you don't want to get stomachaches, make sure that you only fire then you are sure you can knock your opponent out with it, else you'll find yourself in a vulnerable state and be only deadweight, but that's self-explanatory, right?"
He nodded vigorously, trying to make Akane understand that he understood.
"Mina, don't stray too far from your battle buddy, else he is going to get taken out before you can say 'in less than 20 words'."
"What?"
"Hey!"
"Anyways, stay near him and make sure he doesn't fall, his laser is your most powerful attack here and with that you can end the battle in an instant if you use it right. Else, be flexible with your quirk and be creative, use your acid to slide, use your acid to hang on walls if that's possible, you know your quirk best after all."
Team F.
"You two are the big boys here. Well, you should still be careful though. Koji, there aren't many animals here on ground beta, so try your best to be a chonky boy and stand in your enemies way, else you can try to ask insects..."
Koji suddenly shook with his entire being, trying to stop Akane from her sentence.
"Then not. Rikido can you break rocks with your strength after the boost? If the answer is yes, try to surprise them from the side by crashing through a wall, you'll hear them, these two are noisy after all."

Finally finished:
Akane gasped for air, so much pep talk was...
...FUN! She was happy how people earnestly listened to her advice and appreciated it. She could get used to it.
"Hey, Seigi. You look exhausted, maybe I can..."
"Perish heathen."
Once again Minoru exploded into the air in nothingness. Yagi was just confused at what he just saw.
