Chương 216: Homecoming
After opening my eyes, I found myself in my room. I mean my apartment room. I didn't think I would be back in my room on Earth.
I drop my stuff and go to the bathroom. I haven't taken a look at my face for a while now. I am kinda forgetting what I look like.
The mirror is reflecting my face. But it's a different face than I remember. Am I growing a beard?
I have a beard. It's shaggy and spiky. Why didn't I notice my beard? My hair has grown a lot too. I need to shave it.
Then, let's clean myself up. I can't go home like this. I probably stink as well.
I fill up my tub and get in. I don't use warm water. Because I kinda feel hot. Cold water is biting me but it feels good. How long has it been since I had a bath?
Submerging my body into the tub, I ponder.
Meanwhile on Jupiter, Hazel and the others are searching for Clive everywhere.
"Did you find him?" (Hazel)
"No. He's not here." (Aura)
Aura was in the capital. Hazel was searching the forest next to Galdur. Aera and Aegis are with his parents.
His spirits on the other hand are employing other means to search for him. The entire planet of Jupiter has been searched 3 times. He has been missing for a day.
"Where could he be?" (Hazel)
"Maybe we should check on Earth again." (Eden)
Of course they have searched on Earth. But they didn't find Clive there.
"Would he be there?" (Aura)
"I have a feeling that he is currently there." (Eden)
Everyone gathered at the house in Galdur that they rented. Even his parents came.
"Then shall we go?" (Aera)
Aera opened a portal to Earth. But only Hazel, Aura, Fay and Eden went. Everyone else stayed behind.
They arrived at his room and saw a big backpack on the floor with tattered clothes.
"This smells like master but there's a different smell as well. It's an unfamiliar smell." (Hazel)
"He seems to be in the bathroom." (Aera)
Hazel opens the bathroom door and finds Clive sleeping in the tub.
"Master looks weird."
Aura and Fay goes inside and finds a bearded Clive in the tub.
"When did he grow a beard?" (Aura)
"Something is not right. His body has a lot of injuries. And that's not all, there's a weird feeling in my chest. His body is different." (Hazel)
Hazel goes near him and shakes him to wake him up. He opens his eyes and sees Hazel.
"Oh, Hazel! Long time no see. No, how much time has passed here?"
"Master, you have been missing for a day. We woke up yesterday morning and you were gone. We couldn't sense you and couldn't find you anywhere. (Hazel)
"I have a story to tell all of you. Can you wait? I need to groom myself a bit. Can't go out with a beard like this, can I?"
"But it doesn't look bad on you, honey. You look more mature." (Aura)
"Well, if you like, I can keep the beard. But I know for a fact that some people get bad beard burns when kissing. Are you all okay with that?"
"It is a bit different to kiss with a beard that pointy. Maybe you should try later. For now, just shave it off." (Fay)
After that, Clive finished his bath and shaved. His face is back to normal and he dressed in regular clothes before going back to Jupiter.
After going back, he was bombarded with questions. His mom was practically on the verge of crying. Everyone else were also showing great concern for his well being.
When Fay told everyone that he had a full beard, they laughed. Fay projected an image of his bearded face and everyone burst into laughter.
"I didn't know that my son would look so handsome with a beard." (Mom)
"Mom, do you think I should keep a beard?"
"Well, not that big but a well maintained beard might look good on you." (Mom)
"Maybe I should try as well." (Dad)
Everyone sat on the sofas. This is one of the rooms Clive had created in Fiona's house. It can customized to fit any number of people.
"Where were you, Clive?" (Mom)
"I do not know. But it was a rather unique place. I was sleeping normally until I woke up in a different place. It was a place that was ruined."
"A place that was ruined?"
Everyone wondered. The word ruin can mean many things. So it doesn't give a general idea.
"Aera, hold my hand. Analyze my memories of that place and tell me more about it."
Aera holds his hand and starts her analysis. But after a moment she opened her eyes apologetically.
"Master, my computational capacity can not process the memories. I will need more help." (Aera)
Aegis joined in as well. With the both of them working in tandem, their powers increase. Even then, it took them a while.
"Analysis completed. Master, the place you were at is a ruined world." (Aera)
"A ruined world. Well, Strauss did call it that. But what does that entail?"
"A ruined world is not so uncommon. Every world has one. But the one you were in is special. It is the primordial ruined world. It is said that the primordial creators lived there.
But that world has become a world of ruin. Only chaos, death and destruction remain there. The primordial creators have abandoned that place and have created the current worlds." (Aera)
This information is highly classified. Only the creators and administrators are privy to this knowledge. Mere creations like Clive can never know of that.
Everyone else were wondering about this primordial ruined world.
"Aera, project my memories. It will be a lot faster if I show everyone my experiences."
A screen appeared on the wall and a documentary started. Aera had analyzed the memories and compiled them in order.
Everyone saw how Clive woke up, struggled, met Keith, killed, got injured and explored, fought ridiculous opponents and survived. The documentary was not dramatic but it added to everyone's worries.
First to snap was his mother. But she fainted from the shock after seeing Clive being punched by the gorilla. Dad took her back to Primis Societas.
After the documentary was over, Clive himself wondered how he survived against that gorilla.
"That was a tough and painful fight. I even had my life flashed before my eyes when that thing punched me. I only survived due to this one."
He brought out that weird, black creature. It's looking around and soon climbed onto Clive's shoulder.
"This thing kept healing me. That's why I didn't die. I would have died from the poison if this one hadn't healed me."
Clive was lighthearted as he has already overcome those issues. But Hazel and the others were frustrated.
"I know this is a bit selfish of me but I have a request for all of you."
They look at him. He has made up his mind.
"It seems that Samantha is in a pickle. I will leave to help her soon. I will not ask you to come with me since that would be too selfish. Will you all wait for me?"
"That really is selfish. But I will not be obstinate. I know that I will be nothing more than a burden if I accompany you. So I will stay here." (Fay)
Hazel and Aura tried to argue but they soon gave up as well. Only Aera and Aegis will go with him since they are his weapons.
"I will try to explain everything once I get back. Since the time axes are different, it probably won't be long for you. Aera, how much time did I pass in that ruined world?"
"If I compare it to Earth's time, you have spent more than 700 hours in that world." (Aera)
"And I thought it was only 120 hours."
Clive gets up and takes his leave. He has to inform everyone that he will be gone for some time.
"What do you think?" (Aura)
"Master is becoming something else. He is no longer a harbinger. That Keith guy seemed pretty suspicious. I believe there's more to it than just Samantha being in trouble." (Hazel)
They decided to ask Gwen after Clive leaves. This will become a big problem in the future.
