Yun Che rubbed his temples, feeling a mixture of frustration and amusement as they stood at the edge of the cliff. "It's official, it's a scam," he muttered, his voice carrying the weight of his annoyance. The map given by Du Ming had led them here, miles away from the harbor, deep into the mountains southwest of the Imperial Palace. "All this effort for… what?"
"If I ever see him again, I'll string him up…" Mio growled, her eyes narrowing in frustration. The wind whipped through her hair as she scanned the desolate landscape, searching for anything remotely valuable.
Yun Che let out a short laugh. "I'll be happy to do the honors. Maybe kick his face in while we're at it, return it to the factory settings." Despite his irritation, the adventure with Mio had been anything but dull. At least there was that.
As they scoured the area, Mio's voice echoed from a distance, sharp with curiosity. "Wait, Danna-sama! There's a grave here!"
"A grave? All the way up here?" Yun Che followed her voice, intrigued. He stepped up beside her, taking in the sight of the ancient, worn tombstone. A tombstone on an unclimbable cliff. Time had erased most of the inscriptions, leaving only faint traces of words long lost to history. But what caught their attention wasn't the grave—it was the odd ruby sitting atop the tombstone, glowing with a faint, otherworldly light.
"Look at this, a glowing red stone," Mio commented, bending down to inspect it. "Is this the treasure? Doesn't look like much."
-----------------------------
[Ding… It's just a glowing ruby.]
----------------------------
Yun Che frowned, arms crossed over his chest. "Not much by our standards." He sighed deeply. In the Profound Sky Continent, profound stones and coins were the true currency of power and wealth. Gems, like the ruby before them, were worth less than dust unless they held some hidden profound energy. "It's just another shiny rock."
Mio poked the ruby with her finger, raising an eyebrow. "*sigh, You're telling me we came all this way for *this*?"
Yun Che's frustration flared as he kicked a nearby rock, sending it skittering off the cliff. "Du Ming's map led us to an empty grave. Nothing but a worthless gem. If that con artist ever shows his face again, he's getting a one-way ticket off this mountain. Well, not kind of his fault since he gained it from another person so instead of him, we're the ones being tricked."
"Right off the edge?" Mio giggles, standing up and dusting off her hands.
"Straight into the sea," Yun Che grunted. "But something still feels…odd with this grave." He narrowed his eyes at the ruby. "Why would someone leave a glowing stone on a grave like this? It's like bait, but for what?"
Mio tensed, her instincts kicking in as the ruby's faint glow began to pulse stronger, its light intensifying with each passing second. "Danna-sama... is it just me, or is that thing getting brighter?"
Before they could react, the ruby shot a beam of crimson light into the sky, piercing the clouds above. The ground trembled beneath their feet, and ancient runes surrounding the grave lit up, previously invisible to the naked eye.
"What the—?!" Yun Che staggered back, eyes wide as the tombstone began to hum with a pulsating energy that radiated throughout the surroundings.
Mio, standing beside him, felt the surge and gasped. "Danna-sama! This isn't just a grave… it's a seal!"
Both of them stood frozen, anticipating something dramatic to unfold. Yet, instead of an explosion of power or a hidden relic, the seal simply shimmered before revealing a set of glowing words etched onto the tombstone. Their excitement wavered, leaving them more perplexed than ever.
Yun Che, with a deep breath, refocused. "System, scan the words," he urged, his voice sharp with both curiosity and suspicion.
The system responded almost instantly, scanning the glowing script as Yun Che and Mio watched, the air around them thick with anticipation.
-------------
[Ding…..]
My Celestial Love
The stars above are my beacons of light,
Reflecting the glow you bring to my heart.
How I have longed for you,
Though my light can no longer reach you.
Still, I shall wait for you,
In the island where the Heaven's Mirror lies,
The place where our gaze met,
Patiently waiting.
Let the red star be your guide,
Across the endless sea,
Toward the everlasting star,
Shining ever brighter,
Just as my love does for you.
And so I wait—
In waiting, I remain.
----------------------
Both Mio and Yun Che exchanged a glance, their expressions shifting from curiosity to understanding. The ancient poem was a heartfelt message from a mortal cultivator to his celestial love, a tale of beauty and tragedy written in the stars.
"Another tale of celestial love," Yun Che mused aloud, his tone contemplative. "How many of those divine cultivators have descended to this world?"
Mio let out a soft sigh, her eyes lingering on the ancient poem in her hand. "It could be more? I thought Lin Xin and Huan Xuyi were already rare examples."
"There might be more," Yun Che replied, his gaze distant as if imagining the countless untold stories hidden in the world. "It seems these love stories between mortals and celestials are more common than we think, even if they usually end in tragedy."
Mio gently read over the poem again, the weight of the words settling in her heart. "How beautiful and tragic," she whispered, her voice carrying a soft melancholy. The poem, much like the others they had encountered, was a reminder of the fleeting nature of love between two beings from different realms—doomed to be separated by time, fate, or the barriers of their worlds.
Yun Che nodded in agreement, recognizing the echo of loss and longing, not unlike the story of his father-in-law, Xia Hongyi. The tale of the overlord and Huan Xuyi, and the tale of Lin Xin and her husband. Yet, another tale of a mortal bound by love for a celestial being, both separated by the chasm between their worlds.
As Yun Che finished reading the poem, the ruby in his hand dimly glowed, casting a faint red light over them.
"Is this what the poem meant by the 'red star'?" Yun Che mused, turning the ruby over in his hand.
Mio nodded as realization dawned on her. "Then the ruby will glow brighter the closer we get to the place in the poem? This Heaven's Mirror? Is it a place? An item? A continent?" she said, piecing together the clues. "But it's in the endless sea… it could take months, even years."
Yun Che frowned in thought. "'Towards the everlasting star…' He could mean the sun."
Mio's eyes widened as the connection became clearer. "Then the direction of the sun?"
"Most probably," Yun Che confirmed, a faint smile tugging at his lips. The "endless sea" and the "everlasting star" clearly pointed toward the direction of the sun and the vast ocean, as the opposite route would only lead them back to the land. He turned toward Mio, his eyes gleaming with anticipation. "Well, only one way to find out. Mio... up for a little adventure?"
Mio's face lit up with excitement, her usual energy amplified by the thrill of the unknown. "Hai! It does make our date even sweeter!" she exclaimed, eager to embark on their next quest to uncover the ancient cultivator's hidden treasure.
With renewed determination, Yun Che carefully stowed away the ruby, the faint glow still pulsing softly. Together, they soared into the sky, the wind rushing past them as they flew side by side, leaving the land behind. Following the sun's path, they ventured out into the endless expanse of the sea, aiming toward the unknown and whatever mysteries the distant horizon held.
--------------------------------------------
"Can you contact the main sect?" a dark-skinned man with blonde hair asked his companion.
The other man shook his head grimly. "No, still no answers. None of the profound stones have responded. We've been out here for weeks now. The sect should've responded by now."
"What are we going to do with these women? It's been two weeks." His eyes shifted toward the group of one hundred women they'd captured. They were tasked with keeping them alive and unharmed, as only the most beautiful were taken to their sect. A single blemish on them could cost the men their lives.
"The orders are clear. We're not allowed to touch them. They have to stay pure until they reach the main sect. The flying members were supposed to be here days ago to collect them," the other man grumbled. "We've sent multiple profound messages, but there's been no response."
One of the men, growing impatient, began walking toward the cowering women. "That's it, I'm taking one of them. We can always pick up another at the port."
The others smirked darkly as the women clumped together in terror. "Let's take turns. It'll give the others a preview of what'll happen when they reach the main sect."
The man reached for one of the women, yanking her forward as she screamed in fear. "Please... stay away from me... No! Please... No!"
Just as all hope seemed lost, a voice echoed from above.
"Wow, trying to force yourself on an innocent woman? In broad daylight, no less?"
All heads snapped upward, their predatory sneers vanishing as they spotted a young man perched nonchalantly on one of the sail beams, his modified white coat fluttering in the wind. His presence was like a thunderclap on a clear day—unexpected and full of danger.
"You… who are you?!" The men scrambled, drawing their swords in alarm, the threat in their tone a pale mask over their growing fear.
The young man chuckled, his expression calm, almost bored. "Me? Just a guy who really hates people like you. Who treated women like objects" He stood effortlessly, balancing on the beam as if gravity was merely a suggestion. His gaze shifted lazily over them, but there was no mistaking the lethal intent in his eyes.
The would-be attacker sneered, his grip on the woman's arm tightening. "You dare challenge the Yin Devourer Sect? Do you have any idea what kind of death you're asking for?"
Unimpressed, the young man tilted his head. "The Devourer Sect, huh? I guess some of you are still alive." His voice was casual, but it sliced through the tension like a blade.
The leader of the group, a burly man with a scar running down his face, stepped forward. His profound energy flared as he growled, "You're dead, boy!"
"I guess some were spared during the destruction of the main sect," Yun Che mused, his eyes narrowing as he detected the familiar, vile aura emanating from the sea. He activated his Eagle Scent long before approaching, catching a whiff of something he recognized. His suspicions were confirmed when he spotted a lone ship adrift in the distance. The Yin Devourer Sect must have used the ship to discreetly transport their captives, avoiding detection from the empire by relying on the sect's flying members to retrieve the women later.
"Pity," Yun Che muttered, a flicker of amusement in his eyes. "Still doing their jobs, blissfully unaware of their sect's demise."
"Boy, picking a fight with the Yin Devourer Sect is the last mistake you'll ever make. Killing you here will make sure no one finds out about this ship," the burly man threatened, stepping forward with his blade drawn.
Yun Che's smirk widened as he glanced at Mio, who watched with mild disinterest. "I guess you didn't hear the news. The Yin Devourer Sect is no more."
"You… what?" The burly man's eyes narrowed. "The sect is the strongest in the empire! It can never be defeated!" His voice carried disbelief, yet there was a hint of uncertainty.
Yun Che chuckled darkly. "Actually, it was annihilated. Buried under an avalanche." He crossed his arms, his smirk turning into a grin. "Turns out building a sect at the foot of a mountain wasn't the brightest idea. All it took were a few well-placed explosives to send the whole thing tumbling down. Of course, I made sure to wipe out the sect masters and their loyal dogs before that."
The burly man's face twisted in rage. "You… what kind of nonsense are you spouting?! Lies! You dare—"
Yun Che interrupted him with a casual wave of his hand. "I know it sounds hard to believe. Two people, me and my fiancée, took down an entire sect. Quite the memorable date, if you ask me."
"Men, kill this liar!" the leader roared, desperation seeping into his voice.
Yun Che shrugged nonchalantly as the men charged forward. "I guess some people need to see things firsthand to believe it. No matter." He readied himself for what was about to come.
Mio, who had been observing the scene with disdain, scrunched her nose. "Danna-sama, these people are quite bold... and they reek," she commented, her voice tinged with disgust. Her special hat sat perched atop her head, concealing her radiant features—at least until now. As she removed it, her ethereal beauty instantly drew the attention of the men aboard the ship.
Her beauty far shadows the beauty of the captured women.
"This... a special woman!" one of the Yin Devourer Sect members shouted, his eyes widening in greedy awe. The others quickly perked up, recognizing the rare and potent Yin energy radiating from her. A woman like this was priceless, especially to their sect master. "The sect master will be pleased! Brothers, kill the brat and seize her!" he roared, rallying the men as they lunged forward.
Before Yun Che could even react, Mio was already a step ahead. Her eyes flashed darkly, and with a swift, fluid motion, she raised her hand. "I'll leave you to it." Yun Che started, but the scene before him changed in an instant.
From Mio's fingertips, threads of dark, shimmering webs shot out, binding the men in mid-motion. The sticky, unyielding strands wrapped around them like a cocoon, lifting them off the deck and stringing them up effortlessly. The Yin Devourer Sect members flailed helplessly, their weapons clattering to the ground as they were suspended in the air, trapped in Mio's web.
"How foolish," Mio muttered, her expression cold as she tightened the bindings, silencing any protests.
Yun Che sighed as Mio effortlessly incapacitated their would-be attackers. Her dark web shot out swiftly, binding the men and leaving them dangling helplessly from the ship's rigging. The fight was laughably one-sided—these Spirit Profound Realm men were mere ants compared to the towering power of a Sovereign Profound Realm warrior like Mio. The skirmish had been over before it truly began, leaving only the sound of creaking ropes and muffled groans from the ensnared attackers.
Turning his attention to the women who had been held captive, Yun Che extended his hand. With a flick of his wrist, he used his Kido to unlock their bindings. The chains and ropes fell away, and the women huddled together, trembling and uncertain. Fear lingered in their eyes, but there was a flicker of hope, sparked by their sudden freedom.
"Don't worry," Yun Che said gently, raising his hands to show he meant no harm. "I'm not here to hurt any of you."
One of the girls, a striking beauty with long black hair and weary eyes, stepped forward protectively, shielding the others behind her. "How can we trust you?" she asked, her voice laced with suspicion.
Yun Che gestured toward Mio, who was standing beside him, clinging to his arm. "You can trust my companion."
However, Mio was clearly in no mood for niceties. She barely spared the girls a glance, shooting them a jealous glare. Her grip on Yun Che's arm tightened possessively, and the girls flinched under her piercing stare.
"Don't mind her," Yun Che sweatdropped, nervously scratching his cheek. "She's… a bit jealous but she took them out easily."
The black-haired woman hesitated, eyeing Mio warily as she didn't want others to share the men's fate, but seeing Yun Che's calm demeanor, she finally stepped forward and bowed her head. "There are more of us inside the ship. Can you help free them as well?"
Yun Che nodded, and the woman led them below deck to a cramped brig where tens of other girls were being held. With a swift motion, he and Mio broke the locks, freeing the remaining captives. They helped the girls up to the deck, where Mio began tending to their injuries.
Mio's expression softened as she pulled out simple onigiri she had prepared for their lunch. Smiling warmly, she handed them to the starving girls, who ate with tears in their eyes. For the first time in days, they had a proper meal. She quickly made more to ensure every girl had enough to eat.
The simple meals was much more than the girls could have expected. Each one was delicately crafted, and it was clear they were made with care. The girls eagerly devoured them, their eyes lighting up with each bite. It was probably the best meal they had in days, maybe even weeks. Seeing their smiles and hearing their quiet praises filled Mio with a quiet pride, though she tried not to show it too much in front of Yun Che.
"If Retsu were here, she'd be proud of you," Yun Che commented with a soft smile, glancing at Mio. "You fed the needy with your own hands, just like she would."
Mio blushed slightly but shrugged it off. "It's not much. They just needed something to lift their spirits."
"But still," Yun Che continued, "you've made them feel cared for. That's something special."
The thought of Retsu's approval warmed Mio's heart. She knew Retsu, with her nurturing nature, would have loved seeing these girls safe and happy.
Once the girls had eaten and their wounds were treated, Yun Che turned to the representative. "Does anyone here know how to steer a ship?"
One of the girls raised her hand timidly, and Yun Che guided her to the helm. After the system mapped out the location, he pointed towards the direction of the Blue Wind Imperial Port. "Head that way. You'll reach the port in about an hour. The authorities will take care of the rest."
The black-haired woman, who had first spoken up, bowed deeply once more. "Thank you, kind sir, for freeing us. We can finally return to our families."
The other women followed her lead, bowing in gratitude as they expressed their thanks to both Yun Che and Mio.
"You are?" Yun Che asked, intrigued by the girl who had taken such great care of the others, ensuring they were fed before herself. It reminded him of Ling Ming, who also looked after others in the sect. He smiled at the memory.
The girl hesitated, then spoke softly, "I am Ling Ling. I speak for all the girls here. I've been watching over them since we were captured."
Yun Che's eyebrows rose. "A Ling? You wouldn't happen to know Ling Ming, would you?"
Ling Ling's eyes widened in surprise. "She… she's my cousin. Do you know her?" Her voice was laced with hope. Ling Ming had disappeared, and no one could find her. Ling Ling had been searching the ports, only to end up captured herself.
Yun Che chuckled softly. "She was captured by the sect, but we rescued her about two weeks ago. She's safe, and in fact, she's become one of the leaders of the order. You should hear what she did at the sect when you meet her."
"The order?" Ling Ling asked, her curiosity piqued.
"A hidden order created to protect oppressed people, especially women like you. Your cousin joined with a few hundred others, and now the order has grown to nearly two thousand members in just two weeks. Half of them were rescued from the Yin Devourer Sect." Yun Che explained as Mio happily continued serving her karaage onigiri to the other girls, their spirits visibly lifting as they ate.
Ling Ling's eyes shone with newfound determination. "I see... So she's been safe all this time. That gives me more reason to join your order. I want to be with her again."
Yun Che smiled and pulled out a small stack of insignia cards, each bearing a logo resembling an arrowhead. He handed them out to the girls. "You're all natural talents in cultivation. Interested in joining the order, like Ling Ming? It will not only provide you protection for the rest of your lives, but also give you the strength to fight back. To make sure none of this ever happens again."
Ling Ling and the others stared at the cards in their hands, hope and resolve growing in their eyes.
"If you go to the Imperial Palace and show this insignia at the gates, the faction will welcome you with open arms. It's an order created entirely of women, established by the Grand Imperial Protector under the command of Princess Cang Yue," Yun Che added, smiling warmly.
The girls, now full of hope for the future, bowed deeply once more, grateful for the opportunity to not only be free but to join something greater.
"The Princess Cang Yue? We can join her faction?" one of the girls exclaimed, her eyes wide with excitement as she clearly admired the princess for her bravery during the rebellion.
Yun Che nodded. "Yes, just show the insignia card at the palace gates. You'll be admitted into the faction. And don't worry—you can visit your families whenever you want. The faction in the Imperial City is the safest place for women like you, offering not only shelter and protection but also training to hone your cultivation skills. You'll be surrounded by protectors, all of them sisters in the same cause."
The women exchanged hopeful glances, nodding in agreement. They had been through so much, and now, the chance to join a faction that would protect and empower them seemed like a dream. One of them voiced the question in everyone's heart, "We can be safe? Truly safe?"
Yun Che smiled warmly. "You'll be safe. You have my word. Join the order, and no one will ever try to harm you again." He looked around, scanning the group. Some of the girls already showed signs of early cultivation, with a few even reaching the Peak Elementary and Nascent Profound Realm. "I see some of you have already begun cultivating. Trust me, once you join, the bond of sisterhood will only strengthen you. You're lucky to have been saved before reaching the sect... though, that sect no longer exists."
"The sect is no more?" one of the girls asked, a collective sigh of relief sweeping through the group.
"Annihilated," Yun Che confirmed, his voice firm. The women looked visibly relieved, some even wiping away tears of gratitude.
Ling Ling stepped forward, bowing her head in respect. "Thank you for saving our lives. As repayment, we offer our loyalty to your order."
Yun Che waved a hand dismissively, though his expression remained kind. "There's no obligation. Return to your families, take your time, and when you're ready, the order will be there. Many of the girls in the order were once in worse situations than you, yet they cultivate with diligence and have found strength in the sisterhood. Just show the insignia when you're ready, and you'll be welcomed."
The women looked at one another with a renewed sense of purpose and hope. Some were determined to find strength, others sought protection for their families, and a few simply wanted a new path in life. Regardless, they now had a choice—a future.
Yun Che pointed towards the horizon. "Just sail in this direction, and you'll reach the Imperial Port within the hour."
"Thank you, lord…" Ling Ling hesitated, not knowing his name.
"Yun Che," he introduced himself with a grin, "and this little jealous butterfly here is Mio." Mio gave a slight bow, though her arms stayed firmly wrapped around Yun Che, still radiating possessiveness.
"Ufuu, to think that everyone ate my Onigiri." Mio smiles as despite being jealous in women's presence she admit she had fun feeding these girls.
"We thank you, Lord Yun and Lady Mio. One day, we'll repay your kindness," Ling Ling said, and the rest of the girls followed her lead, bowing deeply in gratitude.
Yun Che gave a reassuring nod. "Live well. All of you deserve a happy life. Come to the order at the Imperial Palace when you're ready and if you decided to. I'll see you all should I had the time to visit the order."
With that, Yun Che and Mio soared into the sky, disappearing into the horizon as they continued their journey in search of the missing land. The girls watched them leave, admiration and determination etched into their faces as they steered the ship back to the Imperial Port after Yun Che fixed the ship's Profound Engine. They tended to their injured companions with potions given by Yun Che, their spirits higher than they had been in days. None of them spared a glance at the men still strung up like insects, forgotten and irrelevant in the face of their newfound hope.
----------------------------
"Danna-sama sure is nice to those women," Mio pouted, her eyes narrowing as they soared through the sky together.
"They deserve to live," Yun Che replied with a sigh, trying to reassure her. "I have no intention of looking at them oddly."
"Still, they're looking at you like you're a piece of meat! Maybe I should string them up as well," she growled, her yandere tendencies flaring up.
"Aren't you a jealous one?" Yun Che chuckled, patting her head gently. He then scooped her up midair, locking his gaze on her.
Mio squealed happily, her jealousy momentarily forgotten as she nestled into his arms. "Muu! No one can look at you that way other than me!"
"What about Retsu and the others?" Yun Che teased, a playful grin spreading across his face.
Mio sighed, her expression softening at the mention of her flock sister and the other flock members. "Only them…" she admitted reluctantly.
"Hai Hai… aren't you just adorable?" Yun Che replied, his smile brightening as Mio rubbed her cheeks against his own, an affectionate gesture that conveyed how much she loved him. In that moment, the world around them faded, leaving just the two of them in their own little bubble of happiness.
"Hmm, it might be a while before we can find the island," Yun Che said with a light shrug as he carried Mio through the sky, the vast ocean stretching endlessly beneath them.
Mio, always quick to think, eyed the ruby in his hand. "Maybe we can use the ruby? The glow might mean something," she suggested.
Intrigued, Yun Che handed her the glowing gem. As soon as it was in her hands, the ruby began to pulse with a brighter light, almost as if guiding them. "Danna-sama, it glows brighter in this direction," she said, pointing ahead with a smile, her eyes reflecting the shimmering ruby.
Yun Che grinned, his excitement matching hers. "Well then… let's get on with it."
With Mio holding on to him, the two surged forward, following the ruby's guiding light. The ocean breeze brushed against their skin as they soared through the skies, both of them eager to discover whatever hidden treasure or mystery awaited them on this adventure. The earlier encounter with the men felt distant now, as nothing could ruin the excitement of exploring the unknown together.
--------------------------
[Ding… Profound Barrier detected]
------------------------
"The ruby is really bright," Mio noted, her eyes narrowing as the gem pulsed even more intensely.
Yun Che's gaze followed the ruby's glow. "A profound barrier? Could it be here?" he wondered aloud, his curiosity piqued as they circled the area, scanning their surroundings.
They continued to glide over the vast sea, the ruby acting as their compass. As they followed its increasingly radiant light, they could feel the subtle pull of profound energy surrounding them, hinting at something concealed, something hidden beneath the surface.
"I think we're getting close," Mio said, gripping his arm a little tighter as the light from the ruby became almost blinding. The air around them seemed to shimmer faintly, as if they were drawing near to a powerful barrier, the island possibly cloaked by ancient magic.
-------------------------
[Ding…The profound barrier that protected this place appears to be invisible. Initiate hacking…]
[Barrier Hacked. The host can now safely pass through.]
----------------------------
Suddenly, a giant dome-shaped profound barrier flickered into visibility before their eyes, encompassing a vast area in the middle of the sea. Its presence was unexpected, and both Yun Che and Mio paused in midair, intrigued by its sudden appearance. The shimmering surface of the barrier hummed with energy, glowing faintly under the sunlight, and stretched far beyond what they could see in a single glance.
"A profound barrier... and in the middle of nowhere," Yun Che mused, narrowing his eyes as he tried to gauge its power and purpose. The barrier itself seemed ancient, yet still potent, as if protecting something of great importance within.
Without hesitation, Mio extended her hand toward the barrier. She touched it, expecting some resistance, but her hand slipped effortlessly through the shimmering surface as if it weren't even there.
Her eyes widened slightly. "It's... permeable? At least to me," she commented, pulling her hand back out, examining it as if expecting some lingering effect.
Yun Che watched carefully. "It's not rejecting us," he said thoughtfully. "Looks like we can pass through after the system hacked it through the ruby." He glanced at Mio.
Mio nodded, her curiosity piqued even further. "Let's see what's inside," she said, her usual eager tone returning.
As soon as they passed through the barrier, Yun Che and Mio found themselves momentarily speechless, their eyes widening at the breathtaking sight before them.
"This place…" Yun Che murmured, his voice trailing off.
"My! How beautiful!" Mio exclaimed, her eyes gleaming as she took in the dazzling scenery. Below them, an island stretched out, covered in thousands upon thousands of glittering stones of various colors. Rubies, sapphires, emeralds, diamonds—stones that in Yun Che's world would be worth unimaginable sums. The sheer abundance of wealth scattered across the land was enough to make anyone the richest person alive.
From their vantage point in the sky, the sun reflected off the surface of the stones, sending radiant beams of light upward, creating a mesmerizing illusion. It was as if they were gazing down upon a sea of stars, the island sparkling like the heart of a Nebula Galaxy.
"This… this must be what he meant by *Heaven's Mirror*," Yun Che muttered in awe. The reflection of light and beauty was otherworldly, a true paradise of stones.
Mio's eyes shone brightly as she spotted something familiar. "Are those… diamonds?" she asked, her voice filled with excitement.
Yun Che nodded as he examined the island more closely. "Not just diamonds, Mio. There are rubies, topaz, emeralds… so many valuable stones. It's like an endless treasure trove." His gaze swept across the shimmering landscape, the sheer wealth of the place staggering even for someone like him.
Mio, however, tilted her head slightly in thought. "But… they're just stones, right? I mean, they look pretty, but they're not powerful or anything." Her excitement dimmed as she considered the value in terms of power, rather than wealth.
Yun Che sighed with a nod. "I guess not to the people of this world," he agreed. In this new realm, where cultivation and strength determined one's standing, such precious stones were mere trinkets compared to treasures imbued with profound energy.
Still, the island held a beauty and value that was undeniable, even if not in the form of strength. The sheer radiance of the place, coupled with its mystery, made it a rare find.
Yun Che's voice trailed off as he and Mio touched down on the island, following the glow from the ruby that had led them here. The island was breathtaking—an untouched paradise of shimmering stones, each radiating with an ethereal light. This was the Heaven's Mirror, the mysterious location mentioned in the poem.
Mio's eyes widened in awe. "Sugoi! This place is beautiful. So many diamonds!" She twirled in place, marveling at the glowing stones that lay scattered across the island, their radiance amplified by a profound barrier protecting the entire area. The diamonds weren't just scattered randomly—they were arranged, carefully placed to form constellations, as if the very stars themselves had descended to earth.
Yun Che's gaze softened as he took in the serene beauty of the island. "This… this is what he meant by the 'reflection of the heavens.' It's where they first met." His voice was quiet, tinged with a sense of melancholy. "He waited for her all this time. He built this place for her, hoping she'd return… but she never did."
Mio's excitement dimmed, her eyes reflecting the sadness in Yun Che's words. "It's heartbreaking… To love someone so deeply, but never have them by your side." Her voice softened as she walked alongside him, gazing at the diamonds that reflected the noon sunlight, turning them into a sea of stars beneath the sky. "He was waiting for her, wasn't he?"
Yun Che nodded, the tragic story unfolding before them like an unsung ballad. The poem had been right. The Heaven's Mirror wasn't just a hidden treasure—it was a monument to love. The mortal who built this island had been in love with a celestial, a being far beyond his reach. They had met here, perhaps in a fleeting moment of fate, but as with all such stories, their paths diverged. She, a celestial of the heavens, and he, a mortal cultivator, were bound by different fates. No matter how much he longed for her, they were separated by the very laws of their existence.
"This place… is a perfect reflection of the heavens." Yun Che's voice held a note of reverence. "He created this so that his loved one could see him, even if she was far away, even if she never returned." His gaze traveled over the island, where diamonds had been laid in intricate patterns, forming a vast star map—a mirror to the sky above.
Mio bit her lip, her heart aching for the unknown mortal who had spent his life building this island, waiting in vain for the one he loved. Yun Che then spoke "It's like Xia Hongyi's story… loving someone beyond his reach. But this…"
Mio gestured to the star map, to the glowing stones. "This is on a whole other level. He must have loved her so much… to leave behind something like this."
The profound barrier that protected the island had kept it hidden for centuries, the mortal cultivator's creation remaining untouched by the world. The ruby that had led them here was the only clue left behind, planted on his tombstone. It was as if he knew that one day, someone would find the island, uncover his story, and perhaps, share in his eternal longing.
Yun Che ran a hand through his hair, his heart heavy with the weight of the tale. "He left the ruby as a beacon, hoping it would guide someone here… and maybe, just maybe, bring others closer to understanding his love."
The two stood in silence for a moment, the island around them shimmering in the gentle light of the afternoon. The Heaven's Mirror wasn't just a reflection of the stars—it was a reflection of a love that had transcended time, even if it had never truly been fulfilled.
Mio's voice broke the silence, quiet and full of emotion. "Do you think… she ever saw it?"
Yun Che stared out at the horizon, the glimmering diamonds reflecting in his eyes. "I hope she did."
"If not, we saw it. Together," Mio said softly, her eyes lighting up with warmth as she glanced at Yun Che.
Yun Che smiled, squeezing her hand gently. "It brought us closer to each other," he agreed. The atmosphere around them was serene, with the glowing diamonds shimmering like the stars above, and Mio's bright smile only added to the beauty of the moment.
As they walked side by side, Yun Che scanned the area, mentally noting the unique properties of the stones. He couldn't help but think of how valuable they would be in his original world. Although they were considered worthless in this realm, to him, they were treasures—something he could replicate and share with those close to him once he gained samples.
Mio's laughter broke through his thoughts. "Ufuu, to discover this place together, on such an adventure… it's the best date ever," she giggled. "I mean, you and Ret-chan destroyed a dark sect, but now I think we're even with this"
Yun Che chuckled, remembering that intense battle, scattering explosives, sliding down the mountain and air battle on top of the futuristic surfboard with Retsu. "I didn't plan for any of that to happen back then. Even now, it's crazy to think that meeting Du Ming again led us to this beautiful place." He paused, looking at the diamonds around them, then said, "In our world, a place like this would be worth billions of dollars."
"Dollars?" Mio asked, tilting her head curiously. "Is that the currency in your original world?"
"Yeah," Yun Che nodded. "In our world, diamonds are incredibly valuable. People would fight wars over a place like this. But here… it's different. Profound energies, cultivation materials—they're more valuable than diamonds. To the people of this world, this island is just a pretty sight."
Mio sighed softly. "It's strange, isn't it? What one world values so highly can be seen as worthless in another. But you're right, Danna-sama. This place feels special. It's more than just about the diamonds."
Yun Che stopped walking, glancing at the glowing stones. "I don't think we should disturb this place. It's a memorial—a tribute to a love that once was. The guy who built this island, he did it out of pure love. I'd rather not take anything from here. But…" He smiled thoughtfully. "We can recreate it in our inner world. I'll scan a small sample, and the system will help us build our own Heaven's Mirror. Just like we recreate the sanctuary of the Moon Empress in our island."
Mio's eyes sparkled at the idea. "A reflection of the heavens, just for us."
Yun Che nodded, his heart feeling lighter. "Yeah. A place for us to remember this day, this adventure, and the love that brought us here."
"Danna-sama! Look!" Mio shouted, her voice filled with awe as they arrived at a scene of indescribable beauty.
Yun Che's eyes widened as he saw four glowing rubies scattered across the landscape, each casting a soft, ethereal light. The ruby in his hand began to glow even brighter, reacting to the proximity of the others. As they moved closer, the glow intensified, but Yun Che noticed something peculiar—the glows weren't synchronized.
"What's going on?" he muttered to himself, his instincts kicking in. Rising into the air to get a better view, he spotted a large chunk of ruby that wasn't glowing like the others. "Why is this one different?" He knelt beside it, rubbing a small part of the surface. That's when he realized, "Something's missing."
"Danna-sama, the ruby!" Mio called out, pointing at the stone in his hand.
"Could it really be that simple?" Yun Che wondered. He took the ruby and carefully placed it on the broken part of the larger chunk. Instantly, the stone lit up, glowing as brightly as the others, and beams of light shot from all four rubies, converging at a single point in the center of the island. It was like something out of a legend.
"Sugoi!" Mio gasped, her eyes sparkling with wonder. "Look! They're pointing at something!"
"Let's check it out," Yun Che said, taking flight toward the center of the island.
"Hai!" Mio eagerly followed.
They landed atop a hill where the beams converged, and what they found made them freeze in place. At the center of the island, a skeleton in ragged robes sat beneath the ruby, cradling a small, ornate box in its bony hands.
"A skeleton?" Mio murmured, scanning the scene with wide eyes.
Yun Che examined the remains closely, and a chill ran down his spine. This was no ordinary skeleton—it belonged to a Sovereign Profound Realm cultivator, one of immense power. "This… He must've been the one who created this place." He shook his head in disbelief. "He waited for her… until the very end."
Mio's expression softened as she bowed her head in respect. "Dying alone, without a proper burial… How excruciating that must've been for him."
Yun Che bowed his head as well, his voice somber. "People do incredible things for love." His gaze shifted to the box the skeleton held. "Looks like he was holding onto something important…"
"Wait… He must have returned here to end his life, leaving the ruby and poem at the false grave. Then, someone probably made a map to his false grave. He really wanted someone to find him," Yun Che said, his voice filled with understanding.
Mio's eyes softened as she gazed at the scene. "After centuries, his wish was fulfilled. But what's inside this box?" she wondered aloud.
Yun Che cautiously took the box from the skeleton's hand, and the moment he did, a sharp clicking sound echoed through the air. His heart skipped a beat as the ground beneath them trembled.
"This… he booby-trapped the island!" Yun Che exclaimed as the rumbling grew louder. The island beneath them began to collapse, the roar of the sea rising as waves crashed violently against the cliffs. The Heaven's Mirror, once a stunning reflection of celestial beauty, was now being swallowed by the very ocean that surrounded it.
As Yun Che and Mio took to the air, the island began to tremble violently, like a sleeping giant roused from centuries of stillness. Cracks splintered across the ground, zigzagging through the pristine landscape, and chunks of the cliffside crumbled away, plummeting into the churning sea below. The roar of the ocean grew louder, more ferocious, as if it had been waiting for this moment to reclaim what was once its own.
The once-clear, tranquil waters surrounding the island turned turbulent. Enormous waves slammed against the weakening cliffs, surging higher and higher with each strike. The shimmering diamonds and rubies that covered the island reflected the light of the sinking sun, creating a dazzling display as the ocean's fury swallowed them whole.
The central hill, where the ancient skeleton rested, was the last to fall. It stood defiant for a moment, bathed in a radiant glow from the rubies still beaming light into the heavens. But soon, even this final piece of the Heaven's Mirror crumbled, collapsing into the void. The sea roared triumphantly, flooding over the ruins, burying the skeletal remains, the glowing stones, and the sacred memory beneath its endless depths.
With a final crash, the waves swept over the last remnants of the island, silencing the storm of destruction. The once magnificent Heaven's Mirror was no more—its beauty consumed by the sea, leaving behind only swirling waters and the memory of a love story lost to time. As the barrier protecting the island dissolved into nothingness, the serene dawn gave way to the brightness of noon.
"Why pull people to the island only to destroy it in the end?" Mio asked, her heart heavy as she witnessed the once-beautiful landscape disappear beneath the waves.
"He didn't want anyone to sully the place where they first met," Yun Che said, gripping the box tightly. "He rigged the island to collapse so that no one could claim its beauty for themselves. This place wasn't about treasure—it was a memorial. A reflection of the heavens where his loved one had gone. He'd rather see it destroyed than let others take it."
"But you said diamonds and rubies were worthless here," Mio pointed out, confusion in her voice.
"They aren't, at least to him," Yun Che replied. "This place wasn't about the gems or their value. It was about his love. The diamonds were stars, reflecting the heavens where she was. The island was his final tribute to her, and once the box was taken, it triggered the island's destruction—his way of ensuring no one else would defile the place meant only for their love."
The island sank beneath the sea, but in Yun Che's hand, the box remained—the only piece left of the Heaven's Mirror and the immortal love story hidden within it.

"Rest in peace, unknown cultivator." Yun Che muttered solemnly, tossing a diamond that he took in his hand towards the sea that now swallowed the crumbling island. The brilliant gem arced through the air before disappearing into the tumultuous waves. The wealth of untold billions or even trillions, in diamonds, rubies, and other precious stones, now lost forever beneath the sea. Yet Yun Che remained unbothered by the loss of worldly riches; for him, these stones were now part of the burial site, a final resting place for a soul long forgotten by time.
In mere moments, the island—once a glittering reflection of the heavens, a monument to undying love—was gone. Swallowed entirely by the relentless sea. The Heaven's Mirror, which had remained hidden for centuries, was officially lost forever, consumed by the tides that erased every trace of its existence.
As the waves calmed and the storm of destruction settled, Mio gazed out at the now-empty sea, her thoughts lingering on the ancient cultivator's decision to take the secrets of the Heaven's Mirror to his grave. The island, once shimmering with untold beauty, had vanished beneath the ocean, leaving only a haunting memory in its place.
Yun Che and Mio stood in silence for a moment, reflecting on the significance of what they had witnessed. Then, with gentle reverence, they opened the small, weathered box they had recovered from the skeleton's grasp. Inside lay an ancient parchment, carefully preserved over the centuries. Yun Che unfolded it, and they both peered down at what appeared to be another ancient poem, its faded ink still legible against the yellowed paper.
Mio broke the silence, her voice soft and thoughtful. "All this for a poem? Danna-sama, do you think this last poem is part of the treasure he guarded all this time?"
With the sea swallowing the island behind them, they began to read, unraveling the mystery of the ancient cultivator's final message, one that had survived through the ages for them to discover.
Yun Che held the ancient parchment, the last remnant of the unknown cultivator's life. "This last poem… maybe it's the true treasure he wanted us to find." He began to read it as the system scanned the symbols and ancient language etched into the worn paper. Slowly, the words translated themselves before his eyes, revealing the final message the cultivator had left behind—a message not of wealth, but of wisdom, heartache, and eternal devotion.

[Ding….]
My Celestial Love
As I waited,
In cold slumber,
The mirrored heavens
Became my eternal companion.
My last light—
The place where we were meant to be,
To witness the beauty of the world,
Surrounded by stars of the land,
The endless sea,
The everlasting light,
The quiet glow of night.
Upon a cliff near the ancient citadel,
Where winds carry whispers of forgotten realms,
And the horizon stretches like a distant dream.
Here, beneath celestial skies,
We stand between the earth and the heavens.
Our place in the worldly heavens,
Where happiness awaits,
In the world we dwell,
The mirror of the heavens—
A secret known to us alone.
My heavenly sanctuary,
Is yours to take.
------------------------------------
"As the poem mentions, it will lead us to the treasure he loves the most more than this place. The place where everything is there. The Heavenly Sanctuary, a treasure he was willing to share." Yun Che nodded as The Heaven's Mirror will be the memory the ancient cultivator didn't want to sully, once the poem has passed to the finder, he rigged the island to crumble. Burying him and the memory of his love alongside him. Should they fail to escape in time, the secrets of the treasure will be lost forever.
"The ancient citadel? Where could this place lead us?" Mio asked, her curiosity piqued.
Yun Che pondered for a moment. "Most likely he refers to the Blue Wind Imperial City. That's the only city that existed during the era of Huan Xuyi herself. At that time, it's probably has a citadel instead of a castle."
"Then, he built it close to the city?" Mio wondered aloud, her eyes narrowing as she processed his words.
"If we consider the four verses from the poem… Surrounded by stars of the land, the endless sea, the everlasting light, and the quiet glow of night... It suggests a place where someone could see the sea, the sun, the stars, and the night sky. He must have chosen a place isolated enough that no one would stumble upon it," Yun Che continued, piecing the puzzle together.
"The four verses…" Mio's eyes suddenly lit up with realization. "Danna-sama! Could it be?"
Yun Che looked at her, intrigued by her sudden clarity. "What do you mean?"
"Just follow me!" Mio grabbed his hand, pulling him along with determination.
They made their way back to the cliffs of the Blue Wind Imperial City, retracing their steps. To Yun Che's surprise, they returned to the very spot where their journey had begun—the fake grave of the ancient cultivator.
"Wait, isn't this the initial grave where the ruby was found? Well, before it ended up at the bottom of the sea," Yun Che sighed, almost amused by the full-circle nature of their quest.
Mio tilted her head, contemplating the grave. "Wait…Danna-sama, I have a thought… Let's use our Eagle Vision."
Shrugged, Yun Che activated his Eagle Vision, scanning the area carefully. His eyes landed on something hidden in plain sight—a glowing button on the tombstone, faint but unmistakable. His heart raced with excitement.
"Sigh… If I had just used Eagle Vision at the start, we could have saved the Heaven's Mirror from being swallowed by the sea," Yun Che sighed, feeling slightly annoyed with himself.
"But, think about it. We preserved the island's beauty from being discovered by others, right? And besides, if we found it easily, those girls will surely suffer." Mio grinned, nudging him lightly.
"True enough… but how did you figure out this was the spot?" Yun Che asked, genuinely curious. She had pieced together the location of the so-called Heavenly Treasure before he even had a clue.
"He said in the poem something about where everything lies, where he can see it all. So I thought, what better place than this grave? From here, you can see everything—the sea, the sky, the stars. And it's not far from the Blue Wind Imperial City," Mio explained with a proud smile.
Yun Che widened his eyes in realization. "It was that simple? The *stars of the land*... he meant—"
"Maybe it's the flowers?," Mio finished his thought, pointing to the small white flowers surrounding the grave. "They do look like stars with their petals."
"It was that direct?" Yun Che mused, shaking his head in amazement. "I can't believe we missed that."
Mio smiled softly. "It was just a hunch but it kind of makes sense."
"You're something else, Mio." Yun Che pats her head as he nods thoughtfully. "The Heaven's Mirror wasn't just a clue; it was a test. The ancient cultivator must have wanted to see if anyone could solve the riddle to access his treasure. We've been circling around it the whole time."
He stepped forward, pressing the glowing button on the tombstone. "Hmm... nothing happens…."

[Ding... Profound Barrier detected]
----------------------
"Another barrier?" Yun Che wondered.
Both Mio and Yun Che were left speechless as the world around them shifted, revealing a breathtaking flower field that seemed to stretch endlessly. The transformation was sudden, but the beauty was undeniable—a sea of vibrant, delicate flowers swaying gently in the breeze, all leading to a single, magnificent tree standing tall in the center. A small, crystal-clear lake shimmered nearby, reflecting the sky and the vibrant colors of the flowers.
The field overlooked a high cliff that dropped down to the ocean, with the sound of waves faintly echoing in the background. To their amazement, a narrow path led down the cliffside, winding its way to a pristine beach far below. It was a secluded, almost dreamlike place—an illusionary paradise, hidden from the world.
"This… this place is beautiful," Mio whispered, her eyes wide in wonder.
"It's like a hidden realm," Yun Che said, equally stunned as he took in the serene view. "A place so close to the Imperial City, yet completely isolated. And concealed by an illusion… it's perfect for someone who wanted absolute privacy."
"A private home could be built here… a place no one could find unless they could fly," Mio added, her excitement rising as she imagined the possibilities. "It's so peaceful, so beautiful…"
Yun Che nodded, feeling the tranquility of the space wash over him. "It's perfect. Hidden in plain sight, untouched by the world. The cultivator who created this place… they really knew how to protect what mattered most."
They both stood there, mesmerized by the serene beauty of the hidden flower field, a secret paradise where the world's worries seemed to fade away.
Yun Che walked through the flower-filled sanctuary, taking in its pure air and tranquility. "So, this was it all along... the place protected by the profound barrier and hidden by an illusion formation. The grave was the key," he mused. "This is the Heavenly Sanctuary he mentioned—a place he intended to spend his days with her."
Mio sighed softly beside him, her voice touched with sadness. "But he never got the chance to."
As they strolled through the peaceful meadow, Mio's mood quickly shifted. "Danna-sama! This place is perfect for our home!" she chimed, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
Yun Che chuckled at her enthusiasm but hesitated. "What about Cang Yue's manor? We just built it."
Mio pouted slightly, then explained, "That's her manor, but we've always wanted a private place, away from the world. Ret-chan and the others agreed—it's not that we don't like the manor, but none of us feel completely at ease living near so many people. A thousand beauties devoting themselves to you as their savior... it's flattering, but also exhausting. Not to mention, us being comfortable with you living among those women."
Yun Che smiled, understanding what she meant. A private retreat, hidden away from the outside world, did sound perfect. The quiet sanctuary they now stood in was a rare treasure—a place where they could escape the noise and live freely.
He turned to Mio, his voice soft but resolute. "Then let's make it our home. A place just for us and those close to us. The cultivator failed to have his loved one be with him, but I am sure he won't mind giving it to someone who has a big family."
Mio's face lit up with joy as she hugged his arm tightly. "I'm so happy, Danna-sama! This place... it'll be our sanctuary."

Yun Che grinned inwardly as the system's notification echoed in his mind, confirming their newfound control over the Profound Barrier. The place was now sealed and hidden from the outside world, perfectly protected under an illusionary veil. It was a sanctuary for them alone, untouched by prying eyes.

[Host can begin construction of your ideal home here.]

"Maybe later, system," Yun Che thought with a chuckle. For now, thoughts of construction and design could wait. He wanted to savor this moment—enjoy the serenity of the beautiful flower field, the peaceful lake, and the tree under which he and Mio rested.
He glanced at Mio, who was lying beside him, her head on his chest, eyes closed with a contented smile. The two of them could hear nothing but the sound of the breeze moving through the flowers and the distant crashing waves beyond the cliffs. It was a perfect scene, far from the chaos of the outside world.
"A treasured place indeed," Yun Che said with a soft smile, taking in the beauty of the flower field surrounding them. "He died protecting this sacred place, his meeting ground with his loved one. And now, he's given it to us to make it our home. The manor was tempting, but there are times I dream of building a place just for us. No titles, no heroism—just a normal family home."
Mio's eyes sparkled with mischief. "Ehe… a good place to raise our little spider hatchlings," she teased, watching his reaction.
Yun Che blushed, looking away as he chuckled nervously. "I didn't think that far yet."
"Ufuu, maybe 'we' did," Mio grinned, poking at his arm. "Ret-chan already has names in mind for her future kids. Even Nemu talks about wanting a daughter someday."
Yun Che blinked in surprise. "How much further have you girls gone in planning?"
Mio's grin widened. "Ufuu, women's imaginations run wild, Danna-sama. We think about 'a lot' of things, all the time."
He sighed in amusement, knowing he'd never fully understand the depths of their thoughts. Before he could say more, Mio tackled him playfully, and they fell gently into the soft field of flowers under the ancient tree. She hugged him close, snuggling into him as they both gazed up at the sky through the tree's branches, the poem from the mysterious cultivator echoing in their minds.
This treasure was unlike any other. No riches or powerful cultivation tools awaited them—just a sanctuary, a hidden paradise, dedicated to a love that transcended time. It wasn't material wealth but a place of peace, of beauty, and of quiet devotion. The man who created it had poured his love and loyalty into this space, a tribute to the one he cherished most. And now, Yun Che and Mio could feel that same love surrounding them.
They reflected on their journey—a supposed outing that had led them through so much more than they anticipated. From encountering Du Ming, to saving captive women at sea, finding and losing the Heaven's Mirror, and now arriving back at the starting point, only to find that the true treasure had been hidden under their noses all along.
It was a treasure of the heart—a sanctuary where their future could begin.
Mio and Yun Che exchanged glances, both coming to the same silent conclusion.
"Let's let Du Ming off the hook," Yun Che finally said with a small chuckle. Despite Du Ming's initial annoyance and the trouble he had caused, his actions had inadvertently led them to this hidden paradise. It was hard to stay mad after everything they had gained.
"Ufuu… agreed. He may have been a pest at first, but he gave us something far better than any treasure," Mio grinned. "A wonderful date."
Yun Che nodded, thinking back on the journey they had taken. "I do wonder who Du Ming had to beat to get his hands on that treasure map in the first place, though."
Mio shrugged playfully. "It doesn't matter anymore. We ended up with something far greater than any trinkets. This place is worth more than gold or jewels. Shame we had to see the Heaven's Mirror being dragged under the sea, but at least we got a future location for our home."
Yun Che smiled, knowing she was right. The hidden sanctuary, filled with beauty and peace, was a place they could call their own—something priceless in a world constantly filled with chaos and danger. They had found a home, not just a treasure.
"Quite a day off we had," Yun Che mused, looking at the beautiful, secluded paradise they had stumbled upon.
"Ufuu… this makes us even," Mio grinned, recalling that Yun Che's date with Retsu had led to the destruction of a sect, while hers had brought them to a peaceful, beautiful home for their future.
Yun Che chuckled. "I wonder what kind of date I can pull with Nemu or Little Yue…"
"Mouu… thinking about them while on a date with me?" Mio pouted, her eyes narrowing slightly as jealousy crept in.
"Sorry…" Yun Che grinned, realizing his mistake.
"I think you need to be punished…" Mio growled playfully, her eyes gleaming with mischief.
"Don't tell me—" Yun Che started, but before he could finish, Mio silenced him with a kiss, pulling him into their own little world. The peaceful flower field around them became the perfect setting for their romantic moment, sealing the day in the most unforgettable way.
In this hidden sanctuary, far from the rest of the world, it was just the two of them, sharing a love that was theirs alone. Unaware that a storm is brewing in the Imperial City.
