Chapter 6- Jonin

"Haruto, could you recommend me for jonin promotion?"

"Yeah, give me a couple of days and I'll bring it up to the Hokage."

"What? Not going to ask me why or anything else?"

"No, I've realized that you're strong enough during the chunin exam. The Hokage is probably thinking about it too."

Well, that was easy. There are no missions until he brings it up to the Hokage, so I trained and practiced until the day came. One morning I was called to training ground three. When I arrived there the Hokage, Danzo, and some jonin were there.

"Welcome Ryohei, there will be a fight between you and another jonin. If you beat them or impress them enough you have a chance at being a jonin. After that I'll have a council with the other jonin to see if you are ready to be promoted." Hiruzen says with a warm smile. He then calls forth an ANBU guard and has him face off against me.

We stand apart from each other no begin was called. We were to start when we want. A leaf slowly floats down. When it passes our eyes, we set off. Charging at each other engaging in taijutsu. Throwing a punch with my right hand towards his face he dodges it and grabs my arm pulling me forward and aiming at my side with his right hand. Blocking it with my left hand, I kick towards his mid-section and send him back.

He pulls out several kunai and uses [Fire Release: Phoenix Sage Fire Jutsu]. I use [Earth Release: Earth Wall] to block them and go underground shooting out in front of my wall and come face to face with him. Attacking with my sword and having an earth spike come from the other there's a little resistance then a log appears in his place. Looking around I see him slightly hurt from the earth spike.

Getting ready to attack again, the Hokage calls the match. He walks towards me while he gets someone to attend the injured ANBU.

"Great work Ryohei. With what you did today I'm sure you will be a great jonin. You'll have an answer later after the council. Where the-" He goes on about the will of fire, but I drown him out. I instead think my next plans. With being a 13-year-old jonin the Hokage won't let Danzo do as he pleases with me, so I now have some kind of backing. Best plan of action would be to take long solo missions and train outside of Konoha to reach Kage level strength. Can't do much in Konoha with Danzo still alive.

With HIruzen done spouting nonsense he leaves with everyone else. Before Danzo leaves, he gives me a squint-eyed look. This just confirms that I can't do much with him around. I could kill him after I become a kage level fighter, but that would mean I couldn't stay in Konoha. Being on the run from the best ninja village wouldn't be fun. With the massacre already passed he has not only Shisui Mangekyo but also a lot of Sharingan to use Izanagi. I'll just have to stay out of his way.

Receiving my jonin flak jacket I complete the quest, and a summoning scroll appears in my hand. Signing my name and pricking my finger, I summon the ravens. A flock appears and starts flying around me and into the air. 'I wonder if I can disperse into ravens like Itachi does with crows. Maybe use the ravens for substitution jutsu, maybe even raven clones.' I think with a little mirth. Canceling the summon, I now can do it through the system, meaning I don't need the scroll anymore unless I want someone else to have the same summons.

Going to find my old team, I find them at training ground 3.

"Hey guys" I greet my old team. Takashi and Tomomi turn to me ready to greet me back then stop in their tracks. They look at my jonin flak jacket with wide eyes and gasping mouths.

"Where did you get that from!" Takashi shouts at me while Tomomi eyes me after the initial shock.

"You didn't tell them Haruto-sensei?"

"No, thought it would be good as a surprise."

"What are y'all talking about? Where did he get the flak jacket?"

"Oh, I'm a jonin now." I state like it's no big deal.

"What!" They both shout at me.

"Yeah, just received the jacket and thought to come here and spread the good news. Maybe even treat everyone to barbeque."

"Sounds like a plan. Tells us the details." Takashi says sounding even more excited than me, and Haruto already walking that way.

After getting there I talk about the fight and Hiruzen. Takashi seems a little shocked while Tomomi and Haruto seem like it's normal. After buying them lunch and splitting ways I head back home to train. Once inside 2 figures appear.

"Come with us." One of the figures says. Most likely ROOT considering they look like ANBU with minor differences.

"Who are you and why are you impersonating ANBU. It's a crime with at the least going to prison for it." I say while pulling out my sword.

"We were sent by Danzo to escort you to him."

"Danzo doesn't have any subordinates."

The other starts to pull his sword out too but before he fully could I kill them both and stuff them in my Inventory. No blood was splashed around, and Danzo can't say he sent people here since ROOT is supposed to be disbanded. It doesn't make sense that he was there during the jonin fight. He isn't on the Hokage council anymore so maybe because he still is a strong fighter, maybe HIruzen has him on a tighter leash then canon?

With this action though Danzo is for sure one of my enemies.
