Chapter 41: Did You Make This Energy Cube?!

---

"Three o'clock in the afternoon, and the exam venue is at the Flame Gym?"

Hikaru sighed with relief as he left the Pokémon Alliance building.

He had almost resorted to making up an excuse—something about an old Pokemon giving birth—just to escape the crowd of fans swarming him for autographs.

But what surprised him was that the exam venue turned out to be the Flame Gym!

---

"It's almost lunchtime. Let's grab something to eat—I'm starving!" Yuki pouted adorably, looking at Hikaru with pleading eyes.

Finally, she had managed to get him out of his training bubble; it couldn't be for nothing, right?

In her philosophy, if you like someone, you should boldly pursue them.

Hikaru's stomach growled in agreement, and he noticed the same hunger mirrored in his Pokémon.

"Alright," Hikaru relented.

"I'll take you to a place with amazing food," Yuki said mischievously, pulling him along before he could object.

"Thanks for the trouble, senpai…" Hikaru replied, a bit wary.

---

Half an hour later…

Standing in front of the Frost Gym, Hikaru was dumbfounded.

The city of shuimu had four prominent gyms:

1. Flame Gym

2. Water Flow Gym

3. Frost Gym

4. Grass Grove Gym

Each gym specialized in a specific type.

But what did this gym have to do with lunch?

"I'm home, Mom!" Yuki called out cheerfully, snapping Hikaru out of his thoughts.

"Wait… What?" Hikaru turned to her, utterly confused.

Yuki smirked. "Didn't I mention? My mom's cooking is amazing!"

Hikaru stared at her in disbelief.

She stuck out her tongue playfully. "Come on!"

---

The cold air hit him like a wall as they entered the Frost Gym, causing Hikaru to shiver slightly. Inside, a winter wonderland unfolded before them. The gym floor was covered in snow, and trainers were practicing techniques with their Ice-type Pokémon amidst flurries of artificial snowflakes.

"Mom, we're back!" Yuki shouted.

A stunning woman emerged from the back, her presence commanding attention. She had a mature elegance, her silver hair tied in a short ponytail. Her fitted blouse and hot pants highlighted her curvaceous figure, resembling an older version of Yuki.

This was the gym leader of the Frost Gym, renowned for her Alolan Ninetales.

"Yuki? Who's this?" the woman asked, her gaze falling on Hikaru.

Caught off guard, Hikaru hurriedly greeted her. "Hello, ma'am."

Meanwhile, the gym's trainees had stopped their activities to gawk at the scene unfolding before them.

---

"Wait, is that Yuki? Did she just bring a guy home?"

"No way! I've been training here just to catch her attention!"

"Heartbroken... But hey, isn't that Hikaru? The guy who won this year's High School League?"

"Suddenly, this pairing makes so much sense!"

---

Hikaru felt like he had walked into a spotlight he didn't ask for.

Unbothered by the murmurs around them, Yuki clung to Hikaru's arm, leading him to the cozy quarters at the back of the gym. The trainees watched enviously as their "untouchable senpai" disappeared into the distance.

"Mom, we're starving! Feed us!" Yuki whined playfully, shedding her usual cool demeanor.

The Frost Gym leader sighed, clearly amused but also curious about Hikaru. "Alright, alright. You two wait here; I'll whip something up."

She led them to a private courtyard blanketed in snow. In one corner sat a majestic Alolan Ninetales, its fur as pure as fresh snow and its sapphire eyes glinting with intelligence.

Hikaru's trained eye assessed its power.

A Master-level Ninetales!

"Feel free to let your Pokémon out for some fresh air," the gym leader offered before retreating to the kitchen.

Hikaru released his three companions.

"Roar?"

"Fro?"

"Kirlia!"

The new environment immediately intrigued them, especially Frogadier, who had never seen snow before.

"Whoa, Ralts evolved!" Yuki exclaimed, marveling at the elegant Pokémon. She released her own Pokémon—a Braixen and an Alolan Vulpix.

Braixen's fiery fur and Alolan Vulpix's snowy coat made for a striking contrast as they joined the group.

Kirlia, however, remained aloof. It didn't seem to appreciate Yuki's admiration, possibly sensing her "threat" to Hikaru's attention.

Charmeleon, meanwhile, struggled to interact with the snow; its body heat caused it to melt instantly.

Braixen noticed and graciously taught Charmeleon how to control its body temperature, a skill critical for refining energy manipulation.

To Braixen's dismay, Charmeleon mastered the technique in just ten minutes—a feat that had taken Braixen over ten days to learn.

"Lunch is ready!" the gym leader called out.

As they moved inside, Hikaru brought out his homemade energy cubes, which his Pokémon eagerly devoured.

"Wow, did you buy those? They look so high-quality!" Yuki asked, intrigued.

"My mom's an advanced Pokémon caretaker, and she specializes in making energy cubes," she added with pride.

Before Hikaru could answer, the gym leader interjected, "Can I see one of those cubes?"

Her curiosity as an experienced caretaker was piqued.

"Just a little something I make myself," Hikaru said modestly, handing over a water-type energy cube.

The gym leader inspected it, her expression shifting from casual interest to genuine astonishment.

"You made this?"
