Chương 29: Meteoric Fall

Slagar hurriedly began to prepare a sacrificial ceremony of blood and bone. If he was going to make this work, he would need to sacrifice something in exchange for powering up the ritual. He took out a blood-bronze-colored dagger from his belt and stabbed it into his wrist.

*Grkh*

He muffled back his instinctive reaction to the pain and quickly pushed the dagger through his wrist entirely. Then he hurriedly bandaged his remaining stump and applied some quick healing medicine on his person. The wound sealed over within a few seconds, leaving a layer of tender scales in its place. He ignored the lightheadedness caused by the blood loss and set his hand in the center of a ritual circle.

He then made sure to mark the circle with symmetrical symbols and runes the Old Ones had derived to best make use of the 'Wild Warp' now that the Great Spirit was no longer suppressing its uses. He finished drawing all he needed in only 30 seconds, then he sat cross-legged near his cut of hand in the center.

"By the work of my hands, I make the future."

"With one hand I give, With the other I take."

"Hand of the Webweaver, given freely."

"And in due, recompense should be paid."

Slagar finished uttering the ritual sayings freely and his severed hand disappeared in a flash of crackling red warp lightning. He then fell into meditation and moved his astral body into orbit above the moon. He manifested his titan form around his astral body and landed on the largest piece of drifting debris from the Necron Tomb ship. Normally, he could not manage to manifest the titan form away from the Choran gland in his body, however, the effects of the ritual have allowed him to 'extend his reach' for a short limited time.

Slagar placed both his hands on the lifeless debris about 2 miles in diameter. Red lightning crackled around him and blazed from his ethereal titan's eyes. Then, the debris moved forward, entering into the atmosphere of the moon, and began to fall.

...

Gork and Mork had giant smiles on their faces and their eyes were alit with life more than ever before. Their excitement was practically overflowing just as the blood overflowed from the wounds on their bodies. In front of them, was a defeated Lynchguard and a powered-up Ozkan. Ozkan had attempted to transmogrify the two Korks into liquid to kill them, but the single effort he attempted had used too much energy for him to continue attempting it. Not only did Gork and Mork shrug it off but they laughed about how weak Ozkan was.

Since then, he had transmogrified his metallic components into a dense alloy that would normally only last for a few microseconds, due to its instability. This metal was a configuration that was more durable than anything known by the Necrons. It could survive entering a black hole of high density without any signs of breaking. Its only issue is that the universe naturally decayed metals of such high durability down into lesser ones. Often keeping this metal for only a few microseconds in existence.

The two Korks had since taken back their laughs about how 'weak' Ozkan was. No matter how hard they attacked him, his body would not bend, would not break. And as time went on, Gork and Mork were growing weaker. The fiery Wagh energy on them had burned away by more than 3/4ths to keep their souls from being eaten by Stardeath. In all this time, only 45 seconds had passed since Stardeath began eating.

As if sensing their approaching death, Gork and Mork both paused their attacks on Ozkan.

"Mork, this Git is right strong! Noth'in's work'in!" Gork commented.

"Gork, you never were Popz's favorite. You ain't big enough. And you ain't strong enough. Just watch me." Mork replied, taunting his brother.

"We're the same height!" Gork pointed at him in anger.

Mork smiled back smugly as if he had a secret only he knew and leaned his face forward tauntingly. Gork clenched his fist automatically because his brother was begging for a beating at this moment. But he stopped because something giant entered his vision from the clouds. The usual grey artificial clouds parted as a gigantic chunk of Necron tombship debris entered the atmosphere. It was heading straight for them.

On the top of the fiery hulking meteor of debris, was the form of titan Slagar, flickering in and out weakly. Red lightning arced across the ship, with his two palms planed face down onto it, guiding it towards them. The grey clouds swarmed Slagar's astral form, as if a shark smelled blood in water, and began to devour him. Slagar grunted one last time and sent a burst of red lightning charged through the ship, speeding its impact directly towards Stardeath, before returning to his body.

Ozkan followed Gork and Mork's line of sight to the falling debris above them and emotionlessly calculated the time until impact.

"Time until impact. 3 Seconds."

*SHOOP*

The Stardeath closed his open maw and turned to face the meteor of debris hurling at him at more than 1600 miles per hour, two times the speed of sound.

*CRACKLE BOOM*

The sound of breaking sound barriers rang as the atmosphere recoiled at its speed. He hurriedly opened his claw-like hand and manipulated his scepter. Purple-black energy pulsed out from him and he made a gripping motion with his hand, attempting to stop the impact completely.

Space twisted and the world cried out as his grip tightened around the impromptu meteor. His clenched claw, shredded the 2-mile-long debris like paper, causing the space it resided in to fold on itself and bend. The debris shattered into pieces before it impacted, causing a shotgun-like attack on the moon's crust.

*TCHSS* *TCHSS* *TCHSS*

*TCHSS* *TCHSS*

*TCHSS* *TCHSS* *TCHSS*

The shrapnel-like smaller chunks avoided Stardeath's area completely and impacted the areas around it. Large mushroom clouds bloomed in the distance as the dust settled from the impact. However, Slagar's goal had been achieved already.

*BOOM*

A small shard of debris, amplified by Slagar to be much faster than the rest, impacted the Necron Tesseract Vault near the monolith, exploiting the temporary drain on the power of the facilities due to Stardeath's display to slip past the shielding. The resulting explosion was gratifying to behold.

Slagar stood up from his sitting position and cracked his lizardy neck, feeling much more comfortable now that the warp-suppressing technology on this moon was disabled.

"Disable the Necron Tesseract Vault, Check."

"Turn the tide of the ground assault, Check."

"Save the Korks for questioning, Ongoing."

"Capture or Kill the C'tan Stardeath, Ongoing."

Slagar muttered to himself.

"It only cost me an arm. Thankfully my leg was not needed." Slagar joked.
