Decades into the War between the Necrontyr Empire and the Old Ones.
Planet Aaron, Jericho Reach, Legion of Rahkoz of the Suhbekhar Dynasty
A gigantic Cairn-class Tomb Ship was deployed above a tomb world of a planet called Aaron. It was shaped like a half-moon and stretched 15 kilometers across. Ships like these would later become a hallmark of impending doom to their enemies when they arrived in the far future. But at the moment, the technology was far lacking compared to later.
This ship was followed by three other Scythe-class Harvest Ships to support it during deep space combat. The weapons of the Necrontyr are a form of gauze weapon, made from mimicking the green poisonous radiation of the sun of their homeworld. As such, most of their ships were equipped with these weapons.
Many other ships flew in formation alongside these large 4 ships, acting as members of the legion of Rahkoz, a well-reputed member of the Royal Court of the Suhbekhar. Since the Necrontyr had set out to scout out potential planets for their race and a solution to end their suffering, the majority of Necrontyr forces were spread from between the outer fringes of the galaxy; Between the Jericho Reach and Halo Stars Region.
Rahkoz is highly ranked in seniority among the Royal Court, only two levels below the Triarch and the Silent King himself, and as such he had his own legion under him, supplied from the various tomb worlds surviving in the Jericho Reach.
Since the declaration of war of the Necrontyr to the Old Ones, they have yet to advance into enemy territory and were put on a constant defense for their own regions. During this time, the Necrontyr hatred of the Old Ones had festered far beyond a reconcilable account. If at one point the Necrontyr thought that they might be in the wrong when starting this war, now they only felt fully justified in their actions.
They had learned about the complete disregard of the Old Ones for themselves during all their years of struggle and used the conflict with the Old Ones as a way to project all the suffering they had faced onto a physical enemy in front of them. The Necrontyr needed to hate the Old Ones. They had seen hope of their salvation, and it was denied to them. They needed the hatred to drive them forward and give them hope, that one day they might conquer their own constant suffering.
This is why, despite knowing they would lose a war with the Old Ones, they still continued to fight with futile desperation. Somehow, the years had merged the hatred of the Old Ones into the Necrontyr culture of hoping for salvation from their suffering. It's hard to say if this tortured humanoid race, is truly in the wrong. They just want to survive.
Rahkoz was the last remaining legion in the Jericho Region, surrounding the last remaining planet inhabited by the Necrontyr in the region. The Old Ones had pushed the Necrontyr further and further back until their home Halo Stars Region was basically all they had. The war had devolved from large-scale threats to planets for the Old Ones into mere skirmishes at the outer fringes of the galaxy.
"Report," Rahkoz commanded.
"Immaterium fluctuations increasing, Old One Fleet imminent arrival." An officer answered.
The sounds of hymns rang out as the sounds of the Immaterium leaked into the Immaterium universe around them. Soon the veil was peeled back and an Old One legion came into view in front of them. A large Unveil-Class capital ship stood at the front, a terror to the battlefield as the Necrontyr learned from first-hand experience. Not so from any weapons of mass destruction that were built into the ship, but because of the Honored Ones who resided within them.
"Begin tactic plan 42-B, prioritize their warp engines," Rahkoz said quickly.
Necrontyr fighters flew out from the 4 command tomb ships and swarmed toward the Old One capital ship with overwhelming hostility. Green beams of the gauze weapons lit up the void of space, from the Necrontyr fighters and command ships. At the same time, the Old One capital ship returned fire, with its own onboard weapons. Throwing out rail-like blasts of warp lightning and warp fire channeled from the psykers onboard. While large shields deflected most of the gaze blasts from the Necrontyr attacks.
But this did not deter the Necrontyr forces, some of them even forced the fighters to suicide bomb near the shields and overload the ship's engine to leak radiation. This was done because the green radiation of their sun was learned to be so corrosive that it could affect even the Old Ones, minus the Honored Ones among them.
"Fire the Star Pulse generator" Rahkoz commanded.
The Cairn-class Tomb Ship Rahkoz was on and started to charge the newly developed weapon of the Necrontyr. The entire ship fluctuated slightly from the draw of power and finished charging after ten seconds of time. Then a low hum spread throughout the battlefield, like a loud bass, and a green pulse of poisonous radiation shot out like a shockwave from the ship.
*WRR BEUMMM*
The pulse of energy was made to mimic the natural radiation caused by the collapse of a star, rendering a huge amount of penetration power to most non-Necrontyr systems. The pulse passed through all of the Necrontyr forces without any harm, but when it reached the Old One's fleet it caused significant damage.
Most of the Old One's fleet immediately lost any form of shields, and the crew of the ships were overwhelmed with sick nausea caused by radiation poisoning. They left an immediate gap in both the fleet's defenses and offenses since the Old One's technology is mostly operated by psykers.
His expression was serious when he realized their big gun had not managed to incapacitate the most important target on the battlefield. The Immateirum's hymns seemed to grow louder in his ears as he saw a large 35-meter-tall titanic silhouette begin to form on top of the capital class ship, its hands clasped full of warp lightning.
*Slam*
"Retreat," Rahkoz commanded, coldly.
'Your loss is only a matter of time.' Rahkoz watched with an empty gaze while watching the warp lightning from the titan obliterate Necrontyr fighters and two of the Scythe-class Harvest Ships.
