Chương 19: Killing the nightwalker
"It's gone" Arthur said to a slightly terrified Tom
"It followed me till now, even appearing in my dreams. Thank god I had my sharingan" Arthur said while touching his eyes
"That nightwalker was at least at the 8th level of innate realm.. " Tom fell into deep thought
"That's why no monsters were attacking us! it was because the nightwalker was stalking us and scaring them away, not because of your sharingan's aura! " Tom exclaimed in realization.
"Seems like it " Arthur nodded
"So what's the plan? " Tom asked "The holy lake is far away so going back will require atleast 4 days of non stop travel"
"We will fight" Arthur said solemnly
"Are you crazy? that's a nightwalker which had the darkness attribute! we couldn't even sense its presence even with your sharingan! let alone the fact that he is of the innate realm!!! " Tom stated, his voice full of concern
"Do you have a better plan? " Arthur asked
to which Tom didn't reply.
"I once told you to draw the line between cowardness and recklessness... looks like it is my time to draw that line" saying that Arthur closed his eyes and meditated, seeing Arthur deep in meditation, Tom also started practicing his water cultivation arts.
The sunlight slowly seep through the cave, the darkness attribute of the nightwalker was so strong that it completely obstructed the light from entering the cave in its presence.
Tonight, the final battle will take place. It's time to decide who is the hunter and who is the one being hunted.
Inside Arthur's mind:
'System, open encyclopedia' Arthur ordered
*opening* the system robotic voice answered
'Tell me how can I defeat a nightwalker in my current realm! '
*Nightwalkers are impervious to physical damage so the best chance that the host have is to use pure weapons of the light attribute*
Hearing that, Arthur immediately opened the system shop.
He checked the system shop and the cheapest pure weapons he could find of the light attributes were priced at 2100 pts!
'There goes my savings.. ' Arthur thought while trading his hard earned points for two pure weapons, he was originally about to upgrade his sharingan to 3 tomoe after earning 3000 more pts but, oh well.
*Two Pure weapons acquired!
Holy javelin: made out of purely light qi, discharges enormous amounts of pure light qi when the opponents are impaled by it.
! One time use only!
Light explosion grenade: cause immense explosion of holy light qi that will cover the entire sky.

'What the fck? all that pts for 1 time use!? ' Arthur cursed but soon calmed down
'Calm down Arthur, Since it is purely made out of holy light qi then it make sense that it disperse after one attack but..what if I miss?'
Arthur shook his head 'I can't miss! '
After that Arthur bought some light qi potions, light qi water, light qi bulbs and talismans
*Light qi potions: temporarily turns your every attack into light qi attacks( effect will be diminished for opponents stronger than 5th stage of foundation establishment realm)
Light qi talisman: Shoot out a blinding light qi that temporarily stuns demons and monsters.
Light qi water: spraying it deters dark attribute monsters
Light qi bulb: Produces light qi which illuminates the thickest of darkness.

'The other items can annoy it for a bit whereas my only killing cards are my one time use pure weapons, holy javelin and light explosion grenade' Arthur thought and stood up.
Tom was still meditating , a dim golden light was covering his entire body. This was his water cultivation arts which upgraded after attaining slight holy light attribute.
'Time to set up the stage' Arthur thought while he sprinkled light qi water around the cave , stick the talismans on the walls and finally hang up the multiple light qi bulbs on the wall.
"Tom" arthur woke Tom up from his meditation "Do as I say-" arthur explained his plan.
"This is a risky plan" Tom warned
"No doubt" Arthur smiled
Seeing Arthur's reaction, Tom sighed and took out a potion from his pocket and gave it to Arthur.
"What is this? " Arthur asked
"Pure holy water, extremely dangerous for monsters with dark attribute. The reason why the nightwalker didn't attack us near the holy lake was because the lake was full of pure holy water which are even more potent than holy light water. It can immediately cripple and kill them if they ingest this, tho I doubt shoving it into his mouth will be easy" Tom laughed.
"No you take it" Arthur refused
"But-" Tom tried to argue but Arthur cut him off."I am loaded with holy weapons so I don't require it, you can use it on the nightwalker when I give you the signal"
after a brief hesitation, Tom agreed
"Ok fine"
Night time at 12 PM
The air inside the cave suddenly became chilly, arthur and tom could see their own breaths condensating. Suddenly the light bulbs started flickering and eventually went out.
*Whooooooosh* a cold wind entered the cave and brought multiple corpses of grey wolves and other monsters inside the cave.
Tom looked below his feet but the circle was no longer present
"Here he comes" said Arthur while pulling out his sword crackling with lightning, tom also started releasing golden light from his sword but the cave didn't lit up at all, as if the darkness was consuming the light.
*Kekekeke shhhhhh* laughter rang throughout the cave
"You didn't think that these little light qi water will stop me , did you? " an eerie voice whispered besides Arthur's ear
*Swing* arthur swung his sword but all it slashed was empty air
"Too slow" the monster laughed from a distance
Arthur looked at tom and nodded
Tom immediately understood and plunge his sword into the ground " Holy Water arts: Ocean waves! " Tom shouted and the cave was soon overflowed with dimly lit yellow water
*Kekekeke* the monster laughed "Is that supposed to be a holy lake? now it's my turn to attack isn't it!? " the monster declared
The flickering yellow light of the holy water also vanished as only true darkness descended upon the duo.
The nightwalker brandished it's scythe and aimed it at Arthur's neck.
*Slick* a scythe slash through Arthur's neck but instead of blood, arthur exploded into white smoke
"What-" the monster couldn't even finished his words before a blinding light engulfed him
"What is this!? " the nightwalker bellowed as he wasn't able to move, the light restricted his movements
Arthur had activated the talisman which binded the monster although only for a second but a second was all he requires
Arthur took out the holy javelin from his inventory and suddenly the 2 mile radius around the cave was engulfed with the powerful holy light.
"Now's the time! " arthur shouted and activated God speed, he vanished and appeared in front of the nightwalker and thrust the javelin at nightwalker's heart.
*Thump*
"?! " Arthur was dumbstruck because the javelin wasn't piercing the nightwalker's skin!
"What!? " arthur refused to give in and thrusted with all his strength, Tom also attacked the nightwalker with his light sword from behind.
*Chhhhhhhiiiiiiiiiing*
The sound produced by the collision was ear piercing and the holy light blinded the entire cave but the javelin wasn't piercing through the nightwalker's skin
Arthur's sharingan spun rapidly to cast a genjutsu on the monster but all he saw was the nightwalker's hollow eyes smiling at him.
whispering " time is up " and slowly fading away.
Seeing it running away, Arthur threw caution to the wind and released all of the holy light inside the javelin in the form of a big explosion!
*BOOOOM!!! *
The holy light exploded, destroying the cave and half of the mountain, the ground crumbled and the mountain was carved.
The holy light blinded several miles of the forest
*Boom* *Boom* *Boom*
Countless pieces of rubbles fell from the sky like meteorites creating mini explosions but luckily none of them hit Arthur and Tom.
*Ugh* Arthur woke up slightly dizzy but otherwise unharmed, Tom also stood up with some slight injuries.
"Is it over? " Tom asked to which Arthur didn't reply
"You bastards! " a shadowy figure crawled out from underground, a 100 feet away from the duo
"You tenacious insect! " Tom cursed clearly influenced by Arthur
"Kekekekeke!!! YOU DARE CALL ME AN INSECT!!! " the monster laughed and clapped both of his hands together.
Green light started glowing underground, slowly hundreds of dead monsters were emerging from the ground.
"WHAT DO YOU SAY NOW INSECTS!!! " Dark green aura started frantically revolving around the nightwalker
"Zombie! " Arthur exclaimed
"Necromancy! " Tom exclaimed
"It is about to break through to the golden core realm!!! " Tom stated in horror.
"Don't falter! it is already weakend due to the explosion and it still hasn't reached the golden core realm yet! " Arthur shouted while grabbing his sword. "We have to stop him before he breaks through"
Tom nodded and plunged his sword underground: "Holy ocean waves! "
The nightwalker also shouted "Forward!!! "
Hundreds of zombie monsters were rushing towards Arthur and Tom but before they reached them, they were swept up by a massive golden tsunami.
"Lightning discharge!!! " Arthur also plunged his sword underground and released yellow lightning, this was a move he copied and modified from Tom's ocean waves!
Lightning and the tsunami combined lay waste to hundreds of zombie monsters but they still keep coming up from underground.
"Its endless!!! We have to defeat the nightwalker first! " Tom shouted and Arthur immediately flashed towards the nightwalkers while Tom hold the zombies at bay.
"GODSPEED! " Arthur vanished from his place leaving a lightning trail.
"Do you think that i am afraid of a direct confrontation! " the nightwalker shouted and also vanished from its place leaving a shadowy trail behind.
*CLANG*
*ZZZZ*
*FZHHHH*
The two figure clashed at hypersonic speed leaving the ground and the trees destroyed whenever their sword and scythe collided,
Arthur was being pushed back each clash and his lightning was constantly being drained by the dark attribute scythe.
"Is this all you got!? " the nightwalker smiled maliciously as he slashed his scythe towards Arthur at full force, Arthur also swung his nameless sword to parry that attack.
*BOOOOM*
lightning and fire crackled destroying the ground beneath and their surroundings but alas at the crux of their collision, Arthur's nameless sword snapped in half!
*Snap*
The scythe cut through Arthur's sword and he barely dodged the scythe aimed at his head
The lightning around Arthur disappeared since his sword was broken and his speed dramatically decreased, Arthur jumped back to retreat but the nightwalker instantly caught him by his neck.
"Looks like you are done for! " The nightwalker remarked while opening it's abyssal mouth and multiple rope like structure started grabbing onto Arthur.
Seeing this, Arthur immediately started weaving hand seals, "FIRE STYLE : FIREBALL JUTSU!!! " Arthur fired his fireball at the nightwalker's face from point blank! but the nightwalker's abyssal mouth just sucked in the fireball leaving nothing behind!
"Is that it? " the nightwalker mocked and the black ropes started coiling around Arthur
"Didn't I tell you? I am your end! " the nightwalker smiled.
Seeing the situation, Tom immediately rushed towards the nightwalker and swung his holy light attribute sword towards the nightwalker's head, the night Walker casually deflected it and used his other hand to grab Tom by his neck. The nightwalker lifted both of them up by their necks, strangling them.
He looked into Arthur's red eyes and laughed
"No longer a cub was it!? " the nightwalker mocked when Arthur again performed hand seals, "FIRE STYLE: FIREBALL JUTSU!!! "
"POINTLESS!!! " nightwalker grinned and sucked in the fireball.
*Puke*
the nightwalker suddenly started puking green blood.
"What!?? " the nightwalker asked in a weak tone and looked towards Arthur in his hand, his blurry vision suddenly started shaking and Arthur's figure changed into Tom!
'An illusion!? ' the nightwalker stumbled down and roared "What did you feed me!? "
"Pure holy water" Arthur said while slowly walking towards the nightwalker like a grim reaper.
"Pure holy water!! " the nightwalker face ashen, all his strength seep through him and he could barely move
"There's no way a dark attribute monster like you can survive after ingesting pure holy water" Arthur declared while slowly pulling out the light explosion grenade from his inventory , he picked up the nightwalker by his neck.
"You already lost when you looked into my eyes " Arthur declared " And i am not a cub, I am a lion that is hunting a mere nightwalker" After stating that arrogantly, he shoved the light explosion grenade inside the nightwalker's mouth and walked out of the battle ground while carrying Tom on his shoulder.
After a while,
*BOOOOOOM*
The forest shook and the holy light illuminated the vast forest for tens of miles
Not even the ashes of the nightwalker remained
