“Lucy! Lucy, open this door or I will break it down!” a voice shouted. “Lucy! This is a code red emergency in my life!”
My legs took me to the front door at a zombified pace. My eyes were barely open, but I knew the voice on the other side of the door. Only Jasper Hale could scream that loud when it’s barely light outside.
“You better have a good reason for showing up at my house at—” I said, checking the time on the stove. “Six in the morning!”
“One, I need your hangover cure, because my head is pounding against my skull,” Jasper said.
“Rule number one: stop screaming so you don’t give me a headache too,” I pleaded.
I half sleep-walked into the kitchen to make Jasper a hangover cure. It’s not really a cure, but he loves these smoothies. He claims they take away any headaches.
He took a seat on a stool, resting his head on his arms. I swatted his head to keep him awake, “If I don’t get to go back to sleep, then neither do you. What’s your code red emergency?”
