Chương 659: Giant Brawl
*SNAP!*
Yet another of Mikasa's blades snap, leaving her with a single one left, she panted but took another step forward anyway, deciding that offence would serve her better than any defence she could raise.
*CHK!*
*PSSSHHHHHH!*
The sound of three separate 3D manoeuvre gears sounds out behind her, allowing Mikasa to relax slightly as reinforcements arrive.
"Ackerman." Annie drawls as she arrives skidding to a stop, Rainer and Bertholdt stopping near or next to her.
"Need help?" Rainer questions despite the obvious answer.
Mikasa gives a reluctant nod, "Be careful, she's not human..." she states while gesturing her only blade left at Saeko, who shrugs in response.
"If this is your reinforcements, you'll need to try a lot harder." Saeko states before sniffing the air slightly, "Hm? Speaking of 'Not-quiet-human', you three have a peculiar scent." she adds, causing the three secret titan-shifters to tense.
Mikasa, obviously, notices this, glancing between her friends and the woman, "What do you mean?"
"So you don't know?" Saeko hums and casually sheathes Kakonoitami into its scabbard. Once it clicks into place-
*Slik!*
Large gashes appear on the wrists of the three new arrivals, causing them to drop their weapons in surprise, unable to retain their grip due to their tendons being cut.
All of them except Bertholdt retain their composure, the latter stepping back in shock and unintentionally calling upon his healing factor, causing his wound to steam and quickly heal. Annie and Rainer watch on with wide eyes, realising that Mikasa had witnessed this...
"W-what...?"
Rainer wets his slips and points his unhealed, crippled hand at Bertholdt, "What was that!? Bertholdt! Tell me what the hell that was!?" he exclaims, causing the nervous titan-shifter to gape at his friend.
Annie nods, trying to project a look of fear despite her usually implacable expression. "Bertholdt..."
"Good act, I might have believed you if you didn't smell almost exactly like him..." Saeko remarks, "My boyfriend told me about you all..." she gestures a hand at Mikasa, "Mikasa Ackerman, one of the last members of the Ackerman bloodline and with the potential to be one of the strongest warriors around..."
She turns to Rainer, "Rainer, Annie, and Bertholdt, three titan-shifters sent by Marley to find the Coordinate. Hear that Mikasa? These are the ones responsible for the breach of Wall Maria and the death of your foster parents."
"You're lying! She's trying to fool you!" Rainer exclaims while Bertholdt panics and Annie stares lifelessly at the floor, a hint of despair clear in her eyes.
Mikasa swallows, "And what was that with Bertholdt earlier then...? How did he heal? And why did it look so much like a titan healing...?"
"Mikasa, you can't really believe this woman? She's a stranger? She was trying to kill you earlier!" Rainer presses, losing hope for the situation.
Mikasa shakes her head, "She could have killed me before I even met her..." she turns her back towards Saeko and raises her weapon towards the trio, "Tell me, is it the truth!?"
...
Mikasa grinds her teeth at the lack of response, concluding that to be answer enough. "How could you? We trained together for years! And it was all a lie!?"
...
"Pathetic, if you've already killed so many you should at least be honest about it." Saeko says, taking her place beside Mikasa who barely twitches at her presence.
...
"I'm sorry, but we do what we have to." Annie finally speaks up, stepping back towards the edge of the roof. She looks to Bertholdt and Rainer, "Go, I'll deal with them both..."
"Wait, but-" Bertholdt reaches out just as Annie jumps off backwards and bites her hand.
*CRAASH!*
A huge towering form appears after a lightning bolt strikes the ground, the figure slowly standing to its full height while peering down on the rooftop. Its blonde hair and identical haircut made it obvious that it was Annie, but that didn't make it any easier for Mikasa to swallow.
Bertholdt and Rainer instantly bolted as they occurs, both flying away via their 3D manoeuvre gear.
"It's about time!" Saeko exclaims, grabbing Mikasa who'd been stunned still and pulling her away from Annie's descending fist.
They escape and the building completely collapses under the weight of the female titan's attack, they're forced to keep moving however as she continues her onslaught.
"Get moving!" Saeko commands as she throws Mikasa away and draws Samehada from her back. The bandages around the large weapon unfurl and reveal its shark-like skin, when fresh air hits it the thing coils in preparation to attack. "You listen to me and I might let you try eat that thing. Understand?" she tells the sword, and it mentally sends her its acknowledgement in response.
*CRAASH!*
Saeko slaps away Annie's next punch with Samehada, the blade shredding the titan's flesh as if it were caught in a blender. Surprised by this, Annie begins hardening her skin in response, preventing the swordswoman from so easily destroying her limbs.
*PPSHHU!*
Mikasa comes spinning from a nearby building towards Annie's exposed nape, forcing the female titan to guard it with a hardened hand, leaving her with only one limb to fight Saeko off with.
Saeko tries leaping up to towards Annie's face, but the titan unleashes a devastating kick towards her, she blocks it with Samehada but it sends her flying through the city. She collides with a sloped rooftop but manages to jam Samehada into another's tiles to quickly slow her momentum, allowing her to get right back into the fight.
All the while, Mikasa was trying to pry Annie's hardened hand away from her neck with her sole remaining blade... Annie uses the time free from Saeko to swat her like a bug, but Mikasa easily disengages and lands on a nearby rooftop, waiting for her unlikely partner to return.
Unfortunately for the female titan, the lack of titans coming in from outside Trost had allowed them to recover their senses... And almost every single soldier could see the single titan trying to kill their fellows...
