Chương 8: Not safe part 1
While Andrea and Amy where fishing Andrea kept glancing over at Amy, she noticed this and was mildly annoyed. Her sister always had something to say but Amy decided not to say anything about the looks. Until she saw her side glance at her again and she finally bit the bullet.
Amy : "What?" she says annoyed.
Andrea : "Nothing."
Amy : "It's not nothing. It's always something."
Andrea : "Didn't dad teach you to tie nail knots?" she said genuinely confused.
Amy : "Why would he do that? He only ever used a fisherman's knot. One know." she says finally looking over at Andrea.
Andrea : "No, He didn't. No he tied at least three."
Amy : "Clinch knots?" No way."
Andrea : "Fine, I'm making it up."
There is silence for a while, but something is bugging Andrea she knew her dad taught a certain way, so why did her sister think something totally different it didn't make any sense.
Andrea : "Did da teach you mostly dry lures?
Amy : "Yeah. You?"
Andrea : "Wet."
Amy : "You're kidding. But he was always so adamant. I mean, you know dad on the fishing thing."
Andrea : "Gee, you think? I only spent my entire childhood with my ass in a boat. But in my day it was all about getting the hook seated. We were fishing for the dinner table."
Amy : "Not us. We always threw them back. Always."
Andrea : "I guess he changed things up."
Amy : "But that'd be like changing his religion or something."
Andrea : "People change. It's not his fault we were born 12 years apart."
Amy : "No. No, Because the minute you went off to college it was my ass in that boat and he taught me dry lures from day one. This was not behavior developed over time."
Andrea : "You think he did it for us?"
Amy : "Because he knew we were so different. He knew that you needed to catch the fish and I needed to throw them back. She says tearing up.
Andrea : "All right, remember his rule: No crying in the boat. It scares the fish."
Amy : "Mom and Dad - - I mean, Maybe Florida wasn't hit so bad. Maybe it's better there. Do you think?" she says with vulnerability and sadness in her voice.
Andrea : "I think you have a bite. Even with the wrong knots." she says sniffling wiping the tears from her face.
Amy : "Oh god. So much for the no crying rule." she says sniffling wiping her face off.
Andrea : "I think that was more for dad than the fish." she says smiling.
Andrea and Amy walk back into camp with at least two dozen fish. Morales see's the fish and he is exited his family is going to get to eat that night, The others see the fish and are surprised they caught that many. They all say their thanks for the food that they are going to cook later.
As they were having their fun talking about fishing and things dale comes and he looks worried he begins to speak.
Dale : "I don't want to alarm anyone, But we may have a bit of a problem."
He says genuinely concerned as he points toward Jim digging holes nonstop. Shane stands up and heads over to where Jim was, followed by everyone else who was there. They get there and they see Jim just drilling the shovel into the ground, they all stayed silent till Shane finally spoke up.
Shane : "hey, Jim. Jim, Why don't you hold up, All right? Just give me a second here please."
Jim : "What do you want?"
Shane : "We're all just a little concerned, That's all,"
Morales : "Dale said you've been out here for hours."
Jim : "So."
Shane : "So why are you digging? are you heading to china, Jim?"
Jim : "What does it matter? I'm not hurting anyone.""
Dale : "Yeah, Except maybe yourself. it's 100 Degrees today. You cant keep this up."
Jim : "Sure I can. Watch me."
Lori : "Jim, They're not gonna say it so I will You're scaring people. You're scaring my son's and carol's daughter."
Zane shook his head at this he wasn't scaring him "he was just digging jeez why can't she leave me out of some of the things she says." he thinks.
Jim : "They got nothing to be scared of. I mean, what the hell, people? I'm out here by myself. Why don't you all just go and leave me the hell alone?"
Shane : "We think that you need to take break, Okay? Why don't you go and get yourself in the shade? Get some food I'll tell you what, Maybe in a little bit I'll come out here. I'll help you myself. Jim, just tell me what it's about. Why don't you just go ahead and give me the shovel?"
He says moving closer trying to convey his point. Jim finally look's at him. he says
Jim : "Or what?"
Shane : "There is no or what. I'm asking you. I'm coming to you and I'm asking you, please. I don't want to have to take it from you."
Jim : "And if I don't, Then what? Then you're gonna beat my face in like ED PELETIER, Aren't you? Y'all seen his face, huh? what's left of it. See, now that's what happens when someone crosses you."
Shane : "That was different Jim."
Amy : "You weren't there. Ed was out of control. He was hurting his wife."
Jim : "That is their marriage. That is not his. He is not judge and jury. Who voted you king boss, Huh?"
Shane : "Jim I'm not here to argue with you, all right? Just give me the shovel, Okay?"
He says while reaching for the shovel, Jim pulls back his hand.
Jim : "NO NO NO."
Shane : "Just give me the - - JIM?"
Shane is trying to grab the shovel, Jim pushes Shane back and ready's himself to hit him with the shovel. Shane goes towards him and Jim swings the shovel at him, He dodges and tackles Jim to the ground.
Shane : "Stop. Shh."
Jim : "You got no right!"
Shane starts putting cuffs on him telling him everything's gonna be ok. And Jim just tells him that's a lie as he told his wife and two boys the same thing before they got eaten in front of him
After that all happened and Zane heard what happened to Jim's family, He decided to go to his tent to sleep and think about some things. He laid down on the tent floor thinking that could've been me who had gotten eaten at the school, Even yesterday I need a weapon a knife a katana I trained for this stuff he think's to himself.
As he's thinking he falls asleep. in his dream he see's his Dad, Mom, Carl, and Shane. They were all getting swarmed and eaten alive he rushed to save them but he was staying in the same place. Then he was suddenly hurled towards his mother she was screaming and was calling for her family but he couldn't move.
He was then hurled towards his father who was pinned by a dozen walkers, he screamed at Zane that it was his fault and he killed his family he killed them all. Suddenly he was with Shane he looked at Zane as he was getting eaten he didn't say anything he just looked at him disgusted.
Next thing he knew when he opened his eyes was Carl was there on the floor with a bite on his neck, He had a gun pointed at his brothers head. Carl screamed at Zane to do it but Zane teared up he was confused what the hell was going on, Carl yelled out furiously.
Carl : "WAKE UP!"
Zane opened his eyes to see a walker inches away from biting his leg. He moved his leg out out of the way and rolled back on his feet, he kicked the zombie in the knee making it fall on its face. He stomped it out again and again until it head was mushed.
He heard screams and when he left the tent he seen the whole camp was getting attacked by a gang of walkers, this didn't make any sense first the walker that attacked Carl and now a whole flock of them what were they gonna do he thought. As he had that thought something grabbed his shoulder.
