Chương 35: A Day in the Mall (Part 3)
Almost there! We almost made it, luckily mommy Rumi is currently distracting them! We can make it to the exit, we all will be safe and sound the moment we step out of the door!
"Hello, ladies, can I ask for some minutes of your time?!"
Suddenly I heard the voice of an unfamiliar person behind us. He was fast, very fast in the blink of an eye he reached our position. I saw how he was about to capture Kanna, but Yuiko used her quirk to switch places, to prevent anything that could happen to her childhood friend...

"Hey, Mirko! I think we might have a problem."
"What do you mean, Lotus? We cleaned the complete building from the villains!"
Lotus and Mirko were currently sitting on a pile of unconscious bodies, leaning against each other's back. You could still hear the occasional grunt from the pile if you were near the vicinity.
"We might have done that, but I got a message from the chief officer outside, looks like the leader of this group managed to grab some hostages and is currently threatening the death of them if we don't comply to his demands, the hostages are a group of young girls."
Hearing this Mirko gulped.
"Is it Akanes' group of friends?"
Lotus just nodded.
"Sadly, it's them."

Dammit! We were almost there! We almost made it! But that guy came out of nowhere and now I am captured!
HNNGG! That guy is choking me! It damn hurt! At least this isn't happening to Kanna! I wouldn't be able to forgive myself, if something like this happened to her. I still didn't properly repay my debt!
"Little lass, listen, you just have to cooperate and you and your friends are going to get out of this safely, if not..."
I felt heat slowly rising on my neck, at first it was just warm, but it got hotter and hotter until it hurt. At some point I started to scream.
"You know what is going to happen, now. Are you going to obediently play hostage?"
After saying that I looked him into the face. I spat on it.
"Go fuck yourself. The heroes are going to apprehend you and then you are in a world of trouble!"
He swiped the spit down from his face and looked at the hand he used to swipe down the spit for a moment. Silence, nothing came from him, he literally didn't move a bit. For a moment I thought he was going to do nothing about it, until he slammed my head into the ground.
I almost lost my consciousness at that moment.
"Lass, I don't need your consent for something like this. Just know that after I get away with this you'll die, alongside your friends. Be thankful to your friend, because of her you are closer to your death than you think! It's time for me to show the how useless heroes are, that society almost treat like gods! I'll show them all what the true god is!"
He dragged my body up again, walking out of the entrance, I could hear loud alarms and sirens blaring.
I guess we are outside now, and my friends are in trouble alongside with me. I just thought that this was going to be a happy relaxing day, but now I am here. Barely hanging in there. Today was a shitty day for me.

I stood there silently. I didn't really know what to do. Yuiko was being held in the hands of this guy and there wasn't much I and or the other girls could do.
"Girls, let's walk away. It's too late for Yuiko and that guy is currently not paying attention. We can directly walk down into safety and he won't even know about it."
The three girls looked at me in horror, they couldn't believe what they just heard.
"Akane, I heard wrong, right? You just didn't tell us to abandon Yuiko, right?"
I shook my head.
"No, Kanna, I really just suggested to abandon..."
I couldn't end my sentence, Kanna interrupted it by slapping me across my face, really hard.
"You know, I can't believe that someone is able to slap their palm bloody, Kanna."
"AND I CAN'T BELIEVE WHAT YOU JUST SUGGESTED! WE CAN'T JUST ABANDON ONE OF OUR FRIENDS!"
"DO YOU THINK I AM DOING THIS WILLINGLY?! Look, I tried getting us all out of here, but that clearly failed, I might sound cold and harsh, but I can't do much for Yuiko anymore. But you three are a different thing, I can still bring you back to your parents safe and sound. So please, cooperate with me and let's just go away from that maniac. Please..."
I saw that Kanna was very conflicted with this situation, she shook her head before she looked me in the face again.
"If you want, you can go with Akita and Touko back down, but I'll stay here with her. Yuiko is something very important to me and I want to be there for her, always."
She looked at me with very resolved eyes, I couldn't help but shake my head and sigh.
"What? Are you making fun of me and my resolve? Just because you have nobody that is so precious to ..."
"Are you stupid? Do you even realize what Yuiko did for you? She traded places with you. You were about to get taken as a hostage by that guy there, but Yuiko used her quirk and switched places with you, to safe you. Now? You were about to spit on her resolve like it's nothing. I don't care what you think about me now, but I am sure that she wanted you to be safe, I am sure she wanted that you got away, at least more than her own survival instincts told her not to do it. She pushed you out of the wolfs den, letting herself fall in instead of you and now you are about to jump back in, just so you can be 'there' for her. Do what you want, but don't regret your decisions later."
I started to walk away from the scene, Akita and Touko still hesitated, I looked back at them.
"You two are going to sacrifice yourselves in a helpless endeavor too?"
After saying my part, I started to walk away again. After a moment I hear the footsteps of these two following me. Satisfied I hurried my pace, then suddenly I started to hear the footsteps of a third person following us.
It was Kanna.
"So, you decided to continue on your path without her. I'll just say this once again, but don't regret your choices. Afterall, you can't change them anymore after it's over."
I felt the girl nodding, before she herself hurried up her steps. Only Yuiko was missing in this group.
As we reached the police cars, we got pulled into the crowd, getting supplied with warm blankets and milk. Probably to calm our nerves down. I vaguely heard some words, like 'we are going to get your friend out of there too' or 'don't worry your safe now', but I didn't really listen to it anymore.
Afterall these were only deceits, thinking that they could fool the brains of the young girls.
I looked around, seeing that neither little aunty Etsuko, nor mommy Rumi could do anything. Yuikos' life was in the hand of the villain as a hostage and they couldn't risk her death, just because of a rash decision.
I sat down again, feeling disappointed that I sacrificed the life of one of my new friends. I am sure that Touko and Akita are going to see me in a new light and I am sure that Kanna is going to hate my guts, after this situation. I am sure that she will know that this wasn't my fault, but I am sure she still wouldn't be able to forgive me. Her hate had to go somewhere and the person that pulled her away from her childhood friend and basically saved her life was the perfect target for it.
I sighed again, I knew that I just said to her that she shouldn't regret her decisions, but I myself started to regret my decision myself.
Just one word flew through my head. Hypocrite and I truly was one now. I was one of the people I hated so much in my life. I am hypocrite and there was nothing that could change that anymore.
Suddenly I was pulled out of my thoughts.
"HOLY DAMN! LOTUS, MIRKO! Do something! That guy is about to blow himself and the vicinity up! That thing around his body is extremely dangerous! That bomb has some enriched radioactive material in it! I don't know how he got it, but that thing is a little atomic bomb, capable of blasting away AT LEAST half of this city! Do something, the life of the hostage isn't first priority anymore!"
I saw a police officer, communicating with the two heroes in front of the mall without a communication device.
I approached him and tried to give him my most adorable face. Unsurprisingly it worked and I got his attention.
"Uncle! Can you tell me how you are communicating with aunty Lotus and Mirko, without a communication device?"
"Of course! It's my quirk, it's called 'telepathy' and I can communicate with every one of my choice in a certain radius!"
I nodded, good something like this was what I needed.
"Anyone? I know that I am obstructing your job for a bit, but can you call someone for me?"
"I am sorry. But I can't communicate with someone outside my range."
"Don't worry! It's someone inside your range! I wanted to communicate with my friend, but they are currently a bit too far away to hear me."
"As long as they are in range, I can try? And? Who is your friend?"
"It's the girl held in hostage, I wanted to say my last goodbye to her, can you do it?"
He almost choked at my words. Guess he didn't expect something like that.
"Of course, wait a minute, I'll try and fulfill your wish, have fun talking with your friend."
He patted my head, before closing his eyes, concentrating, attempting to reach Yuikos mind. After a while I something connect to my mind.
"HEY! Yuiko! Still conscious? If yes try to reply to me!"
"HUH! Akane? Where are you, why can I hear you inside my head?"
"Don't sweat the details, just use your quirk and switch places with either Lotus or Mirko, after that you should be out of the mess."
"I am sorry, Akane."
"WHAT, WHY?"
"I can only switch positions with people with a similar body composition like me! Both Lotus and Mirko are taller and heavier than me, it wouldn't work!"
I grit my teeth, trying to think up another solution.
"Could you switch places with me?"
"What? Yes, I could, but I need you in my line of sight for doing it."
"No problem."
I looked at the police officer with my adorable face again.
"Uncle? Could you let me sit on your shoulders?"
"What? Why?"
"Yuiko said that she wanted to see one of her friends one last time."
Before I knew it, I was higher up.
"Can you see me now?"
"Yes, wait a moment, I need a signal for switching places, I don't want to surprise you out of nowhere."
"Okay, NOW!"
And in that moment, I switched places.
Everyone was surprised seeing the two girls swap places. The police officer was surprised, the three friends were surprised, Lotus and Mirko were surprised, the police behind the camera was surprised and most importantly, that guy was surprised. Giving me a big enough time window and twist my body around, so I could hold him in a leg choke.
The moment he felt chocked he activated his quirk, immediately heating up. Burning my clothes on my chest and the front of my undersides. My legs, my hands and a bit of my face. Luckily my clothes were made of silk, polyester would have burned into my skin. I continued to choke him, preventing him to be able to push the trigger of his suicide bomb vest.
My body burned, literally. I could feel how my second degree burns slowly turned into third degrees ones. I slowly felt how the heat slowly and surely passed through my skin. It hurt, it really hurt painfully, but I couldn't give up, the moment he gets enough oxygen is the moment he could trigger his bomb.
I held on, feeling that the heat almost made it through my skin, threatening to attack my muscles, turning the third degree to fourth degree, but suddenly the heat started to let up, his body got cooler and cooler and at some point, he fell over, unconscious.
I felt my consciousness slipping away, but in my last moments I saw a worried Mirko.
"Well, at least I didn't get any muscle damage."
These were the words I said with a smile, before turning unconscious.

At a certain someone's house:
"Whew, finished with this chapter. Now I just need some comic relief for it."
The person in front of the computer slowly turned around. Getting scared.
"WHAT THE FUCK! What are you doing here! We aren't supposed to break the fourth wall in this kind of way!"
"But Author-san, we needed something funny, but we couldn't just include something form the world around Akane! There was nothing funny in the moment!"
"Couldn't we just include another rickroll?"
The narrator shook its head in front of me.
"Fine, I'll tell a pun or something."
I coughed, trying to think of something, but I am very unfunny, so nothing come to my mind, so I started to sweat drop.
"What is green, little and triangular."
...
...
...
...
...
"A little, green triangle!"
"Yeah, yeah, fine, you don't need to show me the door, I know where it is."
And so, I walked out of the door.
