After Yu fled with the other system lords fleets, I watched as Anubis destroyed Abydos. When he and his fleet left, I did something I would not have been able to do before coming to this reality. I created a new Abydos using the seeds of wonder, the seed of potentia and nearly all of my knowledge I'd retained on the physical compositions of planets.
In a burst equivalent to a localized Big Bang I brought forth a planet of solid matter from energy itself. I then revived the Abyonians before cloaking the planet from all but earth. I placed a new stargate there with a DHD to accompany it.
The process had drained me of a hundred stars of each type of energy except time. The magic would return easily enough but the ZPM energy, or potential energy as I liked to call it, would take a considerably longer time to recover.
I left Skaara and Sha're there after they dialed earth and I walked through the gate. I phased through the iris and the humans lowered their weapons. "Anubis destroyed Abydos but I brought it back along with it's people. The planet is cloaked from all but earth's ships and gate dialing so they are far safer than here now."
It was Alice who first saw the toll using so much power took on my physical body. Even forged in hell fire this body wasn't meant to be anything more than a vessel. It by all rights should have exploded when I accessed that much power and would have to if this reality didn't have it's own limiters on energy being released from one being.
As it was I nearly collapsed into hers and Buffy's arms when they hugged me. Jack thanked me for doing what I did for the people of Abydos and I brushed it off. "There were countless women and children on that planet that didn't deserve that fate. I am not as heartless as you think, I merely prefer others to grow and take care of their own problems."
After that I did collapse as my body convulsed from the backlash. The seals on my power were put in place for a reason and while I'd managed to get around it by gaining more power, using so much had it's own consequences. After all it was easy to destroy, but to create was much more difficult.
I'd done so not with just magic but with the energy of this reality and it to had it's draw backs. I'd done something no ascended had ever achieved with pure energy especially in a physical body. As such my body was paying the price now.
When I awoke from what appeared to be a black out I found myself in a dark realm. There sitting on a throne of stars was a being that radiated power. So much so that when I tried to look upon it's face my vision grew blurry.
A voice radiated throughout the realm as it whispered. "It is not yet time for you. Go back."
I jolted awake once more and found myself on a medical bed. There I saw Dr.Fraiser looking over the medical scanner. Chuckling I told her. "I doubt you'll find the answers you seek with this technology. Even if you could understand what made my body so tough, you would never be able to duplicate it, no mortal could."
I waved the hologram screen away as I slid off the bed and pulled my clothes back on. I dropped the medical gown on the bed and left Janet there still looking over my charts while protesting that I wasn't medically discharged.
When I found Sam in her lab I asked her how long I was out. She was too surprised to see me and merely hugged me until I changed the mood by grabbing her ass. She yelped and pulled away while saying. "You've been out a long time. After you passed out we thought you'd recover within a day or two. But it's been six months."
I nodded. "I've felt out and got a bit of the things I missed. Daniel's back and Jonas is gone."
She sighed. "We found Daniel after two months. He'd lost his memory but he's slowly regained it. With his and Jonas's help we were able to target and destroy the super weapon the eyes of the gods were used for. Then, with Ba'al leading the system lords they destroyed Anubis's mothership over Jonas's home planet."
I sat down and listened as she continued. "Jack was clones by Loki as he'd been out of the loop for several decades and hadn't taken a new body to repair the genetic degradation. He thought Jack might've held the answer but the Asgard put a genetic lock on his DNA so the clone never fully matured."
I chuckled at that while she continued. "Teal'c and his symbiote were injured but the symbiote healed it after a few hours before we headed out and to save Bra'tac and Rya'c from a goa'uld prison world. They'd been recruiting for a while there when Ba'al and his forces moved in. What we saw when got there was carnage. The Jaffa working under Ba'al were half eaten and torn to shreds."
Smiling I told her. "My Jaffa are not to be underestimated. If Ba'al thought they could be used as slaves then he's as foolish as Yu now is."
Sam frowned but continued. "We found a toxic planet that had a failing barrier that shrunk slowly while the society inside was slowly killed off. Lexi reaches for some magic thing you gave her and she healed the planet. They're a thriving race once more."
I chuckled. "It's a talisman that grants access to my powers but it's wide spread so those that it's used on tent to turn into bunnies when mating. I'd be surprised if their number still dwindled after that. As for the power source, it should be rechargeable given some time near me or on Chulak."
Next she told me about Daniel being used as a house for many different personalities. A near miss with an Unas world and a space race she really liked. She mentioned firing a scientist that wanted to use a virus on the gate system even after knowing it was all interconnected.
She mentioned a female Jaffa group they met and convinced to take the modified tritonin. She spoke of a super soldier that served Anubis and later finding it's home planet. When she told me about the naquadria on Jonas's home world and how they saved it temporarily.
Finally she talked about killing a super soldier determined to end her and the weapon project she'd been working on. The weapon itself would make it a lot easier when dealing with the new super soldiers. As of right now and the reason she backed away from my grabbing her ass, there was a camera crew with us and a human there to interview her.
It was about revealing the stargate, should it ever go public, to make the current sitting president not look like an asshole. I growled a little at the humans before kissing Sam and saying. "You play nice with the mortals. I owe your people no such thing and it's time I check on Chulak. I've been cut off from most of my power for now as my body is still heavily damaged from remaking Chulak."
She sighed as I turned and left and the first question the reporter asked was. "Who was that?"
I went to Hammonds office and told him to dial up Chulak and that I needed to check on my territory in case there'd been an incursion by Anubis in this time. Not that my ships couldn't wipe his out if necessary but they were in hiding since Yu supposedly got them destroyed over Abydos by their knowledge.
My territory was as I'd left it, only now the free Jaffa has taken up residence on one of my outer planets. Spike was in a tizzy about me not answering and other than a bit of unrest from not answering my follower's prayers, It was fairly accurate to say not much had changed for my people.
On the other hand Olokun was dead by Anubis's forces and Yu was in the later stages of dementia as without the doses of temporary cures I'd been giving him, he'd slipped farther away than a few years ago. So far in fact that he was unable to take a new host of govern his territory.
Ba'al had taken charge of the remaining system lord's forces as he launched several offensive battles against Anubis and even his own enemies whom he used their own forces against. All in all the system lords were in disarray as the only two with any real power right now that were standing out were Ba'al and Anubis.
Morrigan was presumed dead with Amaterasu and their forces had joined Anubis's. The only remaining system lords were Yu, Ba'al, Ares, Artemis, Anubis and myself. Yu was unfit to lead and Artemis and Ares were on the run from Anubis's forces while I'd been forgotten about and assumed dead or simply ignored now that my own ships were thought to be dead.
I began preparations for the final stage of the show as I readied my troops for a war to end all goa'uld. I asked Egeria to mass produce the synthesized tretonin for all the Jaffa in the galaxy while having my own people pick up the slack.
A few days passed as I'd been gearing up for war. My ships were all upgraded to the very best the ancients has devised including a potentia installed into each ship to boost their capabilities. When the Tok'ra informed me that Ba'al had set a trap for the Tau'ri, I hurried back to earth in my cloaked flag ship.
There I beamed down into the SGC. When I asked who'd died, Daniel immediately asked. "Please bring her back. Janet's dead."
I sighed and told him and the room at large. "I would if I could, but my powers are out of my reach right now. I used a lot of power that no physical vessel composed of flesh and blood should've been able to have access to. By all rights when I brought an entire planet into being with the potentia energy and magic mixed in. This reality prohibits those with extreme power from doing such this and I've paid the price."
I waved a hand and focused, levitating the coffee mugs in the air until my nose bled. I wiped it off before continuing. "That was my best shot. I am truly sorry for her death but I can't help you, at least, not right now anyway. Once my body recovers some I'll bring her back to life if she has not yet entered the cycle of reincarnation and rebirth."
General Hammond frowned. "What happens if she has been reborn?"
I shrugged and sat down. "I've felt her soul before and so long as it's not been removed from this reality by another god or goddess, then I'll be able to find her no matter what new form she's taken. Obviously she will not remember any of us because the fires of rebirth purify the taint of the living off the soul. It isn't anything painful like an actual fire I can at least say that much. You will be able to see her once more as she grows up under your command if that is what you wish."
They each looked uneasy until General Hammond shook his head. "We'll handle that part when we get there. For now is there anything we can do to fix you up?"
I shook my head. "No, not really. It will just heal on it's own and even then I'll not be bringing a planet back from nothingness. Anubis vaporized it with that blast and seeing as how you've destroyed the weapon I doubt he'll be able to do such a thing again until he either rebuilds or finds more ancient technology."
I watched the meeting go on until the reporter came in and asked to see Hammond to show him the video he'd made. I went home with Buffy and the girls then as they'd had a very long and tiring day. After they fell asleep I slipped away and beamed back aboard my flag ship. There I headed back out once more and inspected my warriors.
Bra'tac has returned at my call as he'd sworn to do. He asked if I planned to include the free Jaffa in this battle and I shook my head. "The free Jaffa must decide to fight or not on their own. I do not hold their allegiance nor do I wish to decide for them. I may be a god but that does not mean I am their god. They are as free as you are to decide what you wish to do with your lives. It is that freedom, that choice, that allows gods to truly touch the souls of mortals when they are prayed to. Because they willingly open themselves up to their gods."
My words created a stir in the warriors before me and I sighed. "I would like each of you to know that while I am a god I am not infallible. I am greatly weakened from reforming Abydos and reviving it's people. Not because I lack the power but because this body, this vessel, cannot safely use the full strength of my true power. As such I've been severely injured and am consequently weakened."
They each gave me a complicated look and only Bra'tac spoke. "Then we will be your strength as you recover. You've given us a great deal to think on but I think I speak for all of us when I say that we do believe you to be the god that liberated us, no matter your current circumstances."
I smiled sadly as each of the warriors agreed the same. Illyria smiled now. "Truly worthy enough to be your subordinates. Any ruler is measured by the lengths to which their followers would go for them and not by the size of their kingdom. A true ruler can command the respect and the hearts of their followers."
Her words sent another ripple through the command deck until all the warriors were beaming with smiles. As my people gathered and prepared for war, back on earth things were heating up like always. The new president of the United States was being briefed on the SGC and it's command.
When my fleet was ready a week later I stood before it in all it's glory. "Those of you whom remember my words to you all, I want you to remember that I am a god of my word. As the attack on earth happens you all, along with my entire fleet, will depart to every goa'uld territory a hundred worlds at a time. Your goal is to wipe out all goa'uld and free Jaffa of all worlds. Those of you following Spike on the ground, remember, your mission is to subdue all Jaffa, remove and destroy their symbiote's then inject them with the modified permanent tretonin."
"Those of you with Bra'tac and Illyria following the fleet with your commanders, remember to disable their ship's weapons, shields and hyper drives. Then board and do the same with them. As for any and all goa'uld, leave none alive."
Millions of Jaffa warriors saluted me across Chulak and many other worlds I was broadcasting to. Smiling I said. "This is the moment that will define the fate of all Jaffa and human slaves owned by the goa'uld. Begin as soon as my flag ship sends word."
I boarded my ship that then cloaked and headed to earth. There I waited as Anubis's fleet were headed here. I saw on my sensors as Jack and SG-1 took off to an off world alien outpost and made it back before nearly crashing into the snowy mountains of Antarctica. When they began melting the ice to reach the buried outpost, Anubis's death gliders and alkesh moved in to destroy them.
As Hammond and the Orion arrived and blocked the bombers while their own X-302's fought. The Prometheus was headed to space to head off Anubis's actual fleet while it's own half dozen X-302's were with the Orion's nearly three dozen defending SG-1.
When the beam stopped melting the ice below, I gave the order for all my forces to lay waste to the goa'uld. The Tok'ra were already recalled now and earth would soon be safe. I told the Jaffa that had been hand picked by Illyria and Bra'tac. "Beam me down there then uncloak and back the Prometheus and the Orion up. Take out all goa'uld weapons and shields as you go."
They saluted me and sent me below not a minute behind Jack and the team. When I appeared in a beam of light as Jack mentioned sleeping in the stasis I shook my head. "You won't have to sleep Jack. Do what you've come here for and I'll remove the repository from your mind."
They turned to me and Jack proves my mind trying to connect. I knew it was an instinctual thing the ancients did to feel connected to each other and kept them grounded. As I stepped into the outpost itself he nodded and headed to the ancient outpost weapon chair platform.
Daniel commented. "I don't think this is it, Atlantis I mean."
I chuckled as Jack sat down after putting the potentia into the platform. "Of course it's not Daniel, this is just the outpost that docked the city ship Atlantis. The crown jewel of the Alteran empire."
He frowned. "A city ship? Like space ship?"
I nodded. "The ancient's did everything big. A city ship is as I described. A city that has space flight capabilities. More so it-"
The kull warriors had arrived. Anubis's super soldier Ashrak. I pulled out my vibro energy covered trinium-carbon alloy sword. I moved faster than the human eye could track as I cut the warriors down. When the energy failed to penetrate the armor, good old fashioned metal and muscle did the job.
I killed the first two before the humans realized the threat. When the second two arrived Jack was already taking care of it with the weapon chair. Glowing drone weapons broke a hole to their chamber before encompassing the kull warriors and flying out of the hole and heading to space.
After five minutes Jack nearly passed out as the platform went dark once more. I walked to him and stopped my face inches from his own as our eyes met. I delved into his mind and removed the ancient repository from it. When I was done I nearly passed out now as the knowledge I took presses in on my own mind.
I already knew all of it but now the added information was overflowing my mind. Like filling and already full glass with cloned water. When it hit me full force a searing pain in my head let me know it was burnt into my mind. No longer did I need to sift through the ancient's knowledge to find what I needed.
The information and the added connection to the potentia energy boosted my recall and modified my mind some to give me a very basic automatic recall for the ancient knowledge. I felt a far stronger connection to the potentia seeds within myself as I now fully understood all of the ancients knowledge and understanding of the universe and it's workings.
Before I had the knowledge and a basic understanding but now I seem to have mastered it. I knew just with a thought how the ancients technology was linked to their genetic markers. With a thought I knew all I'd ever wanted about how and what made up the building blocks of the planets and universe in this reality.
When I regained my senses my nose was bleeding but I simply wiped it away and focused on the task at hand, staying conscious. When I nearly collapsed Jack caught me and sat me down in the chair.
Sighing I told them. "You've taken care of Anubis's fleet and so earth is saved for the most part. At the same time my own fleet is systematically wiping out all goa'uld in the galaxy. Soon enough their race will be extinct. Only the Tok'ra will remain as an off shoot."
Sam was amazed as was Jack and Daniel while a single tear fell down Teal'c's cheek. "Then my people are truly free."
I sighed. "Freedom is a right, but without a form of government and a stable one at that, you leave yourselves open for a hostile take over. You and the other Jaffa have a long way to go before you are truly done with your journey Teal'c. Along the way all I ask is that you take care of Junior. It's a part of me as is all my children."
Teal'c nodded with conviction. "I will protect it with my life."
I shook my head. "Not physically Teal'c, it is immortal and through it you are as well. No, I speak of teaching and guiding it towards a better future. One day it may lead it's race as you will soon be required to do."
Daniel frowned. "What about you? Aren't you leading the Jaffa now?"
I chuckled. "Not really no. I will remove the knowledge of how to build ancient weapons from most of the Jaffa and take the ten thousand with my children in them with me. The rest will follow Teal'c and Bra'tac to build a solid society and future for the soon to be free Jaffa nation or empire."
I turned back to Teal'c and have a small smile. "Soon enough you'll have your own government. I recommend a council to emulate the Tollans and the ancient's. I'll leave the knowledge of their laws and system of government for your people to use as a reference if need be. All else will be taken. As for the worlds in my old territory, they will be returned to their paradise like states once I'm healed enough, then they will be turned over to you and whomever you deem to help you lead your people."
He smiled and gave a small bow. "If you are what gods are supposed to be than I can truly say the goa'uld have merely tarnished the honor of true gods."
I smiled sadly. "Care to help me get out of this place. Soon enough the human government's will take over this area in a territory dispute. I hear Hammond has been dismissed from the SGC."
They helped me up and with Teal'c to help me walk we walked out. When we got to the platform Jack smacked his head. "Doh! I'll be right back."
He ran back to the chair platform and took the potentia out. Jogging back to us with it in his hands I tapped the com link on my jacket. "Flag ship Ragnorak, this is Osiris, beam myself and those with me aboard."
As soon as I finished speaking we were beamed aboard the ship. When my Jaffa followers saw my state I grimaced. "I took on the knowledge of the ancients once more and injured myself in the process. I'll be fine."
They took my shoulders and helped me to the captain's chair. When I was sitting Sam spoke to the rest of the group. "It looks like a junkyard up here."
I looked at the main screen before saying. "Take us to Sunnydale, cloak as we go and take us off of all radars and satellites. Tell the Prometheus and Orion where we are headed and have them relay my message to their leader. Tell him that I've held up my agreement with the Tau'ri of earth that the goa'uld will be all dead soon enough. Earth has no more need to fear the goa'uld."
When we arrived there all of my mates gathered and cast healing spells on me. For the next week they healed my body with magic while I stayed away from using any power whatsoever. In that time both Jack and Sam were promoted.
Jack took over the SGC while Dr.Weir, the temporary leader while Hammond was reassigned, began gathering her team in case Daniel found the gate coordinates for Atlantis. On multiple occasions they, Daniel and Weir that is, stopped by during my healing sessions to ask if I'd just give them the gate address.
I left them hanging of course as it wasn't time yet. When I felt able to again I began activating my own natural healing abilities and adding spells as well. In the span of ten minutes I went from five percent strength back to full strength. When I was good again I teleported to Thor whom was in the Ida galaxy watching over the replicator world that was breaking up in the collapsing black hole.
When the replicator world finally finished breaking up a cluster formed and made itself into a ship. I told Thor as I revealed myself. "There's a ring on the console. Put it on and you'll find the answers to help your people further against the replicators. This is the last you'll see of me for a long while. I release you from your path and debt to me."
He was too stunned to speak properly but when the replicator ship fired on his ship, he was knocked out of it. He put the ring on and I teleported away. He could handle it from there. I'd even left him instructions on how to use the Dakara device if necessary and left a warning for him to destroy it after he used it if it came to that.
I teleported to Chulak and began setting up the Jaffa for their future. When I erased the knowledge of how to make the ancient advanced weapons, I left behind their laws and ways to form governments in all the Jaffa. I removed my gift of the werewolves and vampires from each of those that would stay until only those that were staying by my side had them.
The rest received a doubled Jaffa lifespan and the perfected Tretonin single dose. With that I removed the technology and healed all the worlds of my former territory, turning them into paradises. I then removed the seeds of wonder and consumed them, bringing my seeds of wonder up to seven hundred with ten extra for each of my mates.
I stopped by Anubis's old territories and destroyed his ancient designed devices and returning them to the earth as raw materials. When I was done and my fleet was assembled, I had them set up camp on a former hunting planet.
With that I went back to earth alone and watched Daniel argue with Weir and the governments who were disputing territory laws for the next month and a half. Finally when things calmed down at the SGC and the ancient outpost, Anubis made his move.
He possessed a russian officer on the international space station that was helping to clean up the battlefield. When he was then sent to the SGC to figure out what was wrong with him, I sensed the half ascended being hiding in it's weakened form and ate him.
I didn't in fact eat the russian not that I couldn't have been persuaded to. I just ripped the weakened ascended being out of him and had a battle of wills inside my own my scape until I crushed the partially ascended being. His essence was something else as I absorbed it.
It hit me like a ten thousand gallon vat of acid. I saw the galaxy through his connection to the higher plane like he must've seen. From particles of energy to the life force each creature gives of and more besides. It was like the universe was slowly revealing it's secrets to me.
I slowly felt myself loosing my connection to my physical self. I locked the connection away much like my power was locked away. His essence had mingled with my own as mine began to purify itself slowly, becoming more compact and efficient to match the cleaner essence.
I slowed down the process even further as I knew after a certain point I'd be forced to ascend or die. Not that it could kill me permanently but it would be a pain in the ass to get back to where I am.
When I was ready I gave Daniel what he sought, the gate address to Atlantis. When I did so I made it clear with Jack. "My mates and I are going to Atlantis with the expedition. Teal'c is needed with his people to lead for a time and help form a suitable government. As you're the leader of the base that leaves Daniel the only original member of SG-1 here. Teal'c will be back after a fashion I'm sure and Sam and Faith came up with a helpful solution."
In walked both pairs of Sam and Faith. Sam told Jack. "We had Osiris here update our robot selves and upgrade them with all we know. They're protected against all forms of connections like replicators and are immune to all emps and variations. Essentially they're human as they have been modified and even given new souls. A bit of both our souls was shared with them and through Osiris's help, they grew. In a way they're partially us anyway now. They are even more than willing to continue in our place's here."
Jack looked caught between a rock and a hard place before sighing. "So you really do want to go on this little trip?"
Sam nodded. "It's something I need to do. I've already stopped aging a while back general. I've been aging with illusions so as not to spook anyone. In fact from the way Osiris tells it I'm basically immortal now. I need to continue down my path if I'm ever to ascend."
She gave me a look and I nodded. "It's time I kept up my word. We shall marry before we leave for Atlantis so Jacob and your friends can see us off."
With a hug and kiss she expressed her joy before straightening up and going back into soldier mode as we were on base and it was instinctual to her. She went to apologize for the outburst to Jack and he stopped her smiling. "Ahh hell Carter, it's something worth celebrating."
She smiled now. "Yes sir."
Chuckling I wrapped my arms around her and told Jack. "I'm thinking we invite some of the off world allies and make it a whole big deal. Sam's dream wedding is pretty big on it's own and I want to give her that. As for where exactly, there's a planet I've in mind that should do the trick. It's a little sandy but from what I hear, the people there are really nice."
Sam's eyes went wide and Daniel said. "You're talking about Abydos aren't you?"
I nodded. "As Teal'c says often enough, indeed."
Teal'c raised an eyebrow and smiled lightly. "As for my best man, I'm sorry people, but Bra'tac has already claimed that spot. He seems insistent that he do me the honor as a last goodbye and thanks for letting him keep the immortality. He will be one of the two Jaffa not with me that will outlive all others."
I turned to Teal'c. "Junior wishes to stay with you until it is time to blend or find a isolated planet and ascend. You will keep the immortality even after it is gone as it's last gift to you a blending of species if you will. After it is gone you will no longer have a symbiote pouch as it's blood will mix with your own before it leaves, healing you and granting you a small part of itself."
Teal'c touched his stomach for a moment before smiling lightly and bowing a little in acknowledgment. A week later I passed a ZPM mark II to the SGC and Jack in general after the wedding took place on Abydos. The Asgard, Nox, Tollan, Free Jaffa, hell even the Tok'ra had shown up to wish us the best.
It was a grand affair for all involved and though some had their own problems to deal with like the Asgard and the replicator mess, it was a time for many people's to come together and simply be happy. Sam certainly got the wedding she'd always dreamed of and as a last hurrah, I turned most of the Abydos desert into a grassy field of flowers with a great burst of magic.
Abydos itself felt unique to me now. I no longer felt my mother's presence inside the planet as with most. No, I felt like I'd left a piece of myself inside instead. Jacob gave Sam away at the alter and we made our vows to the gods, not just one but to all gods.
The next day after the wedding we were packed and ready to go. Sam was reassigned to the Atlantis expedition and while Jack had a full ZPM he used the one that he'd gotten from Praclarush Taonas and had used during the battle with Anubis.
That left earth with the nearly depleted one now, a full one from Egypt and the one I'd given Jack. The one from Egypt was sent to the ancient outpost in Antarctica while the one I'd given him would be used to power the gate for calls to Atlantis.
We left with the expedition team through the gate as I notified my army of the coordinates to Atlantis. They would simply spend a couple hours in hyperspace to get there not long after we arrived. I'd had to make special rings for a hundred years of blood and food stored inside them for each of my ten thousand soldiers.
In this way they need not infringe on the expedition team. I'd stored my city ships and they jumped into hyperspace in the modified Lantean warships. When Atlantis felt our presence, I immediately teleported to the power room. There I put one mark II potentia in the power outlet while setting aside the depleted ones.
I then teleported to the control console in front of the gate and while everyone watched, I activated the hidden console fooling it into thinking I was an ancient. There I took control of the city and had it release the docking clamps that held it to the bottom of the ocean.
As I did so I told the expedition members while opening the windows. "Welcome to Atlantis, crown jewel of the Alteran empire and once sunken city ship with space flight capabilities. If fully powered it could use it's star drive to open a wormhole and instantly appear to earth. No, the potentia I just placed inside it's power station is not nearly full enough to do so even with the other potentia on earth."
Rodney had to speak up. "I thought we were calling them ZPM's?"
I snorted. "Call it what you like but you aren't the one with millions of years worth of it's original creators calling it potentia burned into your brain. Now enjoy the show as Atlantis rises to the top of the ocean, something it has not done in ten thousand years by the way. Not since the ancient's left it here."
They each in turn looked out the windows and watched the city rise from the bottom of the ocean. When it was done I lowered the shields and fresh air hit us all. Sam took groups of soldiers and searched the immediate vicinity for any hazardous creatures until Weir called them back as I took the potentia out and replaced it with the mark III naquadah generators.
They were puppy dog sad that I was taking away the superior power source until I told them. "Either find your own or figure out how to make them yourselves. After all, the technology is here."
I waved my hand to the city in general. Weir asked. "Any particular place you'd recommend we start looking?"
I just smiled back at her and shook my head. "No such luck."
Rodney bit out. "Come on! There's got to be somewhere in it's general direction you'd suggest we look."
I shrugged. "Perhaps I'll grow lemon trees. I here citrus prevents scurvy and we are on an ocean."
He shivered and Weir gave a reluctant smile as well, knowing it was a jab at McKay's citrus allergy. The newest recruit to the expedition, Major John Shepherd, spoke up. "If your taking requests then I think I'd like an orange tree. I could use a fresh glass of orange juice in the mornings."
I smiled and waved a hand. The dead potted plant shrank and an orange tree sprouted up in it's place. After I turned over partial control of the city to the expedition members, as much as any none council member of the Lantean's would've had anyway, my own army came in via space.
They docked twelve at a time and put away the war ships in the captain's rings before following Sam's orders and searching the city from top to bottom. When they found a hazardous zone or otherwise I warned them about, they sealed it off and marked it instead of going in.
Like this the city was cleaned up mostly in nearly a day. My warriors showed the humans where and how to work the transporters before turning themselves over to Sam's command. They had orders from me not to go on any expeditions as they were only to defend the city and occasionally explain how something worked to the human security officers.
They took up a sixth of the city's residence and showed the humans how to access the quarters as well. They were polite and bowed only to me and my wives. When Weir asked why they were here I pulled up the history of the wraith wars and why the ancient's fled. She and the other expedition members watched the recordings in horror and fascination.
When they were done I told her and them. "You'll want to explore the Pegasus galaxy eventually and when you inevitably run into the wraith and they turn their attention back to Atlantis, my warriors will defend this city till the wraith are wiped out. That is why they are here. Atlantis shall never fall into the hands of the Wraith as it's gate is their only way of getting to the Milky Way galaxy."
Colonel Sumner spoke up. "Then we'll gladly make use of them. I'm sure I can fold them into the ranks given some time."
My Jaffa, Kreshna, the commander Bra'tac had hand picked as the best besides himself sneered. "We do not take orders from Tau'ri. Only our god and his mistresses may command us."
Colonel Sumner frowned now and I chuckled. "My warrior is correct. They are only here to defend this city and help you all do so. They will not be stepping through the stargate unless it is with me and my wives. Go explore all you want and when you inevitably call trouble down upon us all, be assured that the finest warriors in the this reality will protect the home front."
My warriors chuckled as Kreshna told the Colonel. "We have orders to help secure the city and ensure you know the best places to set up defenses and how to do so. If you have any tactical advice on defending we will gladly take it and ensure you're aware of our movements and patrols at all times. We are here to help keep you and this city safe as our god decrees. If you have any questions you may ask but unless it pertains to the security of this city or it isn't about the technology of the city then we will not answer as we've been told to let you learn on your own."
Summer was a hard man but they'd basically given him enough leeway to ensure his job is a success and make it a hell of a lot easier so he settled for what he was going to get. Besides, Sam was an officer and his equal on this mission albeit slightly under him in seniority and they would answer to her so he was happy enough.
Weir had an odd look when she asked. "So they'll only help when it comes to military issues and won't answer our questions otherwise?"
I shook my head and dismissed the warriors. "They'll answer anything not about technology unless it pertains to security. You can even get to know them and ask about their daily lives and hobbies if you'd like. I personally find their joke very funny and a few of them spend their free time coming up with more to make me and the others laugh. Real comedians they are. Feel free to express interest if their form pleases you as well. They may just express the same back to you."
Buffy spoke up now. "Where's Spike by the way?"
I sighed. "He kind of got himself in a bit of a bind and decided to stay in the Milky Way with the rugrats. He has half a dozen kids now and nearly as many wives so he's a bit busy. Illyria is here though. She's in the west of the city in a private quarters all to herself. She wishes to continue contemplating ascension and wants to be as ready as she can be for when it's time."
Buffy nodded and looked a little sad. Spike had become a confidante of sorts for her over the years. She knew we'd ascend before going back to the Milky Way and that meant she'd never see him again with her human eyes.
