Chương 57: Timeskip Bruhaha
Deep into wilderness, two blurry shadows could be seen speeding through the woods. One figure was a rough looking man wearing a grey suit while wielding a large sword.
The second figure was a young man with black hair and deep green eyes. He wore a black, sleeveless jacket over a white shirt with a red scarf swaying in the wind.
The young man took his hands out from his black and breezy shorts and smirked as his eyes suddenly became silver.
"EAT MY DUST OLD MAN!!!" Roared the young man as he became a torrent of red flower petals, bursting forward while evading the trees with precision.
The old man's eyes twitched as he softly muttered, "Oh, so you wanna play like that?"
Obviously, the two idiots racing through the forest were none other than Qrow Branwen and Magna Opus. It's been about six years since Magna let the truth out about his semblance.
During those six years, Magna was basically never idle. After training like a madman for a whole year, Qrow finally started training him on how to use a scythe.
Luckily, he had gotten his weapon a few days after leaving the hospital. His uncles, however, went all in on creating his scythe. Not only did it change into a high impact sniper rifle, they added a few extra modes as well.
One of which modes, was the rail gun function. Taking his scythe off his back, Magna swung it around as it changed into its rail gun form. Taking a small lightning dust crystal from his pocket, Magna slotted it into the side as he raised it forward.
Suddenly, an Ursa appeared from the bushes as it leapt towards him. Magna smirked as particles started to gather in the barrel. Leaping over the Ursa, Magna slowly counted down from 5 in his head.
Once he reached 0, Magna enforced his body with aura as he leapt high into the air. With a wide smirk still on his face, Magna faced the rail gun towards the Ursa as he muttered, "Game over… you lose!"
A small beam of light shot from the gun and pierced through the Ursa like a hot knife through butter.
Switching back to scythe mode, Magna dashed forward. His body wasn't the only thing he worked on. He used his semblance to its fullest, changing soul clusters whenever he felt was right.
It wasn't all gumdrops and rainbows though. Some clusters didn't have any combat skills at all. For example, one of the clusters he gained was only a normal chef.
His name was Yukihira Soma, from the anime 'Shokugeki no Soma'. Needless to say, that was one of the most dangerous months of his life. Not only was he weaker than normal, but the only thing he was good at was cooking.
It's safe to say that during that month, he was forced to rest and cook. He also may have caused everyone he knew to have a foodgasm from his cooking, turning all of them into gluttons.
Anyway, his currently soul cluster was that of a man named Rudeus Greyrat, a wizard. So far, Magna has been able to use the four elements up to the intermediate level.
This means he can use small scale attack magic as well as defensive magic. Even with the memories, it was still a difficult challenge to actually conjure a spell.
Just as he was seemingly lost in thought, a pack of beowolves launched themselves at him. Luckily, years of following Qrow on his missions built up his threat detection as he leapt backwards.
'Fireball barrage!'
Suddenly, 20 balls of fire the size of basketballs appeared as they silently floated next to Magna. Pointing a finger towards the pack, Magna lazily muttered, "Go…"
The 20 balls of fire launched themselves at the pack and bombarded them. After a couple seconds, the dust settled and what once was a pack of beowolves was now nothing more than a black stain on the forest floor.
Using earth magic to clean up the destroyed forestry, Magna quickly moved as he remembered Qrow's mission.
There's been an unusual increase in grimm activity in Argus. Ozpin requested Qrow to check it out and report whatever he finds. And Magna invited himself along for the ride.
Obviously, Magna was going for a different reason. He had heard from Weiss about this competition that's being held there. It intrigued him quite a bit so he decided to check it out.
Speaking of Weiss, over the last six years, his relationship with the Schnees has only grown. Weiss and Winter finally carry their name with pride as most of the damage done by Jacques has been fixed.
Whitley has grown alot over the years, actually taking the initiative to ask Magna for help when he trained. Magna obviously couldn't help him all the time but the pair frequently texted each other.
Now, his relationship with Willow was kind of strange. Even though he was currently 14 years old, Willow still liked to pick him up and kiss him. Of course she only kisses his cheeks and occasionally his forehead but it's still embarrassing.
The only problem would be Jacques. He basically left the house, turning his half of the company into a side business. It's sad but he delved back into the morally grey side of business.
Sure, he managed to turn more profit than the original family but he's doing it in a way that make people and faunus alike despise him. The only people that seem to like him are the other nobles of Atlas minus the Opus family.
The last time Magna heard from the Schnees, Weiss was studying her family's glyphs, Winter was undergoing an important mission, Whitley was training his body and Willow was running the company.
Finally coming to the set meeting area, Magna started playing with his magic. An orb of every element appeared as Magna forced them to change size and shape.
Every though it looks like he's playing(which he was), doing this also improved his control over the spells and elements he uses.
After a few minutes, the smell of cheap whiskey drifted by as a loud voice said, "Is this the place?"
Extinguishing all the orbs but the water spell, Magna quickly launched the orb at the voice as he yelled, "Over here Qrow!"
"Oh! Magna, I fina-"
Before Qrow could finish, he was cutoff as a sphere of water splashed his face. He rolled his eyes as he wiped some of the water from his face and muttered, "Great… now I'm sober…"
Magna laughed at Qrow as he rolled his eyes and said, "Alright brat, you've had your fun. It's time for a quick briefing."
With a snap of his fingers, a wave of heat covered Qrow as his clothes instantly became dry.
"Thanks. Now, MY mission is to look into the reason why grimm activity has become erratic. I'm gonna look around the forest for clues while YOU, the little tag along, can check the town."
Magna opened his mouth to speak when Qrow waved him off, "I know. You can register for the tournament, just make sure you look for some clues."
A smile appeared on Magna's face as his eyes became silver, "You can count on me!"
Before he could disappear however, Qrow yelled, "WAIT!!!"
Confused, Magna quickly turned back.
"No using Ruby's abilities. Don't ask me why because I can't tell you but your banned from using Ruby's abilities, at least in public."
Shrugging his shoulders, Magna's eyes became amber gold as he fell into his shadow. The shadows on the ground squirmed for a few seconds before shooting towards the town.
A small smile appeared on Qrow's face as he yelled, "MAKE IT TO THE FINALS MAGNA!!! MY STUDENT SHOULDN'T LOSE TO ANYTHING BUT A LADIES SKIRT!!!"
Suddenly, the shadows stopped as Magna leapt out from the ground. Flipping a couple times in the air, Magna gave him the double bird before diving back into shadows, shooting towards the town.
