Chương 35: Restriction Lifted
Turmoil. That's the only word suitable to describe the current situation. The combat academy Signal was attacked by devout followers of the Queen of grimm.
The largest damage done was the abduction of 15 children. Because the grimm were too easily noticeable, the huntsmen nearby were able to react quickly as they managed to recover every student… but one.
Somehow, the men who staged the attack managed to obtained the records of the students. Emerald's semblance was far too precious for them to give up so they used the other students as decoys to extract her and her alone.
When he woke up, Magna did not take the news well. Something seemed to have changed inside him as his eye colour had changed and permanently became dark green.
He shut himself in his room, never setting a single foot out of the door. However, everyone who walked by his room couldn't help but shiver as a sickeningly dark and dangerous feeling emanated from behind his door.
Of course, his family didn't sit back and twiddle their thumbs. At every available time, his parents, the wolf twins, his wounded teacher, hell, even Taiyang along with the drunk bird and his family visited him and tried to comfort him. They basically never left him alone though they never actually set foot in his room.
Their constant efforts seemed to finally bare fruit as a week after the attack, his door slowly swung open. At that time, the dark and dangerous feeling disappeared, as if it never existed as they saw Magna, standing their with puffy red eyes and dark bags under his eyes.
He fell to his knees as he cried. He didn't only cry because of losing Emerald. He cried because of the fear he felt from fighting people. He cried because of the guilt and pain from killing people. He finally acted his age as he burst into tears.
It took hours for his family and friends to calm him down before he finally fell asleep. They could tell from the bags under his eyes that Magna hasn't had a wink of sleep since he woke up from falling unconscious.
Emily's heart squeezed in her chest as she softly brushed his hair out of his face and muttered, "He's still crying, even in his sleep…"
Currently, it's late at night and the children were forced to go to bed. Qrow didn't even feel the desire to drink as he sadly said, "I'm so sorry, kid. If only I was paying attention… if only I could've arrived there just a little bit faster…"
Taiyang gripped Qrow's shoulders and said, "Don't blame yourself Qrow. No one was aware of what was happening until it was too late."
Next to Emily, Amber softly ran her good hand through Magna's hair as she sadly said, "He's so young yet he had to experience taking another's life…"
Everyone fell silent. He was only an 8 year old boy but he's already had to experience killing another person. Joshua's face was the symbol of wrath as he glared at Qrow and said, "Qrow, is there any way I can get some info from Ozpin? I need to kill those bastards for forcing my son to breakdown but I don't know where to start looking."
A dense killing intent covered the room as everyone felt out of breath. Even Emily, his loving wife, was affected.
Qrow thought for a couple seconds before nodding, "Sure thing. I'll make a couple calls."
Slowly, Qrow stood up and tried to quietly leave the room. However, once he got to the door, his scroll beeped as he recieved a message.
He checked it for a couple seconds before smiling. "I just got a message from Jimmy. The Schnee sisters are on there way to pick up Magna for their family gala. I say they'll be here in the morning, around lunch at the latest."
Amber frowned as she said, "Are we really going to let Magna leave? After everything he just went through?"
"I honestly think we should. After everything that just happened, a little R&R is exactly what he needs. The Schnee sisters might be… well, Schnees, but they also seemed to like Magna alot." Said Qrow.
"Plus, he'll finally be able to have some fun and forgot those painful memories. I heard the gala this year is supposed to be the biggest yet."
Emily didn't mind the idea of Magna getting some rest and relaxation but she couldnt help but feel worried as she asked, "Can… I go with him?"
Unfortunately, Qrow shook his head as he sighed, "I'm sorry but you can't. None of us can. While both sisters did invite him, Winter is the only one who actually has the power to invite someone. However, that power is limited to only inviting one person."
Qrow fell into thought for a bit before saying, "I'll tell them about what happened to Magna and ask them to take extra care of him while he's with them."
Before anyone could reply, Qrow already left the room while sending them the details. The room fell silent once again.
After a couple seconds, Taiyang stood up as he muttered, "I'm off to bed. Someone has to feed those little bottomless pits in the morning."
Emily rolled her eyes at Taiyang as she brutally said, "And that someone is not you. If you even dare to try and cook tomorrow, I'll put you into an eternal sleep."
Taiyang visibly shuddered as he quietly said, "Noted." Before continuing to bed.
Emily slowly lifted Magna as she cradled him in her arms. Her eyes became watery as she shakily said, "Your still small enough for me to carry you in my arms… my baby boy…"
Amber gently smiled as she followed Emily out of the room. Over the last couple days, the pair have grown rather close as their concern for Magna connected them.
Joshua continued to sit in the chair as he stared out the window and thought, 'Just you wait…'

The next morning, Magna woke up in a daze. To his right was his mother Emily while to his left was his teacher, Amber Noct. Magna rubbed the sides of his head and sighed.
His mother he could understand but his teacher? That was a little too much for him. Seeing them still sound asleep, Magna ran his eyes over his teachers figure and paled.
When he first saw her in the ruins, he didn't get a good look at her wounds but now that she's sleeping next to him with nothing more than a night gown on, he finally got to see the full extent of her injuries.
Her lower half was completely scarred while only half of her upper body managed to escaped being burned. The burn marks even ran up her neck and onto her face. He softly caressed her scars as tears gathered in his eyes.
He was about to cried when a soft hand landed on his. Startled, Magna was about to retract his hand when Amber's eyes slowly opened as she gently smiled and said, "Good morning Magna. Were you checking out your big sis? Sadly, I'm not as pretty as before."
Magna could hear the sadness in her voice when she finished speaking. Just as he was about to say something, he froze as he felt something in his chest.
His aura reserves practically doubled while the feeling that repressed him from changing abilities disappeared.
Without wasting time, Magna switched to Naruto's abilities as a familiar sun tattoo appeared on his hand.
He pressed his hand against the burns on her arm, earning an ashamed look from Amber as she said, "You shouldn't touch my burns Magna. They're not that nice to feel…"
Suddenly, she frowned as she felt a warm energy flow from Magna into her body.
"Magna, just stop. I alread-" Before she could finish, her eyes widened into saucers as she watched the burn marks on her hand slowly receed.
Tears poured down her face as she touched her now soft and smooth hand. Magna finally showed the first genuine smile since the attack as he said, "Don't worry big sis! With me here, you'll be back to your old self in-"
He was suddenly cut off as Amber pulled him close to her and repeatedly kissed his cheeks. Magna turned as red as a tomato but he couldn't stop smiling as Amber softly cried and repeatedly muttered, "Thank you… thank you so much…"
